Announcement of Online Common Entrance Test for Admissions to the August 2020 Batch of MBA Programmes

Admission to the MBA Programmes of the IMU for the Academic Year 2020-21, starting on Monday, 03rdAugust 2020, will be through all-India Online Common Entrance Tests (CET) which will be conducted on Saturday, 04th Jan 2020 between 11 am and 2 pm.

Candidates will be required to qualify this CET in order to be eligible for admissions to these Programmes.

This CET will be held for the following Programmes only:

·         MBA (International Transportation and Logistics Management) 2-Year [Campus: Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Cochin]

·         MBA (Port and Shipping Management) 2-Year  [Campus: Chennai, Cochin]

N.B - The results of the CETs are valid for that particular Academic session only.

Registration Fee is Rs.1000 for General/OBC-NCL candidates and Rs.700 for SC/ST Candidates.

The Syllabus for this CET will be as follows:

i.              No. of Questions – 120 multiple choice questions.

ii.             Syllabus - Quantitative ability, Data interpretation, Verbal ability and Logical reasoning.

There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. IMU reserves the right to change the distribution, types, level of difficulty, etc. of the questions asked from time to time.

·         The Computer-based CET is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 04th Jan 2020 between 11 am and 2 pm in a single shift, simultaneously in the following 12 cities across India:

The Applicants can give 3 preferences for the cities where they wish to take the CET while registering online. A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from Recognized Universities. A minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th or UG Degree.

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however it will not apply to English marks.

How to Apply IMU CET 2020:

Online Registration of Applicants with facility to upload photograph, scanned signature, scanned copy of the 10th Std. Mark sheet as proof of Date of Birth, scanned copy of 12th Std./ Degree Certificate (wherever applicable), scanned copy of the SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/General-EWS certificate (wherever applicable) and other relevant certificates (wherever applicable). The candidates will be able to make payment for the Registration Fees Online, and download and print the filled in application in standard formats. For Online Registration, applicants should visit the website of the Indian Maritime University and click on the MBA-CET January 2020 hyperlink.

Very Important Note:

·         As majority of the Candidates applying for this programme would be currently pursuing their Under Graduate Programme, they will have to update their status under Academic Details as “Results Awaiting”. However, there will be a provision to fill in the aggregate marks obtained till end of 2nd year (in case Candidate is currently pursuing a 3-year Under Graduate Programme) or till end of 3rd Year (in case Candidate is currently pursuing a 4-year Under Graduate Programme)

·         During Certificate Verification which is scheduled to be held between 03rd and 05th March 2020, the Candidates have to produce the Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Statement of Marks during Certificate Verification. For Candidates who had updated their Academic Details as “Result awaiting”, they will have to produce a letter from the Principal/University Authority that their results will be declared on or before 30.08.2020 and that the Candidate has no arrears till Last Semester.

·         The Candidate will have to give an undertaking on the day of Certificate Verification, that in the event of non-clearing of subjects and non-producing of the Provisional Certificate or Consolidated Statement of Marks by 30.08.2020, they will forgo the seat as well as fees (Counselling fees of Rs.10,000/, Programme Fees of Rs.25,000/- and Semester Fees) paid by them.

National Power Training Institute, Southern Region is one of the 9(Nine) Institutes under National Power Training Institute, a Registered Society functioning with the grant-in-aid from Ministry of Power, Government of India. Ph.D./ M.Phil

Eligibility:

·         The candidate’s who are studying Post Graduate programmes and cleared all papers up to III Semester are eligible to apply for M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes. Further, the candidate should produce the evidence for pass in the final semester along with mark statements at the time of interview.

·         University is not responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit.

·         If the particulars given by the applicant found incorrect, the applicant is liable for legal action and his/her admission will be cancelled.

·         Candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in PG degree be eligible to apply for Ph.D./ M.Phil. and the relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled.

Selection Procedure

·         NET / SET / SLET qualified candidates are exempted from appearing Common Entrance Test and No Application fee, however, they need to upload all the required documents in this portal.

·         Common Entrance test for both Full-time and Part-time candidates.

·         Those who have appeared for the Common Entrance Test alone will be considered for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes on merit basis.

About College:

The seed for the establishment and growth of TANUVAS was sown as early as 1876, when the Madras Veterinary College was started as an Agricultural School in Chennai to offer diploma and certificate course in the field of veterinary and animal sciences.  The institute attained the status of a college in the year 1903 (01.10.1903), when it started functioning at Dobbin Hall, Chennai and admitted 20 students for a three-year diploma course called GMVC (Graduate of Madras Veterinary College).

Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc)

Eligibility:

Candidates possessing a BVSc / BVSc & AH degree of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereof shall be eligible to apply. The candidates should have completed their degrees from colleges recognized by the Veterinary Council of India.

75% of the admission strength for the year is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The remaining 25% is reserved for candidates from other states through ICAR. If there are any unfilled seats in Tamil Nadu State quota, the same will be filled with candidates from other States who have applied and appeared for the entrance exam conducted by the University. Candidates from other states will be considered for admission by maintaining a separate rank list only against the vacancies that may arise after filling the Tamil Nadu State quota.

Eligibility:

Candidates possessing a BTech (PT) degree of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University or candidates who have studied a Four Year degree programme in Poultry Technology / Poultry Production Technology shall be eligible to apply.

Candidates with an GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 6.50 out of 10.00 or 65% aggregate under semester pattern alone are eligible to apply for admission to MTech (FT) degree programme. Candidates who have studied under conventional system should possess a minimum of 55% marks in their Bachelor’s degree. For SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass is sufficient.

PhD Degree in Veterinary and Animal Sciences

Eligibility:

Only 75% of the admission strength for the year is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The remaining 25% is reserved for candidates from other states through ICAR. If there are any unfilled seats, in state quota, the same will be filled with candidates from other states who have applied and appeared for the entrance examination conducted by the University. The candidates from other states will be considered for admission by maintaining a separate rank list only against the vacancies that may arise from the state quota.

Candidates with an GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 6.50 out of 10.00 under semester system or 65% marks in the Masters degree alone are eligible to apply for admission to PhD degree programme in Veterinary and Animal Sciences. For SC / ST candidates, a minimum pass is sufficient.
