Eligibility:

Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging SC/ST/OBC.

PATTERN OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

The Entrance Examination will comprise of an objective type test of 100 questions with two parts:

·         Part-I Research methodology: 50 marks

·         Part-II Subject Related: 50 marks.

The questions will be of multiple choice type (four options with single correct answer) to be answered on the specially designed Answer sheet using Black ink Ball Point Pen only. Each correct answer shall be awarded ONE mark.

Note: There is no penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answer marked by the candidate.

The duration of the examination would be 120 minutes (2 hours)

Note:

a) Candidates who are to appear in qualifying examination, whose results are likely to be declared before 31st December, 2019 are also eligible to apply for Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine.

Age Limit:

      Upper Age limit is 40 years as on 01 January 2020.

In April 2012 to pursue the vision of H. H. Dr. Swami Rama, a proposal for establishing a University was put before the Government of Uttarakhand by Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust, a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. About College:

After independence, development of the rural sector was considered the primary concern of the Government of India. In 1949, with the appointment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission, imparting of agricultural education through the setting up of rural universities became the focal point. Later, in 1954 an Indo-American team led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, was constituted that arrived at the idea of establishing a ‘Rural University’ on the land-grant pattern of USA. As a consequence a contract between the Government of India, the Technical Cooperation Mission and some land-grant universities ofUSA, was signed to promote agricultural education in the country. The US universities included the universities of Tennessee, the Ohio State University, theKansas State University, The University of Illinois, the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Missouri. The task of assisting Uttar Pradesh in establishing an agricultural university was assigned to the University of Illinois which signed a contract in 1959 to establish an agricultural University in the State. Dean, H.W. Hannah, of the University of Illinois prepared a blueprint for a Rural University to be set up at the Tarai State Farm in the district Nainital, UP. In the initial stage the University of Illinois also offered the services of its scientists and teachers. Thus, in 1960, the first agricultural university of India, UP AgriculturalUniversity, came into being by an Act of legislation, UP Act XI-V of 1958. The Act was later amended under UP Universities Re-enactment and Amendment Act 1972 and the University was rechristened as Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology keeping in view the contributions of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, the then Chief Minister of UP. The University was dedicated to the Nation by the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on 17 November 1960.

The G.B. Pant University is a symbol of successful partnership between India and the United States. The establishment of this university brought about a revolution in agricultural education, research and extension. It paved the way for setting up of 31 other agricultural universities in the country.

In M.Tech programmes, admission shall be made first based on the GATE qualifying marks in the subject (Major) in which admission is sought. Vacant seats shall be filled based on OGPA/percentage of marks of B.Tech

The candidates should have secured at least an OGPA of not less than 6.000/10.000 or 3.000/5.000 or 55% marks in aggregate in case of the Institutions/Universities where these scales are not applicable in the Bachelor’s degree.

However, admission towards seats for other state candidates in M.Tech Agriculture Engineering major shall be made through Entrance Examination conducted by ICAR

In case, domicile candidates of Uttarakhand are not available for the sanctioned seats, the same shall be filled from amongst candidates of other states.

Selection Procedure for GBPUAT, Pantnagar:

·         The candidates will have to appear in Common Admission Test (CMAT) 2016 being conducted by AICTE, Delhi.

·         The candidates short listed on the basis of CMAT score will have to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) at CABM, Pantnagar.
