Announcement of Online Common Entrance Test for Admissions to the August 2020 Batch of MBA Programmes

Admission to the MBA Programmes of the IMU for the Academic Year 2020-21, starting on Monday, 03rdAugust 2020, will be through all-India Online Common Entrance Tests (CET) which will be conducted on Saturday, 04th Jan 2020 between 11 am and 2 pm.

Candidates will be required to qualify this CET in order to be eligible for admissions to these Programmes.

This CET will be held for the following Programmes only:

·         MBA (International Transportation and Logistics Management) 2-Year [Campus: Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Cochin]

·         MBA (Port and Shipping Management) 2-Year  [Campus: Chennai, Cochin]

N.B - The results of the CETs are valid for that particular Academic session only.

Registration Fee is Rs.1000 for General/OBC-NCL candidates and Rs.700 for SC/ST Candidates.

The Syllabus for this CET will be as follows:

i.              No. of Questions – 120 multiple choice questions.

ii.             Syllabus - Quantitative ability, Data interpretation, Verbal ability and Logical reasoning.

There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. IMU reserves the right to change the distribution, types, level of difficulty, etc. of the questions asked from time to time.

·         The Computer-based CET is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 04th Jan 2020 between 11 am and 2 pm in a single shift, simultaneously in the following 12 cities across India:

The Applicants can give 3 preferences for the cities where they wish to take the CET while registering online. While every effort will be made to accommodate an Applicant within 3 preferred cities, IMU reserves the right to divert Applicants to the nearest cities if sufficient number of candidates are not forthcoming in certain cities or if there are too many candidates for a particular city.

Eligibility for IMU CET 2020:

MBA (Port & Shipping Management) Chennai, Cochin:

MBA (International Transportation Logistics Management) Chennai, Cochin, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam:

A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from Recognized Universities. A minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th or UG Degree.

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however it will not apply to English marks.

How to Apply IMU CET 2020:

Online Registration of Applicants with facility to upload photograph, scanned signature, scanned copy of the 10th Std. Mark sheet as proof of Date of Birth, scanned copy of 12th Std./ Degree Certificate (wherever applicable), scanned copy of the SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/General-EWS certificate (wherever applicable) and other relevant certificates (wherever applicable). The candidates will be able to make payment for the Registration Fees Online, and download and print the filled in application in standard formats. For Online Registration, applicants should visit the website of the Indian Maritime University and click on the MBA-CET January 2020 hyperlink.

Very Important Note:

·         As majority of the Candidates applying for this programme would be currently pursuing their Under Graduate Programme, they will have to update their status under Academic Details as “Results Awaiting”. However, there will be a provision to fill in the aggregate marks obtained till end of 2nd year (in case Candidate is currently pursuing a 3-year Under Graduate Programme) or till end of 3rd Year (in case Candidate is currently pursuing a 4-year Under Graduate Programme)

·         During Certificate Verification which is scheduled to be held between 03rd and 05th March 2020, the Candidates have to produce the Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Statement of Marks during Certificate Verification. For Candidates who had updated their Academic Details as “Result awaiting”, they will have to produce a letter from the Principal/University Authority that their results will be declared on or before 30.08.2020 and that the Candidate has no arrears till Last Semester.

·         The Candidate will have to give an undertaking on the day of Certificate Verification, that in the event of non-clearing of subjects and non-producing of the Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Statement of Marks by 30.08.2020, they will forgo the seat as well as fees (Counselling fees of Rs.10,000/, Programme Fees of Rs.25,000/- and Semester Fees) paid by them.

·         The Candidate will be required to submit the Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Statement of Marks on or before 30.08.2020, failing which the admission will stand cancelled and the Candidate will forgo the seat as well as fees (Counselling fees of Rs.10,000/, Programme Fees of Rs.25,000/- and Semester Fees) paid by them.

·         FacilityforapplicantstodownloadtheirHallTickets/AdmitCardswiththe name of the Test Venue indicated.

·         Automated e-mails/SMS will be sent to every registered applicant on successful registration of Application, uploading of Hall Ticket, publication of results, etc.

Admissions to the UG, PG & Research Programmes for the Academic year 2019-20 through Online Common Entrance Test (CET)

All admissions to the various UG (except BBA), PG and Research Programmes of the IMU and its Affiliated Institutes for the Academic Y ear 2019-20 starting on Thursday, 01st August 2019 will be through all-India Online Common Entrance Tests (CETs) which will be conducted on Saturday, 01st June 2019 between 11 am and 2 pm. Candidates will be required to qualify this CET in order to be eligible for admissions to the respective Programmes.

The following CETs will be held for respective Programmes:

a) CET for UG Programmes [B.Tech (Marine Engineering), B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering), B.Sc (Nautical Science), B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair) and Diploma in Nautical Science].

b) CET for MBA (International Transportation and Logistics), MBA (Port and Shipping Management) programmes and for admissions to the 50% of seats for the non-seafarer candidates to M.Sc (Commercial Shipping and Logistics) programme.

c) CET for M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering), M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering) and M.Tech (Marine Engineering and Management) programmes.

N.B - The results of the CETs are valid for that particular Academic session only.

Registration Fee is Rs. 1000 for General/OBC-NCL candidates and Rs. 700 for SC/ST Candidates.

Eligibility IMU CET 2019:

B.Tech (Marine Engineering) Kolkata, Mumbai & Chennai:

10+2 or equivalent (PCM - 60% average and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination.)

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks, it will not apply to English marks.

There is Lateral Entry into 2nd year of B. Tech (Marine Engineering):

Eligibility for Lateral Entry: Candidates with Diploma in Marine /Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks overall are eligible to apply for Lateral Entry. The applications for this will be invited separately by the respective IMU Campuses/ Affiliated Institutes.

B.Sc (Nautical Science) Chennai, Mumbai, Cochin:

10+2 or equivalent (PCM-60% average and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination.)

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.

B.Sc (Ship Building and Repair) Offered only in one Affiliated Institute

10+2 or equivalent (PCM - 50% average and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination.)

Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) Mumbai & Chennai:

10+2 or equivalent (PCM-60% average) OR B.Sc (PCM)/ B.Sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with marks not less than 60% in aggregate, OR B.E./B. Tech from IIT or college recognised by AICTE with marks not less than 50% in aggregate.

Note: English Marks are to be 50% or more in 10th or 12th or Degree examination. In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.

BBA (Logistics, Retailing and E-Commerce) Chennai and Cochin [Non–Residential Programme]:

10+2 or equivalent (Minimum 60% of Aggregate marks in any stream and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th and/or 12th Examination.)

Note 1: Percentage of the Aggregate marks will be calculated by considering the marks scored in English subject plus the marks scored in Major Subjects (excluding other languages).

Note 2: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.

B.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) Vishakhapatnam:

10+2 or equivalent (PCM - 60% average and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination.)

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.

* There is Lateral Entry into 2nd and 3rd year of B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering).

Eligibility for Lateral Entry

For Admissions to 2nd Year of B. Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering)

(a) Candidates with 60% marks overall in 4-year Diploma in Ship Building Engineering from the Institute of Ship Building Technology, Goa [OR] 3-year Diploma in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from the AMET University, Chennai [OR] 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering from any Institute approved by AICTE, will be eligible for admissions by Lateral Entry into the second year against the available vacant seats at the beginning of the second year.

(b) The admissions will be made in the order of merit based on aggregate percentage of marks.

(c) The candidate should have completed the diploma within its stipulated duration of 4 years or 3 years as the case may be.

(d) Age limit – 18 to 26 years.

For Admissions to 3rd Year of B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)

(a) Candidates with B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair), who have at least 60% marks overall and have completed the degree within the stipulated period of 3 years, will be eligible for admissions by Lateral Entry into the third year. The number of seats for this lateral entry are ‘20’ and available only in IMU Visakhapatnam Campus.

(b) The admissions will be made in the order of merit based on aggregate percentage of marks.

(c) Age limit – 19 to 27 years.

M.Tech (Marine Engineering and Management) Kolkata:

BE/B. Tech in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture with at least 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University. OR Associate Member of Institution of Engineers Part A and B in Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% aggregate marks (by examination). OR MEO Class I Certificate of Competency.

Note 1: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks.

Note 2: Candidates under all categories must appear for the IMU’s Common entrance Test (CET) and qualify in order to be eligible for admission to this programme. However, candidates with prescribed GATE/GRE Scores are exempted from IMU’s CET.

MBA (Port & Shipping Management) Chennai, Cochin:

MBA (International Transportation Logistics Management) Chennai, Cochin, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam:

A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from Recognized Universities. A minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th or UG Degree.

M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) Visakhapatnam

M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering) Visakhapatnam

Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/ Civil/ Marine /Naval Architecture or equivalent with 60% marks in aggregate.

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks.

M.Sc (Commercial Shipping and Logistics) Navi Mumbai & Chennai:

Category-I (Non-Seafarer):

A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% aggregate marks from recognized universities and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th or UG Degree.

Note: In case of SC/ST Candidates, there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; However, it will not apply to English Marks. Candidates under this category must appear for the IMU’s Common Entrance Test (CET) and qualify in order to be eligible for admission to this Programme.

Category-II (Seafarer):

50% of seats in each IMU Campus where M.Sc (Commercial Shipping & Logistics) is being offered shall be reserved for seafarers with Master (FG) Certificate of Competency or MEO Class I Certificate of Competency.

There will be no CET for Category-II candidates.

If the number of applications from qualified Seafarers is less than the number of reserved seats, the vacant seats will be allotted to the candidates from Category-I.

If the number of applications from qualified Seafarers is greater than the number of reserved seats, then IMU will conduct a separate Offline Entrance Test for selecting Category-II candidates for the Programme.

PGDME (Residential) Mumbai Port:

Graduation in B.E. Mechanical / Naval Architecture disciplines from recognized institutes with minimum marks of 50% in final year and with minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.

How to Apply IMU CET 2019:

Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai applications for admission to following UG/PG programmes of Academic Year 2015-16

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) was established on 14th November 2008 as a teaching and affiliating university under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India, with Chennai as headquarters

It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, reasearch and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to acheive exellence in these areas

Common Entrance Tests for Admissions

There will be a CET common to all UG programmes, one CET for two MBA programmes; another CET common to the 2 M.Tech programmes; and yet another CET for the LLM (Maritime Laws)

The Indian Maritime University was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.

Eligibility:

For Graduate: Candidates must be passed in 12th class with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with good academic record from any affiliated board.

For Post Graduate: The candidates must be graduated in any field with good academic record form reputed University.

Selection Process: Students will be selected through their performance in Common Entrance Test 2015

How to Apply:

Application Fee: Appliers have to pay application fee of Rs. Rs. 1000/- for unreserved category candidates and Rs. Rs. 700/- for SC/ST category candidates in the form of Challan in any branches of State bank of India or Indian bank.

Process to apply: Students who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above may apply online. Appliers need to visit the official website that is website. Check the appropriate link and go for it. Fill the online application form and submit it within the provided time.

Paper Pattern:

For UG programmes question paper will comprise of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude questions at Plus 2 level (CBSE, ISE and State Boards).

For the MBAs questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Financial Accounting, Economics, Maritime Affairs, Mathematics at UG level

For the M.Tech questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mathematics and Engineering.

For LLM (Maritime Laws) questions will be asked from English, General Knowledge, Aptitude and General Laws.

The exam will be Computer-based or online and questions will be of multiple choice type.

Candidates who are shortlisted based on CET scores will be called for Counselling at designated IMU Campuses and will involve verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness clearance, and allotment of seats in the IMU Campuses or Affiliated Institutes.

Date and Centres of IMU’s Computer-based CETs 2015 The Computer-based CETs for IMU’s UG and PG programmes are scheduled to be held on 25th April 2015 Afternoon between 02.00 pm and 05.00 pm in a single shift.

They will be held simultaneously in the following 35 cities across in India: Agra, Guwahati, Patna, Ahmedabad, Hubli, Port Blair, Allahabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore, Jabalpur, Raipur, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Shimla, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Siliguri, Chennai, Kota, Srinagar, Cochin, Lucknow, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, Meerut, Visakhapatnam, Dehradun, Mumbai, Delhi and Nagpur.
