About College:

The Central University of Jharkhand was established through the Central University Act, 2009. The University started with a vision to specially focus on relevant present age educational drives with an emphasis on research in cutting edge technologies. It offers 5-year integrated (UG/PG), Post graduate and Ph.D. programmes in almost all its Schools/ Centres of studies. The University is open to new ideas in course curricula and research proposals, collaboration, interaction and capacity building programmes. Being located in Jharkhand, the study of culture is the thrust area of the University as manifested in Centre for Indigenous Culture Studies, Centre for Tribal & Customary Law, Centre for Tribal Folklore, Language & Literature and Music & Performing Arts. The CUJ Faculty have been awarded National and International Fellowships, project funding and recognition and are constantly contributing to the Government Sector, Public and Private Sector organisations through teaching and consulting. The students have also won accolades in national level academics and extramural activities.

Campus

The present campus of the University is located at Brambe, a 25 km drive from Ranchi city, in the State of Jharkhand, India. It located in 45 acres beautiful and vibrant green campus, with classrooms and hostels blending well with the environment. The classroom complex is located inside a mango orchard and the hostels are surrounded by tall Sal trees. In order to preserve the trees, one can find some tree inside the rooms and growing through the roofs. The State Government of Jharkhand allotted a 510-acre land to the University for its Permanent Campus at Cheri-Manatu, about 10 km off main city, construction work has started with a plan to create a campus worth visiting and staying in. The campus is planned to be matchless in its own right by offering an eco-friendly environment for academic pursuit among green architecture and designs, which would beckon scholars to its fold.

About College:

The ninth Indian Institute of Management was established at Ranchi in 2010. This was made possible with the extensive support of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and the Government of Jharkhand, working under the guidance of Ministry of HRD, Government of India. We started at a time when the management education world over was criticized for over emphasis on competition, aggression and achievement of results by any means. The biggest challenge was to revive the aura and exclusivity of classroom-teaching in an era ruled by the advent of technology in education as well. There was an evident void in terms of fulfilling the requirements of firms that employ management students. It was of utmost importance to re-build the curriculum so as to bridge the gap between what was taught and what was needed in the actual business circles. Moreover, it became all the more important to imbibe in students the feeling of returning to the society. We understood the need to incorporate right values in the young minds and also impart education relevant for an information age that encourages networking and collaborative advantage. Also we decided to build contextual knowledge into the programs.

Eligibility:

A candidate for the programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE, or any equivalent qualification from recognized foreign universities or institutions.

Master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with first class

OR

B.Tech/ 4 Years Degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent

OR

Any professional qualification such as CA/ ICWA/ CS with a B.Com/ Degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.

In addition, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) in all their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics, though not mandatory, will be given due credit in the selection process.

Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the programme will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30th June 2020.

Age Limit

A candidate must not be more than 55 years of age as on 30th June, 2020.

Selection Process:

Candidates who fulfill the above eligibility criteria stated above are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years (i.e., on 1st July, 2018 or after) will be considered valid for the admission in Ph.D. Candidates who have already obtained a one/two year full-time classroom-based Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or in any specialized area of management (e.g., PGD in HRM, Agri-Business Management etc.) from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent in last four years preceding 30th June, 2020 are exempted from this requirement, and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.

The candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above will be called for a seminar and personal interview for final selection in April/May 2020 and the successful candidates will receive admission offer by the end of May 2020.

Eligibility:

·         Candidate for the Executive Ph.D.  of the Institute should have minimum 5 years of work experience by 31st March of the target year of education.

·         Candidate for the programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE, or any equivalent qualification from recognized foreign universities or institutions.

Selection Process:

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of scores of standard tests, like, i) CAT OR ii) GATE OR iii) NET-JRF OR iv) GMAT OR v) GRE. Validity of the test scores for CAT, GATE, and NET-JRF will be 2 years (i.e. on 1st July 2018 or after), whereas that for GMAT and GRE will be 5 years (i.e. on 1st July 2015 or after).

The following categories of candidates are to be exempted from standard tests:

i.        alumni of PGP programs of IIMs or accredited institutions (AACSB/AMBA/EQUIS) with CGPA 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent

OR

ii.        Government employees with at least 10 years of administrative experience (central/state civil services/public sector banks/PSUs etc.)

OR

iii.        corporate executives/consultants/NGO professionals with at least 10 years of managerial experience

OR

iv.        management teachers with last qualification from a reputed institution and minimum 3 years of post-graduate level teaching experience

Based on the appropriate criteria, the list of candidates will be shortlisted for further processing and the shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview for final selection in April/May 2020.

Shortlisted candidates would be required to submit reference letters from two referees assessing the suitability of the candidate for the program. Referees may be superiors/clients/academicians having a chance to observe the candidate’s intellectual abilities, interest, and motivation.

Past research   I Ph.D. thesis   work demonstrating     potential    for scholarly  work would facilitate the initial shortlist process.

Eligibility:

Minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM program at the Institute is three / four years bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST) in any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities. A candidate desirous of seeking admission in Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi will have to appear in an all India level management admission test.
