About College:

The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India vide its order no. F. 23-13-2009-TS-III Dated 30th of Oct. 2009 and 3rd March 2010, had decided to set up ten new NITs. In view of the above NIT Mizoram was started in the year 2010 in the state of Mizoram with an objective to impart education, research & training leading to B.Tech, M.Tech & PhD. degrees. This institute has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. Here the students are admitted through All India Entrance Exam- Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main). NIT Mizoram is an Institute situated in the scenic beauty of Mizoram, wrapped between clouds and mountain rocks, which adds to its beauty. Being amongst the most educated states of our country with a literacy rate of 91%, it beholds a very peaceful and calm environment suitable for studies. Ph.D Part time (Visvesvaraya Ph.D Scheme) [Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering]

Eligibility:

(i) M.Tech / M.E. degree in Microelectronics / VLSI or equivalent in an appropriate area with minimum 60 % marks or 6.5 CGPA.

(ii) B.Tech. /B.E. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Computer science & engineering with minimum 60 % marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

Eligibility:

Ph.D. in Engineering: Masters Degree in the area of Engineering/Technology from a recognized University/ Institute with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale or 60 % of marks in the qualifying examinations.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in a relevant area with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or 70% of marks and with a valid GATE score.

Ph.D. in Science (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics): Masters Degree in the area of Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics from a recognized University/ Institute with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale or 60 % of marks in the qualifying examinations and qualify the NET examination conducted by CSIR or with a valid GATE score.

Ph.D. in HSS (English): Masters Degree in the area of English from a recognized University/ Institute with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in 10 point scale or 55 % of marks in the qualifying examinations and qualify the NET examination conducted by UGC.

*Conversion from CGPA to percentage or vice-versa shall not be allowed.

CATEGORIES OF Ph.D. STUDENTS

The Institute admits Ph.D. students under the following categories:

REGULAR

A student in this category works full-time for his/her Ph.D. degree. He/she receives assistantship from the Institute or fellowship from any recognized funding agency depending on GATE/NET (UGC/CSIR)/other qualification.

SELF-FINANCED

A student in this category works full-time or part-time towards the Ph.D. Programme. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/fellowship to such a student.

PROJECT-STAFF

This category refers to a student who is working on a sponsored project in the Institute and is admitted to the Ph.D. Programme to work on a full-time basis. The remaining duration of the project at the time of admission should be at least one year. If the project gets completed before the student completes his/her Ph.D. Programme, his/her category will be converted to that of Self-Financed category.

PART-TIME

A student in this category is a professionally employed person, who pursues the Ph.D. Programme while continuing the duties of his/her service in NIT Mizoram or elsewhere. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/fellowship to such a student

BASE is being modelled on the lines of the celebrated London School of Economics. The first batch of B.Sc. An all India level examination will be conducted for selecting the students to five years integrated M. Sc. (Honours) in Economics course with an option to exit after three years in B.A.S.E. For candidates WITHOUT GATE score (essentially the sponsored candidates), for academic year 2019-20, selection will be through a written exam and/or interview. Decision to conduct this written exam to be made depending on the number of GATE applicants in the program.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. Final selection will be made based on the performance in written test/interview, GATE score and previous academic performances taken together.

Eligibility for Sponsorship Category

Sponsorship basis: Valid GATE score is not required. These candidates will have to qualify in a subject-wise written test/interview. Such candidates will not be eligible for M.Tech. scholarship. No candidate shall be admitted to B. If amount gets deducted from the candidate's bank I card, account but the candidate is not able to register, it indicates that transaction has failed. Such failed transactions are refunded to the same bank 7 card account automatically by the payment system within 7 working days.

About College:

The genesis of the National Archives of India may be traced back to the year 1860 when Sandeman, the Civil Auditor, in his report stressed the need of relieving the offices of congestion by destruction of the papers of routine nature and transfer of all valuable records to a ‘Grand Central Archive’. However, things took a concrete shape in 1889, when Professor G.W. Forrest of Elphinstone College, Bombay was entrusted the job of examining the records of the Foreign Department of the Government of India. Earlier, he had earned reputation as an Archivist for his work in the Bombay Records Office. In his report, he made a strong plea for transferring all records of the administration of East India Company to a Central Repository. As a result, Imperial Records Department (IRD) came into existence on 11 March 1891 which was located in Imperial Secretariat Building at Calcutta (Kolkata). Professor G.W Forrest was made its Officer in Charge. His main task was to examine, transfer, arrange and catalogue records of all the Departments and to organise a Central Library in place of various Departmental Libraries. After G.W. Forrest, the work at Imperial Records Department (IRD) progressed well under S.C. Hill (1900), C.R. Wilson (1902), N.L. Hallward (1904), E. Denison Ross (1905), A.F. Scholfield (1915), R.A. Blaker (1919), J.M. Mitra (1920) and Rai Bahadur A.F.M. Abdul Ali (1922-1938) who were scholars as well as Records Keepers in their own right.
