The decade following independence in 1947 was witness to a surge of innovative ideas to build a fledgling independent nation into a model democratic state committed to growth with equity in the development of its people. The establishment of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) was the outcome of one such innovative initiative.

Led by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Shri. Kasturbhai Lalbhai and proactively supported by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Dr. Jivraj Mehta, a group of enlightened individuals set up IIMA. This group ably wove together a coalition of five actors - the governments at the centre and the state, the local industrialists, the Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business School, in a true spirit of public private partnership to establish the Institute. 
The constitution for governance of IIMA was different from that for traditional universities. It was set up as an institution that would be managed by a Society, the IIMA Society, created under the Societies Act, for the purpose. The Institute was to be run by the Board of Governors, constituted by the IIMA Society; the Board would have wide representation from all the relevant constituencies to reflect the multifarious needs of a developing nation. IIMA was therefore conceived as an Institute that would be a Board managed institution, free from exclusive control of any one constituency. Thus, operational freedom is an integral part of the DNA of IIMA.

IIMA has consistently been ranked as the number one management school in the country year after year in the last several years. In its latest ranking, The Economist has ranked IIMA at 56 among the top 100 international B-schools in the world that offer full time MBA. The Financial Times (FT) has ranked the two-year post graduate programme in management (PGP) of IIMA in the top ten programmes in the category of Masters Programmes in Management that do not require work experience as pre-requisite for admission. FT reported that this was the first time that any Indian B-school was not only included in the survey but also achieved such high ranking. The Financial Times has also ranked the one-year post graduate programme in management for executives (PGPX) among the top MBA programmes globally. CEPT University focuses on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. About College:

CEPT University focuses on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. Its teaching programs build thoughtful professionals and its research programs deepen understanding of human settlements.  CEPT University also undertakes advisory projects to further the goal of making habitats more livable.  

The University comprises five faculties.  The Faculty of Architecture was established as the ‘School of Architecture’ in 1962.  It focuses on design in the private realm.  The Faculty of Planning, focused on planning in the public realm, was established in 1972 as the ‘School of Planning’.  The Faculty of Technology, which concentrates on engineering and construction, was established in 1982 as the ‘School of Building Science and Technology’.  The Faculty of Design was established in 1992 as the ‘School of Interior Design’.  It deals with habitat related interiors, crafts, systems, and products. Faculty of Management is a newly established faculty from the Faculty of Technology Management and it focuses on Habitat and Project Management

CEPT University takes its name from the ‘Center for Environmental Planning and Technology’ (CEPT).  CEPT and the various schools that it comprised were established by the Ahmedabad Education Society with the support of the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India.  The Government of Gujarat incorporated CEPT as a university in 2005. The University Grants Commission recognized CEPT University under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 in 2007. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of the Government of India recognizes the University as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO).

·         For admission to M.Pharm Programme, the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (B. Pharm) from a recognised university with minimum 50% of aggregate marks* or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Index (CGPI) or any other qualifying degree examination considered as equivalent of B.Pharm degree by Nirma University, Ahmedabad with minimum 50% marks* or equivalent CGPI. (*As per AICTE norms)

·         Candidates who are appearing for the final semester of qualifying examination (B. Pharm) can also apply. In such case, the candidate is required to submit the result as soon as the same is available either by email or by fax (scanned image).

·         If applicant has passed the qualifying examination from a University other than Nirma University he/she will be required to obtain an eligibility certificate from NirmaUniversity. The arrangement for obtaining the same will be made on the spot at the time of admission on payment of Rs. 500/-.

Stipend
The meritorious students (GPAT / Non-GPAT) will be given stipend as per university norms.

M.Pharm Selection Procedure

·         The eligible applicants with valid GPAT score will be given preference for admission in all the branches and admission will be given based on the merit of GPAT score.

·         The NON-GPAT candidates will be admitted based on the merit of the National-Level written test conducted by the University.  (No separate intimated will be conveyed). The procedure will be initiated only if the seats are vacant after considering the qualified GPAT candidates.

·         For NON- GPAT candidates, the entrance test will comprise of multiple choice questions. There will not be any negative marking. The syllabus for the test will be related to Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Including Pharmaceutical Analysis), Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy of B.Pharm level.

·         If equal rank in case of GPAT candidates and equal score in case NON-GPAT candidates occurs the merit of qualifying examination will be considered
