About College:

The Institute for Financial Management & Research (IFMR) is a leading business school with the objective of moulding ambitious young men and women into competent and socially responsible organisational leaders in a global setting. IFMR’s curriculum offers a mix of theory with simulated real life exposure and endeavours to shape global business practices through inventive, sharp thinking and cutting-edge research. IFMR currently offers full-time and part-time PGDM/MBA programmes, a Ph.D programme as well as both open and customised management development programmes. Established in 1970 as a not-for-profit society, IFMR was sponsored by ICICI, the House of Kotharis and other major industrial groups. The current Board of Governors, headed by Mr R Seshasayee – Chairman, IndusInd Bank Ltd, Mumbai, consists of leaders of major corporations in India as well as respected academicians.

Recognition:

Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in Chennai was established with the help of industry in the year 1970. This institute over its four decade long existence has been recognized by different bodies:

•      Institution of Importance across India by the Government of India (Ministry of Finance – under IT Act section 10(23)(c)(iv))

•      As a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) [Courses offered include: Finance, Economics, OB and HR Operations MGT., Strategic MGT., Information Systems, Marketing, Data Science]

Eligibility:

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equivalent PG Diploma in a relevant discipline, and a Bachelor’s degree with consistent first class. OR Five-Year integrated Master’s degree/Dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with consistent first class. OR ACA / FCA / AICWAI / ACSI qualifications of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and Institute of Company Secretaries of India provided the candidates have secured. one of the above qualifications after 2 years after obtaining a university UG degree from any recognized university. First class in the aggregate in the qualifying degree examination.

Experience: For  candidates  applying  with  at  least  2  years  of  work  experience  will  be  given preference.

·         Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a selection test (basic calculus (integral as well as differential), statistics and probability theory) and interview to be held at the Institute’s campus in Chennai.

The Institute for Financial Management and Research is a not-for-profit research based academic institution with a history of 43 years of Training and Research. It has run programs in the past in collaboration with British Open University and Michigan Business School.
