NEIGRIHMS is an Autonomous Institute established by Government of India in 1987 under the Meghalaya Registration of Societies Act 1983. The then Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi dedicated the Institute to the memory of Late Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister for her commitment to the welfare and affection for the people of North Eastern Region. 

It has now been designed as a Postgraduate Medical Institute in the lineage of AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh. NEIGRIHMS has been the First and the only Postgraduate Medical Institute in the North Eastern Region and third in the country established by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee declared NEIGRIHMS as a National Institute on 22nd January 2000 when he visited Shillong. NEIGRIHMS has also been included in the Prime Minister's Package for North East in March 1997. The total cost estimate of the Institute has been projected at Rs.422.60 crores. The progress and the development of the Institute have been keenly monitored by the PMO. The Action Plan of the Institute has been submitted to the PMO. The Planning Committee headed by the Secretary Health, Government of India, shall also monitor the Development of the Institute.

North Eastern Region has got a population of 38.49 millions (as per 2001 Census) in an area of more than 2.6 lakhs of square kilometers served by 386 hospitals with bed strength of 20620 (Ratio 1:1518, National 1:1412). The doctors' population Ratio in North East is deficient (e.g. Meghalaya 1:4758, National 1:2083). There is 50% overall deficiency in medical manpower and much more (60%) in total health sector. Compared with National norms there has been acute shortage of both health infrastructure and manpower in the Region. Although there are four Medical Colleges in Assam and Manipur, it will be just sufficient to produce the required medical graduates. However, the Region is highly deficient in manpower in Specialties. NEIGRIHMS has been identified as the necessary fillip to make up the deficiency zone in Human Health Resources.

1.      The Applicant should be a Resident Indian National and should have a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) from the North Eastern States including Sikkim.

2.      A candidate must possessed MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India and must have completed the required period of 12 months of compulsory rotating internship / practical training.

3.      The candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from the Medical Colleges which are recognized by the Medical Council of India shall only be eligible. (Candidates may please refer to the list of medical colleges recognized by the Medical Council of India in the MCI Website.)

4.      The candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from a foreign country will have to produce the proof of their having passed the qualifying examination held by the Medical Council of India and also of their registration with the Medical Council of India.

5.      However, a candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by National Board of Examination), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete  can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration0 and the candidate produces a certificate from the Head of the institution that he/she will be completing internship.

6.      The candidates who have already done/are pursuing MD/MS in any subject at the time of counseling shall not be considered for admission to MD/MS courses at NEIGRIHMS. If it is found at a later stage that the candidate has given false undertaking at the time of counseling, his/her candidature/ registration will be cancelled.

The journey of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), popularly known as Pusa Institute, began in 1905 at Pusa (Bihar) with the generous grant of 30,000 pounds from an American philanthropist, Mr. Henry Phipps. The institute was then known as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) which functioned with five departments, namely Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany and Mycology. Bacteriology unit was added in 1907.  The name of ARI was changed to Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research in 1911 and, in 1919 it was renamed as Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. Following a devastating earth quake on 15th January 1934, the institute was shifted to Delhi on 29th July 1936. Post independence, the institute has been renamed as Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

ICAR AIEEA 2017 Details 

ICAR invites online applications from Indian Nationals, in the prescribed format, for 22nd AIEEA-UG-2017 and AIEEA-PG-2017 to fill 15% seats for Bachelor degrees (100% for NDRI Karnal, RLB CAU, Jhansi and Dr. RP CAU, Pusa, Bihar) and 25% seats for Master Degrees (100% seats for ICAR Deemed-to-be-Universities, viz., IARI, IVRI, NDRI and CIFE + Dr. RPCAU, Pusa Bihar) for Master Degrees in Universities under ICAR-AU system including Central Agricultural University Imphal; Central Universities with Agricultural faculty (BHU, Viswa Bharati, Nagaland University, AMU for the academic session 2017-18 

The admissions will be done in the accredited programmes of accredited colleges under the accredited Agricultural Universities only. AIEEA-UG-2017 does not include admission to Bachelor Degree Programme in Veterinary Sciences

ICAR AIEEA 2017 Eligibility Criteria 

Age 

For AIEEA-UG-2017: Not less than 16 years as on 31st August 2017 

For AIEEA-PG-2017: Not less than 19 years as on 31st August 2017 

For AICE-SRF (PGS)-2017 (for PhD): Not less than 20 years as on the date of examination, i.e. 11th June 2017 

Qualifying Examination 

For AIEEA-UG-2017 (Other than Veterinary Sciences): 

Candidates must have obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2 examination or equivalent with PCM/PCB/PCMB/PCF subject combinations/Inter Agriculture for admission under General, UPS (Under Privileged State) and OBC (Non-creamy layer) categories or 40% marks in aggregate for admission under SC, ST and PC categories. However, candidates with PCF combination are eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Horti.) only

For AIEEA-PG-2017: 

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science (renamed as Community Science), Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Forestry, Agri. Marketing and Cooperation, Food Science, Biotechnology, etc., under 10+2+4 or 10+2+5 (B.V.Sc. &A.H.) or 10+6 (B.Sc. Ag.) years degree programmes (Few seats are available for candidates having Bachelor degree with 10+2+3 (basic sciences) at two ICAR-DUs i.e. IARI & NDRI only), with required OGPA of at least 6.60/10, 3.25/5, 2.60/4 for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/PC categories, the said requirement is 5.60/10, 2.75/5, 2.20/4, respectively 

In other cases, where grade points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS categories; whereas for SC/ST/PC, the requirement is 50% marks (equivalence between OGPA and % marks will not be acceptable)

For AICE-JRF/SRF (PGS)-2017 

The candidates must have passed Master’s Degree programme in the concerned discipline securing Overall Grade Point Average of at least 6.50/10.00 scale, 3.25/5.00 scale, 2.60/4.00 scale for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS Categories and 5.50/10.00, 2.75/5.00, 2.20/4.00 scale for SC/ST/PC categories, respectively 

In other cases, where grade points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS Category 

For SC/ST/PC candidates, the minimum percentage of marks will be 50%. The equivalence between OGPA and percent marks will not be acceptable. Candidates must complete the post-graduate degree in all respects and produce the degree-completion certificate from the Registrar to this effect on the date of counseling, failing which they will not be considered for admission and the award of fellowship 

The fellowship would be granted only when the candidate seeks admission through counseling conducted by ICAR and pursues PhD degree in an accredited Agriculture University except an ICAR-DU where 100% seats will be filled up through its own separate national level exam 

ICAR AIEEA 2017 Seat & Reservation 

For the academic session 2017-18, ICAR 22nd AIEEA UG and ICAR 22nd AIEEA PG will be conducted to admit candidates in 100% seats available at ICAR deemed-to-be-Universities namely NDRI, Karnal, RLB Central Agricultural Universities Jhansi, IARI, IVRI and CIFE. The undergraduate courses is offered by the NDRI, Karnal and RLB Central Agricultural Universities Jhansi while PG is offered by the NDRI, IARI, IVRI and CIFE. State Agricultural Universities also provides admission through ICAR 2017 AIEEA UG and PG entrance exam. It offers 15% seats for UG degree courses and 25% seats for PG degree courses 

Reservation criteria is as following: 
SC - 15% seats 
ST - 7.5% seats 
PC - 3% seats 
UPS - 2% seats 

OBC - Reservation in Central Educational Institutions/ Universities will be as per govt. of India rules

The Information Bulletin along with Application Form and other details will be available on ICAR Website www.icar.org.in and Apply online. Fee of Rs.1200/- for General OBC & Rs.600/- for SC/ST and PC Categories shall have to be deposited while submitting the application Online 

In addition, Rs. 25/- per Bulletin would be charged in case of UG & PG as handling charges plus Service Tax, as applicable, in case of purchase against cash (from the Registrars of Ag. Univs specified branches of 

a) Syndicate Bank at specified places as given on ICAR website) 

b) Forms can also be obtained from eight specified ICAR Institutions by depositing DD
