Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Full-time or Part-time [Streams in: Agricultural Sciences, Communication, Education, Engineering, Hospitality, Himanities & Social Science, Law, Management, Medical & Allied Sciences]

Eligibility:

A.    The minimum qualification required for admission to a Ph.D. Programme shall be a Master’s Degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade. Relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% to 50% maybe allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently abled candidates.

B.    An Equivalence Committee will be constituted by the Vice Chancellor to consider applications other than covered under section (a) who may propose other qualifications/ requirements in specific areas, consistent with the norms of the statutory bodies, to the URIC for its recommendation to the Academic Council for approval.

C.    If considered necessary, DRC may propose other qualifications/requirements in specific areas, consistent with the norms of the statutory bodies, to the URIC for its recommendation to the Academic Council for approval.

Eligibility conditions for admission

A.    It is desirable that the applicants, who possess minimum prescribed qualifications for admission to Ph.D. Programme, should have an excellent academic/professional track record in the relevant discipline.

B.    The applicant for Part-time Ph.D. should:

I.   prove to the satisfaction of DRC that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research.

II.  ensure that facilities for pursuing research are available at his place of work in the chosen field of research, where required.

Admission Process will be conducted on 15th September, 2018 (Saturday) from 09.30 hrs onwards and the Admission Process shall consist of:

Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission in the Ph.D. program must have secured at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in the concerned subject / allied subject at Master’s level. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

·         The candidate desiring to seek admission to Ph.D. program shall apply online on the University website.

·         The applications will be scrutinized by the Departmental Research Committee  (DRC) concerned. The DRC will call an adequate number of eligible candidates for a Ph.D. Entrance Test. SELECTION CRITERIA

·         A candidate will be short listed for interview on the basis of his/ her score in the entrance examination.

·         A candidate, who has qualified CSIR (JRF) / UGC (NET)/ SET/JEST/GATE/GPAT or has passed M Phil full time regular degree shall be exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test.

Eligibility for PGPM & PGPHRM:

·         The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.

·         The candidate must have minimum 3 year’s Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Eligibility for PGPIM:

·         For PGP-IM, on successful completion of the programme requirements, student will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGP-IM) from MDI Gurgaon and MIM (Masters in Management) from ESCP Europe.

·         Candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII along with Masters or Bachelors (4 years minimum) with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and a minimum of 1 year (one-year) of work experience post-qualification (4-year's Bachelor's degree) on the last date of application.

The basis for computing the percentage obtained by the candidate would be based on the practice followed by the university/ institution/board from where the candidate has obtained the degree/certificate. In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution/board from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree/certificate. In case the university/ institution /board does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by MDI by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying fraction so obtained by 100.

Basic Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates should have at least one of the following qualifications:

·         Qualifications of CA, ICWA or CS with at least 50% marks & Minimum 18 Months of relevant experience at the time of application;

Qualifying Examination:

A candidate should have a valid test score not older than two years from the closing date of application in any of the following tests:

·         UGC/JRF (other JRFs will not be considered)

·         PGDM of IIMs. (The candidates should have obtained the qualifying degree or diploma, not more than five years ago (For all areas)

* Non-Resident Indians, persons of Indian origin and other foreign citizens should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than two years from the closing date of application.

In addition, candidates with 3 years of academic experience and not having any of the above test score may appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) to be conducted by IIM Rohtak for shortlisting.

IMPORTANT:

Those appearing for the final year of eligibility exams can also apply; but, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of the requirement. Such applicants should submit the required proof of their eligibility qualifications before joining the programme.

The respective Areas will decide its own choice of tests (one or multiple) from among the tests listed above. A candidate can apply to two Areas at a time on payment of admission fee separately. Therefore, getting shortlisted or selected in one Area will not guarantee shortlisting or selection in another Area. Further, if different Areas schedule the interviews on the same date and time, the candidate will be required to decide which Area interview s/he would attend and the candidate will not be entitled to claim any special consideration including rescheduling of interviews.

Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly (i.e., without again taking qualifying examination).

Wherever the total and/or the sectional scores of the qualifying examination mentioned above, the candidates should have scored at least 80 percentile in CAT, 85% in GATE in total to be eligible to apply for the FPM of IIM Rohtak. In case of GMAT, the minimum required score, must be 600 and be in the top15 percentile. The actual cut-off scores used by different Areas for shortlisting may, however, be higher than the scores mentioned as minimum eligibility.

Personal Interview:

The number of candidates to be called for interview in each Area will be decided by the Area. The shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIM Rohtak or any other venue fixed by the Institute which will be mentioned in the call letter for interview. In the interviews, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual capabilities, research aptitude and interest in the management discipline.

Eligibility:

Indian students

Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to be apply for admission. Students from the SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PWD categories shall be given a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks. Students in the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided that they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) program.

Eligible students are required to appear for the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) Last date for applying for JGEEBILS: 15 November 2018. Shortlisted students, based on their performance in the JGEEBILS, shall be invited to appear for interview for their final selection to the PhD (Integrated) program. The interview is to assess the student for his science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development. Up to 20 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. There shall be reservation of seats for students from the SC, ST, OBC and PWD categories as per the orders of the Govt. of India in this regard.

Foreign students

Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to apply for admission. Students in the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided that they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) program. Eligible students are required to apply online for admission and fellowship to the program. Shortlisted students shall be invited to appear for a Skype-based interview for their selection to the PhD (Integrated) program. The interview is to assess the student for his science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development. Up to 5 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. Admission of foreign students is subject to them getting the student visa from the Govt. of India.

FELLOWSHIPS

The Indian and foreign students admitted to the program shall receive the RCB-Ramachandran-DBT fellowship Rs. 16000 per month for the first 2 years of the program, after which the Indian students shall be required to qualify for the junior/senior research fellowships offered by CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other such funding agencies. The performance of the foreign students, after completion of their MSc component of the program, shall be evaluated by the Student Advisory Committee and based on its positive recommendation the student shall be awarded the RCB-DBT International Doctoral fellowship equivalent to the fellowships offered to Indian students from different funding agencies as per the relevant DST guidelines. Currently, the amount of the junior research fellowship is Rs. 25000 per month and it is Rs. 28000 per month for the senior research fellowship.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM

The duration of the PhD (Integrated) program is a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 7 years. HOSTEL FACILITIES

On campus shared boarding and lodging facilities are available for admitted students on payment of prescribed fees.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Executive Management Program

Eligibility

An applicant should have:

·         A minimum of 3-year Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE,

·         A minimum of 50% marks in 10th, 12th, and Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent CGPA, and

·         A minimum of 2 years of post qualification executive work experience (excluding stipendiary / training period) as on 31 March 2019 for April 2019 Batch and 30th September, 2019 for October 2019 Batch.

Selection Process

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (Part-time) is currently offered twice a year (viz. April and October). The selection would be based on a MDI Test (conducted by MDI in MDI Campus, Gurgaon) /GMAT / CAT. The candidate with a valid CAT and GMAT score are not required to appear in the MDI written test.

All applicants/candidates will also be required to appear for personal interview held at MDI Gurgaon campus on February 24, 2019 (Tentatively) for April 2019 Batch and September 1, 2019 (Tentatively) for the October 2019 Batch.

Through MDI Test

The candidates will have to appear for a MDI written test to be conducted by MDI in its Gurgaon Campus. This test is on similar lines/of the same pattern as the Common Admission Test (CAT). The MDI test will have sections on quantitative ability, logical reasoning and English language skills. The tentative dates for the MDI Test is February 24, 2019 (Sunday) for April 2019 Batch and September 1, 2019 (Sunday) for the October 2019 Batch.

Through CAT -2018

The Common Admission Test (CAT-2018) is conducted by the IIMs on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Applicants must refer to the CAT Advertisement for further details.

Through GMAT

If the applicant is applying through GMAT, the GMAT score should have validity of 5 years with reference to closing date of April & October 2019 batch respectively.

Sponsorship

The programme would admit both organization-sponsored as well as self-sponsored candidates. A sponsorship letter from the organization would be required in the case of organization-sponsored candidates. A no objection letter from the organization will be required from self-sponsored candidates.

Selection Process

Candidates are required to take Standard Tests like CAT/GMAT/GRE/ UGC-JRF. Candidates must have taken the above-mentioned tests during January 01, 2017 –December 31, 2018. The shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview in April/May 2019 to MDI Campus, Gurgaon.
