About College:

A distinguished group of health care visionaries set up the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in 2009. They were impassioned by the urgent Public Health concerns that faced the nation. The emphasis was on fast tracking health care solutions that would meet the needs of a rapidly developing economy in need of health care intensity for its dynamic population. THSTI was mandated to advance knowledge to health care for the community. In the three years that have followed its inception, THSTI has developed with a zeal befitting the corridors of learning.

Course Name:

PhD in biomedical research [Vaccines and infectious diseases, Translational research in maternal and child health, Drug discovery and mathematical modeling to understand disease biology, Human microbial ecology, Diagnostics, devices and bio-design]

Eligibility:

The candidate must fulfil one of the following criteria:

Group A: must have qualified in the junior research fellowship examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (category I only), BINC (for bioinformatics & computer science) or NBHM which provides fellowship for the entire duration (5 years) of their PhD program.

Should have a Master’s degree in any branch of biomedical/life sciences (including veterinary science, public health), bioinformatics, computer science or Mathematics from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade B in the UGC 7-point scale) or a B Tech in Biotechnology.

Group B:

·         MBBS

·         BE/B Tech (Computer Science) with a valid GATE qualifying score

·         MSc – Mathematics

Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to fulfil the above academic/ fellowship requirements at the time of joining the PHD program.

A relaxation in marks/grade during Master’s Degree for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and any other categories will be applicable as per the UGC notification, 5th May 2016 or subsequent notification in effect of at the time of interview

Selection procedure:

Names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on our website by 17th November. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an admission test at THSTI on the 3 rd of December at 9:30 am. Applicants who clear the admission test will be interviewed on 3 rd and 4 th December 2018. Final selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website within one working week of the interview. Selected candidates should interact with potential PhD supervisors and provide their choice of supervisors for lab rotations by 4 PM on 24th December 2018.

Fellowship:

Students from group A recommended for admission to the PhD program and holding fellowship from any of the above agencies will be required to utilize their own fellowship. Candidates with professional degrees (Group B) selected through the admission process will be awarded THSTI fellowships equivalent to the CSIR-UGC Fellowship amount.

Fees: Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees or any other fees levied by JNU shall be payable by the student.

Hostel: Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.

How to apply:

Application procedure: Candidates fulfilling the above requirements must apply online. Please take a print out of the application, sign and send it to the Officer (Academics) of the institute at the above address along with the application fee and self-attested copies of documents in support of eligibility so as to reach by 10th November 2018.

Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delay. Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

Application fee: Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500 for General and OBC candidates, and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/differently-abled candidates should be paid by bank draft in favor of Translational Health Science and Technology Institute payable at Faridabad. Eligibility:

Eligibility for PGPM & PGPHRM:

·         The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.

·         The candidate must have minimum 3 year’s Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent examination) and completing all requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree by 30th June, 2019 can also apply, subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 1st October, 2019; otherwise they may be asked to withdraw from the programme.

Selection Process:

Candidates who have appeared for the CAT (2018) will be short listed on the basis of the details filled in the application form and their CAT scores. Only the shortlisted candidates will then be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews during February and March 2019 at one of the centres, viz. Bangalore, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai (centres other than Gurgaon are tentative).

Eligibility for PGPIM:

·         For PGP-IM, on successful completion of the programme requirements, student will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGP-IM) from MDI Gurgaon and MIM (Masters in Management) from ESCP Europe.

·         Candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII along with Masters or Bachelors (4 years minimum) with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and a minimum of 1 year (one-year) of work experience post-qualification (4-year's Bachelor's degree) on the last date of application.

The basis for computing the percentage obtained by the candidate would be based on the practice followed by the university/ institution/board from where the candidate has obtained the degree/certificate. In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution/board from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree/certificate. In case the university/ institution /board does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by MDI by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying fraction so obtained by 100.

Applicants have to apply online by visiting MDI website. They can click on the programme they wish to apply for and follow the instructions given on the website. Online registration will be Open till Friday, November 23, 2018, 17:00 hrs. Candidates have to make an online payment of Rs 3000/-(Incl. of 18% GST) using Credit/Debit card/Net Banking.

NOTE: Applicants have to fill single application form. The preferences of PGPM/PGP-HRM/PGP-IM will be taken only from the shortlisted candidates in the month of January/ February 2019. The shortlisted candidates have to login at MDI website and enter their order of preference for PGPM/PGP-HRM/PGP-IM. Preferences once filled will not be changed at any stage later on.
