Eligibility:

The minimum eligibility criterion is B. Tech. or B.E. or B. Arch. (with mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII), or four year degree programme leading to B. Sc. Engineering (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme), or four year degree programme leading to Bachelor of Science degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme), or Master of Science ( with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme), or Master of Arts in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG Programme) with aggregate of 65% or a CPI of 6.5 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs. 

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

Applicants satisfying minimum eligibility criteria will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. If the number of applicants will be reasonably high, department may set a higher score in academic career as the minimum qualifying criteria to be called for interview. Final selection will be based on Group Discussion, Personal Interview conducted by the Institute, academic career and score of reputed national or international tests for admission to Business Schools as per following weightage:

Qualifying mark for merit list: 50% of total marks irrespective of category. 

NOTE: The candidates appearing B. Tech (final semester) examination may also apply for the above course. However, they have to produce their mark/grade sheet showing 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 (as the case may be) in aggregate latest by 30th September 2020 failing which their studentship will stand cancelled. Such students, at the time of admission, must produce a certificate signed by the Principal or Registrar of the College last attended stating that all examinations including practical necessary for award of the degree have been completed in order to be eligible for admission in the prescribed format [Annexure I], to be uploaded along with the selection list. OBC & PH category students are advised to submit the respective Annexures available in the application portal.

Applicants are advised to (a) read the advertisement carefully, (b) prepare a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- in favor of “Director NIT Rourkela” payable at Rourkela, towards payment of application fee and (c) fill up and submit the online application form accordingly.

Applicants are required to send hard copy of the signed application form along with the Demand Draft to the Registrar, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha, Pin - 769008. However, candidates who will be called for interview are required to submit signed copy of the application form and a set of Xerox copies of all certificates to the HOD on reporting day of the interview. Educational Qualifications:

An applicant possessing the prescribed qualifications shall be eligible for admission to a Ph.D. program of the institute. Degrees obtained through distance education programs shall not be considered. The course as well as University of qualifying degree must be recognized by AICTE /UGC and will be verified by Academic Section before registration. In order to encourage the candidates for interdisciplinary research which is the state of art in today's scenario, the eligibility criteria for Ph.D. is as below:

Master's degree in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 70% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA and a minimum of 10 years of work experience (at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent) in an engineering degree level technical Institute or R&D organization/industry, and Evidence of Master's level R&D work completed. 

Additional Eligibility Conditions for Part-Time Ph.D. Admission

(i)  The applicants should be professionally employed as engineers or scientists in Public Sector Undertakings or Government Departments or national level R&D organisation/national laboratories/industry, having sufficient facilities to carry out research at their place.

(ii)Regular faculty of reputed Institute/University/College having sufficient facilities to carry out research at their place in the related research area. All such candidates should have a minimum experience of two years at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent as regular employee in the sponsoring institute/university/college/organisation or R&D organization / national laboratory/industry at the time of applying for admission.

Minimum qualification for these candidates is the same as for full-time candidates.

Part-time candidates are required to submit a "No Objection Certificate" on a proper letterhead from the appropriate authority in the organization clearly stating the following:

    The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis

    That his/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research.

    Facilities for research in the candidate's field of research are available at the candidate's place of work

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is rated as one of the top technological universities in India. Since its inception in 1960 as the Karnataka Regional Engineering College, the Institute has established itself as a premier center engaged in imparting quality technological education and providing support to research and development activities. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility:

1.    Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a Recognized University with not less than 5 0% marks (or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in the aggregate taking into account the marks scored in all subjects of all the University examination conducted during the entire prescribed period of the degree programme. However, this prescribed minimum marks shall be 45% (CGPA of at least 5.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in the case of SC/ST.

2.    CAT - 2018/GMAT* - 2018/CMAT-2018 Score

Admission is based on the valid Rank/Scores obtained in the CAT/GMAT/CMAT – 2018, Group discussion and Personal Interview.

The selection for MBA programme is done separately by the Institute during March and is based on the criteria specified above.

National Institute Of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar), an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), Silchar. NIT Silchar is situated on the banks of river Barak. In the year 2002, it was upgraded to the status of an NIT from a Regional Engineering College (REC).

Eligibility:

There are two Groups (A and B) of admission under Ph.D. Program

GROUP A: Ph.D. Program - Regular Category who may receive fellowship from the MHRD / CSIR/UGC or any other recognized funding agency

Fellowship: As per MHRD / CSIR / UGC guidelines.

Research Fellowship is available to the scholars who are admitted to Ph.D. programmes in different departments subject to the availability as stipulated by Ministry of Human Resources Development. The award and renewal of the fellowship is as per the guidelines issued by MHRD, from time to time.

Eligibility for application in GROUP A:

1.    Students for admission into Ph.D. Programs in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following criteria:

i)M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). For SC/ST candidates, a minimum CPI of 6.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (55% of marks). and

ii)B.E./B.Tech. with an excellent academic record with valid GATE score and with a CPI of at least 8.0 (on 10 point scale) or equivalent (75% of marks). For graduates from IITs/NITs, the minimum CPI requirement is 7.0 (on 10 point scale). For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 0.5 CPI or 5% of marks.

2.    Students for admission into the Ph.D. Programs in Science departments must have a Master degree in the relevant discipline ) with a valid GATE / UGC (JRF) / CSIR (JRF) / NBHM / NET (JRF) score for admission with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). For SC/ST candidates, a minimum CPI of 6.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (55% of marks) ) with a valid GATE / UGC (JRF) / CSIR (JRF) / NBHM / NET (JRF) score for admission.

3.    Students for admission into the Ph.D. Programs in Management Studies departments must have a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Master’s degree in Engineering /Technology with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks) or Master degree in other disciplines with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks)For SC/ST candidates, a minimum CPI of 6.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (55% of marks) . A valid score in NET (JRF) / GATE/UGC (JRF) is required for all.

GROUP B: Ph.D. Program–No financial assistance or stipend by NIT Silchar will be provided for this GROUP.

Following students will be considered under this GROUP:

I)            REGULAR- The regular students are those who work full-time for their Ph.D. and self-financed.

II)         SPONSORED-who are employed in a Central/State Govt. Departments/PSUs/Reputed Educational Institutes/Research organizations/Reputed Industries for doing research in the Institute on a full-time basis. He / She should have at least two years of working experience in the respective field. The candidate must submit the filled-in sponsorship letter (FORM I) from the employer with the application for admission. He / She shall not be entitled to any financial support from the Institute.

III)       PART-TIME This category refers to the candidates who are professionally employed personnel. They have to stay in the Institute/around the Institute at least during the period of course work so that they can attend regular classes as per the Institute academic norm. The applicant must be an employee of a State/Central Govt. Departments/PSUs/ Reputed Educational Institutes/Research organizations/Reputed Industries at the time of admission having at least one year experience in the discipline in which admission is sought. No financial assistance shall be provided by the Institute to such students. A No Objection Certificate from the Head of the Institute/Organization, in which he/she is employed, must be enclosed with application in FORM II.

IV)        PROJECT STAFF This category refers to the candidates who work on sponsored projects in the Institute.

V)           SPONSORED (EXTERNAL REGISTRATION) - Candidates employed in R&D organizations / educational Institutes having adequate research facilities. Sponsorship certificate (FORM III) from the Head of the organization where the candidate is employed must be enclosed at the time of application.

VI)        INSTITUTE EMPLOYEES- Employees of NIT Silchar

Application Procedure for NIMCET 2016:

·         Candidates can apply online.

·         The non-refundable processing fee for NIMCET-2016 test and counseling for admission to the MCA program is Rs. 2000/- for OPEN, OBC category and Rs. 1000/- for SC, ST category candidates.

Paper Pattern for NIMCET 2016:

·         The duration of NIMCET-2016 examination is two hours.

·         All rough work is to be done in the test booklet only. The candidate should not do any rough work or put any stray marks on the OMR sheet.

·         NIMCET-2016 test will be conducted with only one question paper containing 120 multiple choice questions covering the following subjects.
