Ph D in Management Studies

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance in the form of Institute Assistantships is available to the students admitted to Ph D programmes under Full Time regular registration category. Such students must have qualified GATE.

Presently the Assistantships @ Rs. 31,000/- per month is available to full time students admitted to the PhD programmes.

The NET-LS qualified students may be eligible for Institute assistantship in Humanities and Management provided they have CPI of 7.0 or 70% marks in the qualifying examination. The assistantship is subjected to its availability.

A student shall be assigned duties up to eight hours per week by the Departments to avail the Teaching Assistantship. The renewal of assistantship is contingent on the student's satisfactory performance in the academic programme and in the discharge of assistantship duties on a semester to semester basis.

For the Odd Semester of Session 2020-21, the Institute Assistantship available in each department are as given in Table 2D of Annexure II.

No student shall be admitted to Full time Regular Registration Category without Institute Assistantship or National-level Scholarships/Fellowships. No student can get financial assistance from more than one source at a time.

·         A candidate must hold a minimum 50% in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 10th.

M.Tech in Energy Science and Technology (Course offered by Energy Institute, Bangalore)

Eligibility:

For Regular Category:

1.      B. Tech / B. Engg in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Petroleum Technology & Chemical Engineering or chemical engineering or equivalent degree with minimum aggregate marks of 60% for general category and 50% for reserved category.

2.      GATE / Non-GATE candidates’ entry criteria: 

For candidates with valid GATE score, shortlisting for interview will depend on the cut-off score decided for each program.

For candidates WITHOUT GATE score (essentially the sponsored candidates), for academic year 2018-19, selection will be through a written exam and/or interview. Decision to conduct this written exam to be made depending on the number of GATE applicants in the program.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. Final selection will be made based on the performance in written test/interview, GATE score and previous academic performances taken together.

Eligibility for Sponsorship Category:

Sponsorship basis: Valid GATE score is not required. These candidates will have to qualify in a subject-wise written test/interview. Such candidates will not be eligible for M.Tech. scholarship. The candidate should have worked for the sponsoring organization for at least two years and need to submit a No Objection Certificate, leave approval for at least two years and the company should guarantee continued employment during the period of study.

How to Apply:

Admission Form should be submitted online before the last date as specified under “Important Dates” by paying necessary application fee. Candidates are need to bring all the documentary evidences in original (testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research/professional experience) along with a self attested photocopy of each at the time of interview.

The following types of students will be considered for admission

a)     Regular (Full Time). The students should have cleared GATE. Such students will receive institute assistantship.

b)     Sponsored (Full Time) Sponsored candidates (from Government Organisations, Public Sector Organizations, Other industries) may also be considered after their interviews, but no financial assistance will be provided to such candidates. They should have at least 2 years of work experience.

c)      Part-time students: Those who are employed in reputed institutes or in oil industries and have acquired a minimum of three years of experience can also apply for the registration as Part-Time Ph.D. students at RGIPT.

d)     External candidates with at least 3 years of experience in Government Organizations,  Public Sector Organizations, Other industries having adequate research facilities may be considered. In such cases the research work should be of interest to RGIPT and should be separate from the candidate’s regular work for the organization where the candidate is employed. Such candidates should work under a Supervisor within his parent organization and the overall guidance will be provided by the major guide from RGIPT under whom the candidate should register for Ph.D. No financial assistance will be provided to such candidates. Such applications may be accepted during any time of the year.

Minimum Requirements:

a)         M.Tech degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering with 65% marks or CPI of 7.0.

b)         B.Tech, B.E. Degree in above areas with 70% marks or CPI of 8.0 (for direct admission to PhD).
