About College:

S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) is one of the premier business schools in the country. Since its inauguration in 1981 by the then British Prime Minister the Rt. Hon’able Margaret Thatcher, it has been consistently recognized as one of the top 10 business schools in India.

SPJIMR grew rapidly in eminence from one of the three B-schools in Mumbai in 1981 to one of the top ten B-schools in the country by 1994-1995. The bold move to disaffiliate SPJIMR from the then Bombay University to have freedom in course curriculum, pedagogic innovations and pioneering programmers in socially under managed sectors was a beginning of its journey to achieve the mandate it has given itself in terms of unique innovative and distinct path in management education. The institute has an enviable track record of recognizing the needs of society, especially the under managed sectors, and responding with quick and appropriate responses.

SPJIMR's growth is based on the commitment to diversify into socially relevant segments and activities that are not adequately addressed at societal level, and accordingly impart the requisite management education.

About College:

IIT Bombay, the second in the chain of IITs, was set up in 1958.  It was the first IIT to be set up with foreign assistance.  The funds came from UNESCO in roubles from the Soviet Union.  In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as 'Institutes of National Importance'.  Since then, IIT Bombay has grown from strength to strength to emerge as one of the top technical universities in the world.

IIT Bombay has a total of 14 academic departments, six centres, one school, and three interdisciplinary programmes.  It is recognised worldwide as a leader in the field of engineering education and research.  It is reputed for the quality of its faculty and the outstanding calibre of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Over the last fifty-three years, around 39,000 engineers and scientists have graduated from the institute.  It is noted for its strong research groups in varied areas of science and technology that are making substantial contributions to national projects.  Educational progammes here extend beyond the physical sciences and engineering into humanities and social sciences such as Economics, English, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology and into management studies.  Over the years, the institute has also created a niche for its innovative short-term courses through continuing education and distance education programmes.  In 2011, a total of 1846 degrees, including 173 Ph.D., were awarded, which represents 9.2 per cent increase in the total number of degrees awarded in the previous year.  The faculty of the institute has won many prestigious awards and recognitions, including nine Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar awards.

Residents at IIT Bombay have the twin advantage of being located at the financial capital of India while enjoying the serene environs of the campus located at Powai, situated in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, in Western India.  It is a fully residential institute, with all its students staying on campus.  The students are accommodated in 14 hostels with in-house dining and excellent amenities for sports and other recreational facilities.

To assess the nature and extent of mathematical inputs necessary in applications ophisticated mathematics is involved. and to suggest steps for training adequate personnel specially in areas where

To determine the funds required for these activities and to administer these funds through suitable machinery set up for this purpose.

NBHM usually meets twice a year, to discuss its programmes and various proposals received from it's board members as well as from mathematicians all over the country. It has six sub-committees; viz. the Research Programmes Committee, the University Programmes Committee, the Mathematics Olympiad Programmes Committee, Nurture Programmes Committee, Examinations Committee and Library Grants Committee. They consider proposals, throughout the year, for financial support for varied mathematical activities, from institutions and individuals. Decisions of NBHM are based on the recommendations of these committees. The responsibilities of various committees are described in Annexure I. NBHM normally provides financial support only to Indian nationals and institutions. Currently NBHM grants postdoctoral fellowships, Ph. D. scholarships, M.A./M.Sc. scholarships for research/education in mathematics. NBHM provides financial support to the Mathematics Olympiad activity, run in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, for students at the junior college/high school level.
