National Institute of Rural Development is an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The institute's services are available to different ministries/ departments of the Central and State Governments, banking institutions, public and private sector organisations, civil society organisations and other national and international agencies connected with rural development. NIRD aim is to examine and analyse the factors contributing to the improvement of economic and social well-being of people in rural areas on a sustainable basis with focus on the rural poor and the other disadvantaged groups through research, action research and consultancy efforts and facilitate the rural development efforts with particular emphasis and focus on the rural poor by improving the knowledge,skills and attitudes of rural development officials and non-officials through organising training, workshops and seminars.

Course Name:

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) Batch-18, Full Time Residential Programme

Duration: 1 Year

·         Qualified in All-India Entrance Test conducted by NIRDPR, Hyderabad

SELECTION PROCESS: Selection of candidates will be made through a process of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal, quantitative and analytical competencies of the students including English Language (or) Should have valid score in any of the qualifying exams: CAT / XAT / MAT / CMAT / ATMA / GMAT during the year 2019-20. Group Discussion and Personal Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates at NIRDPR, Hyderabad.

ENTRANCE TEST: The Entrance Test will be conducted on 19th April, 2020 at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanantapuram. However, NIRDPR reserves the right to cancel any of the centres or add new centres for any administrative reasons and assign any other centre to the applicants.

About College:

Osmania University is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad who rather through a farman or Royal Charter, brought the University into existence in 1918. It is the seventh oldest in the Country and third oldest in South India. Though the need for the University for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government. Sir Hydari, in a memorandum to the Education Minister in Early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University of Hyderabad with 'Urdu' as the medium of instruction "as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State." The University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, was set up on 26th August 1982 through an Act of the A.P. State Legislature (APOU Act 1982). Eligibility:

A candidate should possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) of marks for admission into both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.

Admission Procedure

Admission into M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme shall be through an entrance examination (written test) followed by an interview. However, the applicants qualified at the UGC/ JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil. tests are exempted from appearing for the entrance test provided they register themselves for the admission by paying the requisite fee.

Medium

The medium of instruction and examination for M.Phil. and Ph.D., entrance test, course work and writing dissertation/thesis shall be English only. In case of languages, the medium of instruction and other activities shall be in the language concerned.

How to Apply:

The registration for M.Phil., and Ph.D. entrance examination is through online only. The candidates are advised to visit the Portal of www.braouonline.in. All the particulars of the candidate has to fill in the prescribed application form and pay the requisite fee at any TS/ AP online centres or through and Debit / Credit card on or before 31-12-2019. Upload the relevant certificates as mentioned in the Application Form / Synopsis through online. The registration fee for the above said each examination is Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only). The registration and payment of examination fee commence from 10-12-2019 and last date of registration and payment of fee is 31-12-2019. Please keep a Xerox copy of the print out received by the candidate after registration for future reference whenever necessary.
