About College:

The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.The Calcutta University Act, 1951, which came into operation from March, 1954 brought about important changes in the constitution and character of the University.

Certificate Courses in Korean, Sanskrit

Eligibility:

1. Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% of marks (for both General and Honours Candidates). (45% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B)

2. No cut off marks for candidates who have post graduate degree.

3. No cut off marks for candidates who have graduated before 1990.

Attendance during the session: Minimum 60% of the total classes held

Admission to Certificate course will be made on the basis of counselling. Applicants are required to appear before counselling session (Mandatory). Candidates who will meet the eligibility criteria will be selected provisionally for Admission to the Certificate Course (2019-20) The candidates must produce their testimonials and other documents in original at the time of counselling.

Counselling will be held on 18.11.19, 19.11.19, 20.11.19, 21. 11.19 & 22.11.19. Final schedule in this regard will be announced in due course.

The candidates selected provisionally may note the following requirements at the time of admission:

i) All original testimonials

ii) Two (2) copies of recent passport size photographs

iii) Tuition fees for six (6) months only (for certificate course)

Application Forms are available in Department of Languages on Payment of Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- for SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-B, PWD) payable at SBI (Calcutta University – Online Payment).

The filled in application along with attested copies of testimonials, four copies of recent passport size photographs along with original SBI online payment receipt of Rs.100/ (Rs.50/-for SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-B, PWD) are to be submitted (2:00P.M.to 6.00P.M.) at the office of the Department of Languages on or before 25th September 2019.

Please attach online Cash Deposition receipt of SBI and write on the reverse Name, Course applied for and Mobile No. of the Candidate.

The Act provided for the reconstitution of the University to enable it to function more efficiently in the fields of teaching, training and research in various branches of learning and courses of study and extending higher education to meet the growing needs of the society and to make the constitution of various authorities and bodies of the University more democratic.

Eligibility:

·         Candidates with M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics and allied subjects from any UGC recognized University/Institute with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply

·         In case of candidates from other Universities, admission for the PhD Program will proceed after determination of equivalence by the relevant University body and fulfillment of the admission criteria

·         Foreign students will be required to produce clearance from the Govt. of India and/or other appropriate authorities, if any, for admission to the PhD Program

·         The non-creamy layer certificate has to be submitted by OBC candidates seeking admission under the reserved category

Admission Procedure

·         The admission procedure consists of a written test followed by an interview for candidates successful in the same

·         Those who have cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF) Exams/NET/SET (Mathematical Sciences)/ GATE (Mathematics) or hold DST INSPIRE Fellowship/Teachers’ Fellowship or have obtained M.Phil. Degree in Statistics and allied subjects or M. Tech. (QR&OR) degree of ISI prior to the application deadline will be exempted from the written exam but will have to appear in the interview

·         Structure of the written examination and subsequent process:

·         There will be 24 short answer type questions of 5 marks each out of which one has to answer 15 questions; the qualifying marks for Entrance Test will be 50%

·         Candidates successful in the written exam would have to compete with other eligible candidates who have already cleared NET/SET/GATE/M. Phil/M. Tech. (QR&OR) at the interview stage

·         List of finally selected candidates would be posted in the University Website & Departmental Notice Board

Reservation: Reservations will be followed as per West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions (Reservations in Admissions) Rules, 2013

Christ University, formerly Christ College (Autonomous) affiliated to Bangalore University was established in July 1969.
