FOR ENGINEERING

ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR FOR EAMCET – 2011-2012

 Candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for EAMCET-2011

 Ø       Candidates should be of Indian Nationality or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders.

Ø       Candidates should belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh. The candidates should satisfy local / non-local status requirements as laid down in the AP Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) order, 1974 as subsequently amended.

Ø       For Engineering, BPharmacy (MPC), BTech (Dairy), BTech (Ag Engineering), BTech [Food Science and Technology FS & T)], BSc [Commercial Agriculture and Business Management (CA & BM)] courses:

(i)                Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optionals or related vocational courses in the fields of Engineering and Technology, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, along with bridge course or courses conducted by it for candidates enrolled during 2000-2002 and subsequent batches, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh.

OR

Candidates should have passed or appeared at the final year of the Diploma examination               in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, AP.

(ii)              a) In the case of Engineering, Pharmacy courses, candidates should have completed 16 years of age by the date of commencement of admissions or on such other date as may be notified by the common entrance test committee. There is no upper age limit.

b) In the case of BTech (Dairy Technology), BTech (Ag Engineering), BTech (FS &T) and  BSc (CA & BM) offered in Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates and 25 years in respect of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Ø       (i) For Pharm-D course candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optionals conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, as equivalent thereto or should have passed or appeared at the final year of the Diploma Examination in Pharmacy course conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and training.

(ii) The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission to the above course.

FOR AGRICULTURE AND MEDICINE

Candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for EAMCET-2011

1.      Candidates should be of Indian Nationality or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders.

2.      Candidates should belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh. The candidates should satisfy local/non-local status requirements as laid down in the AP Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) order, 1974 as subsequently amended.

3.      A.        I.      Irrespective of the subjects taken at the qualifying examination, candidates seeking admission to the above courses should appear for Biology, Physics and Chemistry in EAMCET -2011.(AM Category)

    II.      Candidates should complete 17years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates and 25 years in respect of SC/ST candidates as on 31st December of the year of admission.

3. B. For MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BNYS Courses:

(i)                Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optionals including practical tests in these subjects, OR any examination (10+2 pattern) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry including practical tests in each of these subjects, recognized as equivalent to Intermediate by the Board of Intermediate Education, AP

(ii)              Candidates should complete 17years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit.

3. C. For BPharm Course:

(i)                Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of the intermediate examination (10+2 pattern) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optionals, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P. as equivalent thereto.

(ii)              Candidates should have completed 16 years of age by the date of commencement of admission or on such other date as may be notified by the CET committee. There is no upper age limit

3. D. For BTech (Bio-Technology) Course:

Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of the intermediate examination (10+2 pattern) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optionals, along with the bridge course examination in mathematics conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education; Govt. of AP shall be eligible.

3. E. For Pharm-D Course:

(i)                candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh as equivalent thereto or should have passed or appeared at the final year of the diploma examination in pharmacy course conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and Training or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh.

(ii)              The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission to the above course.

PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION

Online submission:

For online submission a candidate has to purchase a DD for Rs 250/- in favour of Secretary, AP State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad, payable at Hyderabad or you can also pay through AP Online citizen portal https://secure.aponline.gov.in and take a printout of the receipt. and enter the  http://www.apeamcet.org and submit the application duly incorporating a scanned photograph and signature. After submission a registered number for future reference is generated. The candidate has to download and take print out of filled in application. Arrange the application along with requisite enclosures

and DD/AP Online receipt in A4 size cover and send it to the Convener,EAMCET-2011-2012, Examinations Building, Ground Floor, JNT University Hyderabad, Kukatpally, Hyderabad - 500 085 by Regd Post, so as to reach on or before 5.00 PM on 16-03-2011 without late fee.

Those who are submitting the application in online after 16-03-2011 must send a DD /AP Online receipt (Rs.250/- for application cost + late fee) in favour of Secretary, A.P. State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad. The details of DD /AP Online receipt should be mentioned on the top of envelope. For further

details regarding online submission visit the http://www.apeamcet.org. The registration number should be used for any further correspondence till the hall ticket is issued.

Entrance Examination for AIIMS-MBBS Course August 2011

Applications are Invited In the prescribed form for admission to MBBS Course commencing on 1st August, 2011. Entrance Examination will be held on 01.06.2011 (Wednesday). Application forms, complete in all respects, must reach AIIMS, New Delhi latest by 5.00 PM on 15.03.2011.

Eligibility Criteria:

(i) Candidates who have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English securing a minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates) aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or whose results of Class-XI I are likely to be declared by 7th July, 2011 are eligible to apply,

(ii) The candidate should have attained the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on 31st December, 2011.

How to apply:-

The Prospectus-cum-Application Form costing Rs 1000/- (Rs 800/- in case of SC/ST candidates) inclusive of examination fee can be obtained in the following manner:

Ø       On-line Application: A candidate can submit application On-Line through Internet. Visit www.aiimsexams.org read the prospectus, Help manual, other details carefully and follow the instructions given therein. The candidate can pay the application fee through a challan form (downloaded from internet while applying on-line) in any branch of State Bank of India. Transaction Processing Fee (as applicable) will be payable by the applicant to the Bank. The Candidates are required to bring AIIMS copy of challan form at the time of Entrance Examination on 01.06.2011 along with admit card and handover the same to the Invigilator failing which they will not be allowed to enter.

Ø       Off-line: The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be obtained by Speed Post/Registered Post by sending a crossed Bank Draft for Rs 1050/- For General/OBC and Rs. 850/- for SC/ST category drawn in favour of the "ACCOUNTS OFFICER (EXAMS), AIIMS - MBBS-2011". The Bank Draft should be payable at New Delhi and should be valid up to six months (upto July/August 2011). The request must reach the Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi-110 608 on or before 10.03.2011. The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS and with PIN code. The words "REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FORM FOR MBBS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2011" should be written on the envelope containing request for application form, and also on fop of the request letter. AIIMS will not be responsible for delay in/non-receipt of Application Form caused by illegible or incomplete address. Prospectus can also be obtained by hand from the Reception Counter of Examination Section, AIIMS against Bank Draft for Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC and Rs 800/- for SC/ST category drawn in favour of the "ACCOUNTS OFFICER (EXAMS), AIIMS - MBBS - 2011" as specified above.

NB: Indian Postal Orders, money orders, cheques or cash will NOT be accepted for postal/counter sale.

PRL INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP-2011-2012

Applications are invited from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the broad areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Planetary Sciences, Geosciences, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Experimental Laser & Atomic Physics and Theoretical Physics. Further details about research and facilities available at PRL can be found on (www.prl.res.in).

Eligibility: MSc in one of the following subjects: Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical, Nuclear/Analytical), Geology, Geophysics and Ocean Sciences. A minimum of 60% marks at the Bachelor's and Master's levels are required for all candidates. Candidate must have Physics and Mathematics as the subjects at the Under Graduate level.

ADMISSION THROUGH ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2011-2012

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics (Honours) / Economics (with either Mathematics or Statistics as a subject) / Mathematics (Honours) / Statistics (Honours) / Physics (Honours) / Bachelor of Technology under 10+2+3 (or equivalent) pattern of education with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

II. School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies

Eligibility: (i) For MPhil / PhD in Languages/Subjects other than English, Linguistics and Hindi Translation: Master's degree in the concerned language/subject with at least 50% marks. Eligibility: Master's degree in Portuguese with at least 50% marks or Master's degree in any other Romance Language (Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian) or in English with atleast 50% marks and an Advanced Diploma in Portuguese with atleast 50% marks.

(C) MA in: arabic, chinese, English, french, german, hindi, Japanese, KOREAN, linguistics, persian, russian, spanish and urdu.

Eligibility: (i) MA in English: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks. (ii) MA other than English: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks with adequate proficiency in the concerned language.

(D) BA (HONS) in: aarabic, chinese, french, german, japanese, korean, persian, russian and spanish (with entry points TO both 1st and 2nd Year).

Eligibility: (ia) For BA (Hons): (1st Year): Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent examination with at least 45% marks.

(ib) Certificates of Alimiah and Molvi issued by some Madrasas with at least 45% marks. Names of the Madrasas are detailed in the Prospectus.

(ii) For BA (Hons): (2nd Year): First year of Bachelor's degree or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education with adequate proficiency in the concerned language.

III. School of Social Sciences

(A) MPhil / PhD Programme is offered by the following Centres which have their curricular and research work organized on interdisciplinary basis with a focus on some major problems of study:

Centres: Economic Studies and Planning; Historical Studies; Political Studies; Regional Development (Geography, Economics and Population Studies); Social Systems (Sociology); Educational Studies (Psychology, Sociology, Economics and History of Education); Social Medicine and Community Health; Philosophy and Studies in Science Policy.

Eligibility: (a) For Centre for Studies in Science Policy: Master's degree in Social Science or Humanities or Law or Management with 55% marks or Master's degree in Natural Sciences or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine with 60% marks. (b) For Centre of Social Medicine & Community Health: Master's degree in social sciences or other disciplines allied to public health with 50% marks. (c) For all other Centres: Master's degree in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks or Master's degree in allied subjects or Humanities with at least 55% marks or Master's degree in Natural Sciences with at least 60% marks.

(B) MPh/PhD (Master of Public Health)

Eligibility: MBBS Degree with atleast 50% marks and atleast one year's work experience after internship; or MSc Degree in Nursing with atleast 50% marks and atleast one year's experience in Community Health Nursing. .

(C) MA in: Economics, Geography, History, Political Science and Sociology

Eligibility: (a) For M.A. in History, Political Science, Geography and Sociology: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks. (b) For M.A. in Economics: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks, and Mathematics either at 10+2 level or at Bachelor's level, either as subsidiary or as honours.

IV. School of Life Sciences

(A) MPhil / PhD in areas of interdisciplinary research in molecular Biology, genetic engineering, plant biotechnology, genetics, developmental biology, cell biology, immunology, neurobiology, microbiology, radiation and cancer biology, bio-physics and structural biology.

Eligibility: MSc or equivalent degree, with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics or Physical Sciences, as well as to those with MBBS or MTech or MSc (Agriculture) or MSc (Veterinary Sciences) degree with 55% marks. Candidates having the M. Sc. or equivalent degree in allied subjects of Life Sciences, including Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Zoology, or in Chemistry or Physics with 55% marks are also eligible.

(B) MSc in Life Sciences: An integrated interdisciplinary programme in Modern Biology.
Eligibility: Bachelor's (B. Sc. or B Tech or equivalent) in Biological, Physical or Agricultural Sciences under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

V. School of Environmental Sciences

(A) MPhil / PhD in environmental sciences including interdisciplinary areas of biology (Ecology, biotechnology, biophysics, bioremediation), chemistry (Air, Water, Soil pollution), geology and physics.
Eligibility: MSc degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science or MBBS or BTech / BE with minimum 55% marks.

(B) MSc in Environmental Sciences: an interdisciplinary course with environmental orientation, drawn from relevant areas of biological, chemical, earth and physical sciences.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any branch of basic or applied science under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

VI. School of Computer & Systems Sciences

The school offers academic programmes leading to the degrees in computer science and technology

(A) MPhil / PhD & MTech / PhD

Eligibility: Master's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or in any branch of Science or Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering or Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with at least 55% marks.

(B) MCA (Master of Computer Applications): 3 year programme open to candidates with adequate competence in mathematics.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with adequate competence in Mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

VII. School of Physical Sciences

(A) Pre-PhD / PhD in physical sciences/Chemical sciences/mathematical sciences. the emphasis is on topics of Chemical Physics, Computational Physics, Disordered Systems, Granular Materials, Mathematical Physics, Non-equilibrium Statistical Mechanics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Quantum Chaos, Quantum Magnetism and Strongly Correlated Systems, Quantum Optics, Statistical Nuclear Physics. Experimental areas include Complex Fluids, Materials Science, Superconductivity, Magnetism, Nonlinear Optics, Semiconductors, Polymers and Nanoparticle Physics.

Eligibility: (a) For Physical Sciences, MSc degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics at least up to the BSc level. Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with BTech (Electronics/Electrical) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance examination. (b) For Chemical Sciences, MSc degree in Chemistry or Physics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Organic/Inorganic/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics at the Master's level. (c) For Mathematical Sciences, MSc degree in Mathematics, with at least 55% marks.

(B) MSc in Physics

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined), or in Physics Honours.

VIII. School of Arts & Aesthetics

(A) MPhil / PhD: The School offers MPhil / PhD programme in three different streams - Visual Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies and Cinema Studies. (Admission to the MPhil / PhD is through a separate entrance examination for each discipline followed by a viva-voce.)
Eligibility: Master's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks.

(b) MA in Arts & Aesthetics: The School offers M.A. programme with cross disciplinary study of the Visual, Cinematic and Performing Arts.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

IX. School of COMPUTATIONAL AND INTEGRATIVE SCIENCES

(A) Pre-PhD / PhD in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics

ELIGIBILITY: (a) Master's Degree in any branch of Sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science / MCA.

(b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI.

(c) BTech or BE or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, BPharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks.

(B) MTech in computational and systems biology

Eligibility: (a) Master's Degree in any branch of Sciences including Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical, Statistics, Computer Sciences/MCA. (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI. (c) BTech or BE or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, BPharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks and Mathematics till class XII is compulsory.

X. SCHOOL OF Biotechnology

Pre-PhD / PhD in areas of Gene Transfer and Expression in Eukaryotic system, Transcription Control and Gene Regulation, Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases, Protein folding and Stability, Optimization of Recombinant Protein Production, Structural Biology & Molecular Bioinformatics, and Biochemical Engineering, Molecular virology, cancer biology, molecular cell biology.
Eligibility: Master's Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or any branch of Physical or Biological or Engineering Sciences with atleast 55% marks.

XI. Centre for Sanskrit Studies

(A) MPhil / PHD in Sanskrit

ELIGIBILITY: Master’s degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to B.A. level) with at least 55% marks.

(B) MA in Sanskrit

Eligibility: Bachelor's Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

XII. Centre for Molecular Medicine

Pre-PhD / PhD in Areas of Metobolic Disorders, Infectious and non-infectious Diseases, Diagnostics and Molecular Endocrinology

Eligibility: Master's degree or equivalent of recognized University/Institution in any branch of biological sciences/MBBS/ BVSc / BPharm or equivalent with at least 55% marks.

 

XIII. Centre for the Study of Law and Governance

MPHIL / PHD IN LAW AND GOVERNANCE

ELIGIBILITY: Master's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy or Law with 55% marks; or 60% in any branch of natural science. Eligibility in Law may be read as: LLB (Three Year) degree after Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks or an LLB (Five Year) degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an LLM degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate. The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the University both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in all Schools/Centres. In addition direct admission to Ph.D. is also offered in Centre for Comparative Politics and Political Theory, Adult Education, Women's Studies and Study of Discrimination and Exclusion. Since these are Part-Time programmes, these are intended for candidates residing in Delhi NCR only. Admission to Diploma of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma of Proficiency will be made on basis of the past academic record of the candidate which will be assessed in accordance with the criteria laid down by the University for selection.

Foreign Nationals: All foreign nationals present in India are required to appear in the Entrance Examination subject to their fulfilling minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for Indian students as indicated under Category 'A' above. However, in the event of their selection, they will be considered for admission subject to equivalence of their degrees as per eligibility requirements.

Reservation of seats: 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer). 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programmes of study. 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates (with a minimum of 40% disability). All SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks.

Besides, all candidates who have passed qualifying examination prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study from the identified backward districts, will be eligible for deprivation points. All Kashmiri migrants and wards/widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status (For details, refer to Chapter V of Prospectus). All female candidates are also eligible for deprivation points. Only those candidates will be eligible for deprivation points as stated above who seek admission through Entrance Examination.

Please note that: There is a different Application Form for each Category ie Category 'A' and Category 'D' (Admission through Entrance Examination), Category 'B' (Direct Admission to PhD programmes) and Category 'C' (Admission of JRF holders). Candidates should therefore clearly indicate on the self addressed envelope, the Category for which the Application Form is required by them.

The Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, Mumbai continues the system of online receipt of application form for MCA for the year 2011-12.

Ø        Information brochure along with the Application Kit for the aspiring candidates will be available at the select post offices mentioned below only during working hours of the respective post offices from 07/02/2011 to 18/02/2011 (excluding Public Holidays) against the payment of the application form processing fees.

Ø        It is mandatory to procure the information brochure and go through it carefully. The CET that will be conducted in pursuance of this advertisement is subject to the rules and regulations set out in this information brochure. The further admission process, especially in respect of Private Unaided Institutes will be in terms of the clarification read with aforesaid rules and regulations.

Ø        Submission of the application form in response to this notification will amount to accepting the afore said rules & regulations unequivocally by the applicant and upon such submission it will be presumed that the applicant agrees and accepts these rules & regulations as legal, valid and correct. It will not be open for any applicant, once having submitted the application form to question the legality, validity and correctness of these rules & regulations.

Ø        The Centralized Admission Process will consist of first 2 rounds of allotment and the third (i.e. last) round of counseling. Candidates are instructed to carefully read the Annexure-I of the Information Brochure to understand the eligibility criteria for participating in each round.

Such candidates will be required to register as both J&K and OMS candidate and one Hall ticket will be generated after confirmation of online application form.

Ø        This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

Submission and Confirmation of Online Application Form:

Ø        Aspiring candidates will be able to submit and confirm the Online Application form through the www.dte.org.in/mca through any computer connected to Internet.

Ø        For the submission and confirmation of the online Application Form the candidates are required to use the Application ID and Password provided in the Application Kit. Candidates are also required to upload his/her photo with signature as per the instructions given in the Application Kit. Candidates are advised to preserve the Application Kit carefully and not to disclose the Application ID & Password to others to avoid impersonation.

Ø        In order to take the printout of the Online submitted Application form and the printout of the Hall Ticket for the CET, it is mandatory for all the candidates to confirm the Online submitted Application form and such confirmed applications only will be considered valid for further processing.

Ø        Applications sent by Post/Courier etc. to ARCs/DTE office will be rejected and no communication in this regard will be done with the candidates.

Ø        It should be noted that no documents are required to be submitted at this stage. Candidates are advised to keep the necessary documents ready at the time of Document verification stage scheduled in the month of May/June 2011.

Eligibility for Admission 2011-2012:

I. Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.

 

Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’. Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’.

(A) Keralites: - A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a Keralite. A candidate will be considered as a ’Keralite’, for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if (a) he/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR (b) he/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR (c) he/she has undergone his/her school studies from Standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala. The candidate should obtain relevant certificates in the application form as prescribed in the Prospectus to avail such benefit.

Candidates who are children of All India Service (AIS) officers allotted to Kerala cadre, claiming Keralite Status, should produce a certificate from the competent authority showing that the parent of the candidate is an AIS officer allotted to Kerala cadre.

(B) Non-Keralite Category-I: - ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ candidates are those who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who are the sons/daughters of Employees of the Government of India, or, employees who are serving in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that, all categories of the employees mentioned above should have served in Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, have served in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years. Such candidates will be eligible for admission to all the seats, but they will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.

(C) Non-Keralite Category-II: - Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non- Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite Category-II'. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Private Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions under Government control. Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.

II. Academic Qualification:

(i) Medical Courses: Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together. Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses should secure 50% marks in the Medical Entrance Examination (As per the guidelines issued by Medical Council of India). Candidates should prove their academic eligibility on the date of admission.

Eligibility of BSc Degree holders: Those who apply based on their BSc. Degree, for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSMS Courses, should have obtained their BSc. Degree with one of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology as Main, and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together, provided they have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.

(ii) Agriculture/Veterinary Courses: Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. Candidates seeking admission to BVSc. & AH course, in addition to the qualification prescribed above, should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together (as per the regulation of Veterinary Council of India). Candidates should prove their academic eligibility on the date of admission.

Note: Only those candidates who have secured a minimum of 10 marks each for Paper I and Paper II in the Medical Entrance Examination will be included in the Medical rank list for admission to Ayurveda / Siddha / Homoeo / Veterinary / Agriculture / Fisheries / Forestry Courses. SC / ST candidates will not have any minimum mark restriction for inclusion in the rank list.

(iii) Engineering Courses: The rank list for Engineering Courses will be prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the Entrance Examination and the Qualifying Examination. The marks secured for the subjects concerned (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology) in the Second year Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination will be added to the marks secured in the Entrance Examination for preparing the rank list. The marks of the Kerala State Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Examination will be taken as it is given in the mark list. The marks of other Boards will be considered after effecting the normalization procedure as explained in clause 9.7.4 (b) of the Prospectus 2011. Only those candidates who have secured a minimum of 10 marks each for Paper I and Paper II will be included in the rank list. SC/ST candidates will not have any minimum mark restriction for inclusion in the rank list. Candidates who have passed the qualifying Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/ Biology put together are eligible for admission. Those candidates who have passed the Qualifying Examination should attach the copy of mark list of Qualifying Examination duly attested by a Gazetted Officer along with the application. Those candidates who have appeared/appearing for the Qualifying Examination also are eligible to take the Entrance Examination. They should submit the copy of the mark sheet of the Qualifying Examination duly attested by a Gazetted Officer on or before 31.05.2011 in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

Candidates having Three Year Diploma in Engineering awarded by the Board of Technical Examinations, Kerala or equivalent, having 50% marks in the final Diploma examination, are also eligible for admission. They will be eligible for admission only to the Special Reservation Quota of 4 seats reserved under DE category. Such candidates should prove their academic eligibility on the date of admission. However, the Diploma holders are not eligible for admission to the Engineering courses offered by Kerala Agricultural University.

(iv) Architecture Course: Candidates who have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics as a subject of examination, with 50% marks in aggregate/Candidates who have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks / Candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination are eligible to apply. In addition, candidates will have to score 40% marks (80 marks out of 200) in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC) candidates should also have obtained 40% marks in NATA, as per guidelines of Council of Architecture. (For details, visit www.nata.in).

Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. course should also submit the Application form to the CEE. There is no State level Entrance Examination for this purpose. However such candidates should write the National Aptitude Test for Architecture and should forward the NATA score and mark list of the qualifying examination to the CEE on or before 31.05.2011.

III. Relaxation of marks in the Qualifying Examination: For all courses, a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination will be allowed to those candidates who belong to the communities listed under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and whose annual family income is up to Rs 4.5 lakhs (Rupees Four Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only). SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. But candidates belonging to SEBC categories, seeking admission to MBBS/BDS courses, need 45% marks in Biology/Biotechnology and 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together, in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in Medical Entrance Examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses. Candidates with Locomotory Disability between 40% and 70% need only 45% marks for Biology/Biotechnology and 45% marks for Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry taken together as academic eligibility for MBBS course. They need only 45% marks in the Entrance Examination to qualify for MBBS course.

IV. Age: The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2011.

3. Schedule for the Entrance Examinations:

The Entrance Examinations will be held at all the District Centres in Kerala, New Delhi and Dubai (UAE), on the dates mentioned below as per Indian Standard Time (IST).

4. Application Forms:

(a) Only one application need be submitted for the Entrance Examinations for admission to one or more of Medical, Agriculture, Veterinary, Engineering and Architecture courses.

(b) SC/ST candidates should apply in Pink coloured application forms and all other candidates should apply in the General application form (Light Green). Candidates under ‘Other Eligible Communities' (OEC) should apply in the General application form. Candidates who are children of Inter-Caste Married Couple, of which one is SC/ST, should apply in the form meant for SC/ST.

(c) Application Fee:                General candidates – Rs 700/-

SC/ST candidates  Rs 350/-

Note: - Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates whose annual family income is below Rs.40, 000/- can have Application Form free of cost from the District Offices of the Scheduled Tribes Development Department on production of Community Certificate and Income Certificate.

(d) Application Distribution Centres: The Application form and Prospectus will be distributed from 19.01.2011 to 14.02.2011 through selected branches of Post Offices in Kerala and outside the State. The amount towards the fee of application is to be remitted in cash at the Post Offices. The list of Post Offices, selected as sales centres, is appended separately. Application Forms will not be available by post or sold from the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

(e) Application form: The Prospectus, an OMR Data sheet and an envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will be supplied along with the application form. Candidates should ensure that the Application number printed in the Application Form, OMR Data Sheet and on the cover are the same.

(f) Facility for applying online: Keralite candidates who do not claim any reservation benefit or those belonging to Non-Keralite category can apply ‘Online’ through the www.cee-kerala.org’. On successful submission of the data online, an application number will be generated. The candidates should take a printout of this application. The application fee Rs 700/- can be remitted in any branch of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) using the chalan contained in the printout of the application. The Printout of the application complete in all respects along with original chalan certified by the Bank authorities and other requisite certificates should be forwarded to the Office of the CEE before the last date specified for submission of application forms. Candidates who do not have access to State Bank of Travancore (SBT) can attach a Demand Draft for Rs 700/- drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram, as application fee along with the application form

(Application Number and Name of applicant should be written on the back of the Demand Draft). Online application process will be completed only on receipt of the printout of the application along with all requisite certificates, in the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

(g) Candidates opting DUBAI (UAE) as the Centre for Entrance Examination: Candidates, who choose ‘DUBAI’ as their centre for Entrance Examinations, should submit along with their filled in application form, a Demand Draft for Rs 8,500/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Five Hundred only), drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the 'Commissioner for Entrance Examinations' payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Those applying online should enclose Demand Drafts for Rs 700/- as Application fee and Rs 8,500/- as centre fee. The candidates opting Dubai centre should note that the examinations are conducted as per Indian Standard Time (IST).

Last date and time for receipt of filled in Application Forms: The filled in Application Form along with the OMR DATA SHEET and other relevant documents, to be submitted with the Application Form, are to be sent in the printed envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations supplied along with the application form, so as to reach him before 5 pm on 14.02.2011 (Monday), by Hand Delivery / Registered Post / Speed Post Completed Applications will be received in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on holidays also.

Belated Applications: Belated applications will be rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to apply well in advance. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Certificates that are to be obtained in the body of the Application should be obtained in the body of the Application form itself.

Incomplete or defective applications will be summarily REJECTED and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

The Entrance Examinations and the subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the Prospectus approved by the Government. 3. MTech in Biotechnology

MTech (Biotechnology) Programme at (1) Anna University, Chennai; (2) Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala; & (3) West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one: BTech / BE in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, BPharma, Chemical Technology, OR MSc in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (For Anna University: Candidates with BTech / BE in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and MSc in Chemistry & Physics are also eligible. For West Bengal University of Technology: Candidates with MSc in Bioengineering are also eligible. For Cochin University of Science and Technology: Candidates with MSc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology are also eligible.).

 

Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2009 or thereafter including those who are appearing in 2011 are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination PRIOR to 2009, are not eligible to apply.

Reservation/Concession:

a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.

b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate’s Kashmiri Migrant status.

Tuition Fee/ Scholarship:

Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.

Procedure for getting the form:

By Post: To receive the Application Form by post candidates should send their request only to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, along with a Bank Draft (valid for six months) of Rs 260/-(for one set of Application Form and Prospectus). The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of “Jawaharlal Nehru University” payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 30x25 cms. indicating clearly on the top of the self addressed envelope the programme for which Application Form is required, ie, “MSc Biotechnology” OR “MSc (Agri) / MVSc Biotechnology” OR “MTech Biotechnology”.
