Doctoral Programme in Management (Ph.D)

Eligibility:

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the respective/allied subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other reserved categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) from time to time.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of a selection test, called URAT and a Viva-Voce Examination. UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SET / SLET / GATE/ Teacher-fellowship holder may be granted exemption from URAT.

b)    Students having successfully completed Higher Secondary Certificate / Class Xll/ Equivalent Examination of any approved Board / Authority are eligible to apply. Students appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply for provisional admission.

c)    The Application Forms duly filled in by the students in their own hand writing should reach the Corporate Office / Campus within the stipulated date.

d)    The Selection would be based on academic career and written test with equal weightage.

e)    Selection / Admission of an applicant shall be invalidated in case of suppression of fact, submission of incorrect information, forging of documents, etc, if detected before, during or after the Selection / Admission. Such cases shall be reported to the police for appropriate action.

f)    The selected applicants shall have to deposit the registration and / or other fees by the stipulated date, failing which their Selection / Admission will stand invalid. In case a student has paid the registration fee in time but delays payment of the other fees / instalment beyond the stipulated date, the registration fees so paid will stand forfeited and the student will have no claim for admission.

1) Candidates seeking admission to MBA (TTM) programme shall be required to possess a Bachelor degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university (as per the AIU foreign equivalence list) having secured a minimum of 50% aggregate in case of General and OBC categories and 45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories are eligible to apply.

Note: If the seats reserved for SC/ST remain vacant then the same will be filled by the SC/ST candidates who appear for entrance exam irrespective of their ranking in the exam.

Eligibility:

(A) Eligibility Criteria for Institute Scholar:

Candidates who possess the qualifications as mentioned below are eligible for admission into the Ph. D. Programme for full-time with Institute Research Assistantship or UGC/CSIR-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or any other doctoral fellowship offered by Govt. of India (GoI), as the case is applicable. A relaxation of up to 5% marks in all academic examination levels is permitted for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

(B) Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Scholar:

The sponsored candidates are not eligible for Institute Research Assistantship; but they must meet the same requisite standards of marks/grades in their qualifying degree and other examinations as mentioned above. They must also be in continuous service for at least three (3) years in any one of the following organizations, where appropriate R & D facilities exist:

1.    Departments and Ministries of the Government of India or any other government organization.

2.    Established industrial research and developmental organizations.

3.    Recognized autonomous bodies and public undertakings.

4.    Recognized universities/colleges.

(C) Eligibility Criteria for Project Scholar:

The scholars working in sponsored research projects at IIT Bhubaneswar can apply for the Ph.D Programme if they meet the applicable eligibility criteria for admission and have at least two years of fellowship tenure remaining, counting from the academic session or semester in which they are seeking admission. If such a candidate intends to be considered for Institute Research Assistantship after the tenure of the project is over, he/she must present a valid GATE score at that point of time or provide the evidence of a valid GATE score used in the year of admission into M.Tech. or equivalent programme.

3.    The candidate must be UGC-NET(JRF and LS) qualified.

The Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR), Bhubaneswar is a permanent research centre of Indian Council of Medical Research. The foundation stone of the centre was laid by the then prime minister of India Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 29th March 1981.Initially the Center started in a small rental accommodation in 1982 and shifted to the Centre’s own building in year 1990 after completion. Eligibility:

(The qualifications mentioned are required to be from accredited/recognised institutes or universities of India1 OR equivalent qualifications from foreign educational institutes2.)

To be eligible for selection to the PhD programme, the candidate must be a citizen of India and hold at least one of the following qualifications:

A Master’s level qualification3 in Design,

OR

A Bachelor’s level qualification in Design4 from NID,

PLUS

A minimum of 3 years of professional or teaching experience.

OR

Master’ s degree in Philosophy(eg, M.Phil) in Design

Successful completion of Faculty Development Programme of NID

Candidates who are scheduled to complete the final year of their qualifying examinations and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme. In such cases, their candidature shall be provisional and confirmation of selection shall be subject to successful completion of the qualifying exams. On 28th August 2006, the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh announced for the establishment of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Bhubaneswar, which will be operated under the umbrella of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of Govt. of India. He announced that theNISER will facilitate the synergy between research and higher education in science. He had stated categorically that NISER will be compared with the best institutions in the country in terms of facilities and faculty.The Atomic Energy Commission, in its 182nd meeting held on 16.03.2007 approved the proposal for establishment of NISER at Bhubaneswar. Till the permanent campus comes up, NISER will be functioning from the beautiful campus of the Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, a renowned Institute with state-of-art infrastructure that includes an excellent library, a large computer centre and a number of outstanding research laboratories. About College:

Until 1936, when Odisha was made into a separate province, all its colleges were under the jurisdiction of either Patna University or Andhra University. Subsequently, the government of Odisha, headed by Shri Biswanath Dash, the then Prime Minister; appointed a committee on 2nd March 1938 with Pandit Nilakantha Das as its Chairman to examine the possibility of establishing a separate university in Odisha. Then, during the premiership of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, who played a pioneering role in the establishment of the University, the recommendations of this committee were made available. Pandit Godavarish Mishra, the then Minister of Education, introduced the Utkal University Bill, which was passed by the Odisha Legislative Assembly on 30th June 1943. On receiving the Governor's assent on 2nd August 1943, the Utkal University Act, 1943 came into force, clearing the way for the foundation of Utkal University on 27th November 1943. The University started functioning from this date in room no. 15 of Ravenshaw College, Cuttack.
