About College:

The University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, was set up on 26th August 1982 through an Act of the A.P. State Legislature (APOU Act 1982). Subsequently, the University was renamed as Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University on 26 October, 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The establishment of this University, the first of its kind in India, heralded an era of affirmative action on the part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide opportunities of higher education to all sections of society to meet the changing individual and social needs. All the programmes offered by the University are recognised by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The motto of the University is "EDUCATION FOR ALL".

Course Name:

M.Phil. & Ph.D. [Specialization: English, Hindi, Telugu, Commerce, Education, Economics, History, Library & Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology]

Eligibility:

A candidate should possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) of marks for admission into both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.

Admission Procedure

Admission into M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme shall be through an entrance examination (written test) followed by an interview. However, the applicants qualified at the UGC/ JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil. tests are exempted from appearing for the entrance test provided they register themselves for the admission by paying the requisite fee.

Medium

The medium of instruction and examination for M.Phil. and Ph.D., entrance test, course work and writing dissertation/thesis shall be English only. In case of languages, the medium of instruction and other activities shall be in the language concerned.

How to Apply:

The registration for M.Phil., and Ph.D. entrance examination is through online only. The candidates are advised to visit the Portal of www.braouonline.in. All the particulars of the candidate has to fill in the prescribed application form and pay the requisite fee at any TS/ AP online centres or through and Debit / Credit card on or before 31-12-2019. Upload the relevant certificates as mentioned in the Application Form / Synopsis through online. The registration fee for the above said each examination is Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only). The registration and payment of examination fee commence from 10-12-2019 and last date of registration and payment of fee is 31-12-2019. Please keep a Xerox copy of the print out received by the candidate after registration for future reference whenever necessary. The examination registration forms without online are not allowed by the University and no further correspondence shall be entertained. The venue of the Examination is at Hyderabad only. If the candidate wants to apply for both programmes separate applications have to be submitted for each examination.

·         For Ph.D. 19^th January, 2020 from 10.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, is located in the city of Hyderabad. With a wide network of 206 study centers spread throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh, the University has for its motto "Education at Your Doorstep". The University, the first of its kind in the Country was brought into being through an act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature in August, 1982.

Dr. BRAOU follows a multi-media teaching-learning approach which broadly comprises self-learning print material, supported by audio, video lessons and regular broadcast of lessons through All India Radio. From November, 1999 the University started Telecast of Video lessons through Doordarshan Regional Channel. On Sundays the University has Interactive Teleconferencing on the Regional Channel of Doordarshan.
