About College:

We have always believed that a film school should take a holistic and realistic approach in its teaching. By holistic we mean that film school training should not be limited to only classrooms and lectures on theories and techniques. Therefore, at AAFT we have adopted a comprehensive training method with equal importance on the practical training of film making and acting.
Believing that training and skill building are quite essential in the field of visual media, Asian Academy of Film & TV, has been imparting education and training in the art & craft of film making in television presentation since 1993.
The academy was planned as an alternative to formal film schools and has since come a long way making a unique place for itself amongst the best global centers of education of its kind. Growing to be certified as the first ISO 9001:2000 film school in this part of the world in less than a decade since its inception, the Academy was also approved as an international level training center by the 125 year old City & Guilds of the United Kingdom in the year 2002.

PROFILE

Mass media play a vital role in our lives. The world is today witnessing a revolution in the field of communication, with convergence and integration of communication technologies contributing significantly to the expansion of mass media. Information is being delivered 'live' and directly to the consumer from various platforms. As a result, the demand for training people to meet the new challenges, and the need to understand the media, its reach, access and impact, has increased manifold.

Over the decades, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication has created a niche for itself in the field of mass communication education, research and training and is today recognised as a  "Centre of Excellence".  It is playing a pivotal role by organising suitable training courses to meet the demand for  trained and skilled manpower in today's dynamic media scenario. It provides knowledge and skills to  communicators in a variety of disciplines including print journalism, radio and  television journalism, photo journalism, development communication, communication research, advertising and public relations.

The Institute has, to its credit, highly acclaimed and experienced faculty members drawn from various streams of media. Visiting faculty, including media stalwarts and industry leaders,  too contribute to enrich the quality of the courses offered to the students. Many of the Institute's alumni have risen to high positions in the country's top media houses.

The Institute was established in response to a perceived need to evolve a methodology and a mechanism to make efficient and effective use of communication resources as part of the country's overall development strategy. The blueprint for the Institute was drawn up by a team of internationally renowned mass communication specialists, representatives of UNESCO and of the media in the country. The team was headed by Dr. Wilbur Schramm, a well known authority on communication. It recommended:

'A Centre for Advanced Study in Mass Communication... with responsibilities for consultation, training, and research and development, particularly in the use of mass communication in support of national economic and social development.'

About College:

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University was established in the year 1985 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with an act in the Legislative Assembly. In the year 1990 this University received UGC recognition under 2 (F) and 12-B. National Assessment and Accreditation Council has awarded accreditation with Grade 'B'. The main objective of this University is to preserve, promote and propagate Telugu culture, language, literature fine arts, performing arts and history. To achieve this, the University has started research, courses, publication and other extension activities in these areas.

Considering the importance of Distance mode of Education, to reach the unreached, our University established the Centre for Distance Education in the year 2001 with a unique post graduate course in Astrology. In a short span of time, this course gained popularity within and out side India. This Centre now offers 16 Courses at Certificate, Diploma, Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels in specialized areas like Performing Arts, Language, Literature, Journalism, Astrology and Culture. Launched with a moderate strength of 300 students, the centre now aims to fulfill the aspirations of over 4,000 students spread across India and five other countries. The courses offered by the Centre were duly recognized by

the Distance Education Council (DEC), a wing of Indira Gandhi National Open University, in May 2010. Apart from the main campus at Hyderabad, the centre serves from four other campuses situated at Rajahmundry, Srisailam, Warangal and Kuchipudi. This Centre offers only such courses that are fully supported by the regular departments in the University.
