The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry. Applicants should be working professionals/self-employed 

Graduates (10+2+3) / Post Graduates in any discipline with min. 50% marks [aggregate - considering results of all years (e.g. 3 or 4 together)] recognized by UGC/AICTE.

Selection Process

DFP Operations Management

Course Description:

Doctoral Fellowship Programme (DFP) (Operations Management) (equivalent to PhD)

Eligibility:

Eligibility and Selection Procedure for DFP Operations Management in Indian Institute of Management, IIM, Calcutta

An applicant should have:

A Master’s degree in any subject or equivalent professional qualification with at least 55 per cent marks;

and minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks at the three year Bachelor’s degree level

OR

A First Class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. If "Class" is not given by the institute then 60 percent marks (or equivalent grade point) will be considered equivalent to first class. In addition, all applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination (or equivalent) of a Board or University. Final year students appearing for the Bachelor’s degree examination in Engineering or Master’s degree examination in any relevant discipline can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements for obtaining the degree. The admission of these candidates will remain provisional until they produce mark sheets proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The deadline for submitting the final year degree mark sheets.   For SC/ST candidates the eligibility conditions may be relaxed.

Selection

Applicants for the Fellow Programme will be required to take the CAT or other "test(s) in lieu of CAT"

as specified below.

Fellowship

No tuition fee is charged. Each student is given a stipend of Rs. 20,000/- to 24,000/- per month for a duration of (4+1) years with a possibility of extension upto a maximum of one year and annual contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- in the first year and Rs. 20,000 for 2nd to 5th year. Students may use contingency to buy computer and attending domestic conferences. The Institute provides full support towards participating in one international conference anywhere in the world.

Candidate with M.A. degree in Bengali from any UGC recognized University with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply for admission in the PhD Program

The students who have cleared UGC/CBSE conducted NET/ CSC conducted SET or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M Phil. or equivalent exam shall not be required to appear at the PhD Entrance (written) test as per PhD new regulations 2016

They will have to appear only for the viva-voce

Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the admission test and interview conducted by the university. The entrance test will be of 50 marks written and 50 marks for Viva-voce

The candidate has to write one essay of 20 marks, 20 MCQs of 1mark each with negative marking for wrong answer & 2 analytical questions of 5 marks each. Candidates appearing for written test will have to attain qualifying marks (50%) to appear for the viva-voce exam

Reservation

The policy of reservation will apply in accordance with the power conferred by subsection (1) of section 8 of the W.B. State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2013 (West Bengal Act X of 2013)

Selection Procedure 

Selection will be made strictly in order of merit on the basis of percentage of marks for 60% of seats for C.U. current year students and for the remaining 40% of seats, in order of merit on the basis of the marks obtained at the subject wise Entrance Test for Non C.U. and C.U. current year and back year students 

The Entrance Test for respective course will be conducted through MCQ Booklets and OMR Sheets. The MCQ Booklets will comprise 50 questions with a total of 100 marks; each question carrying 2 marks. Black Ball Pen must be used for darkening the correct answer on the OMR sheet 

Accreditation of Marks: For each correct answer 2 marks and for not attempted answer 0 (zero) mark will be awarded whereas for every wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted (Minus Marking) 

In case, two or more candidates obtain same marks in the entrance test, the candidates with less negative marking will be placed in higher position in the merit list 

Reservation 

The reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) rules 2014 will be followed in respect of admission of SC/ST/OBC-A&B and PwD

A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860.
