About College:

National Institute of Design (NID) is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ as per the NID Act 2014, as well as an autonomous institute under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The Institute is empowered to award its own degrees—presently offering Bachelors of Design (B.Des.), Masters of Design (M.Des.), and PhD in Design. The Institute is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has strong linkages with the industry and active collaboration with several design institutes and universities across the world.

In pursuit of its continued commitment to design research, NID started a PhD in Design programme. This programme gives impetus to design research priorities for its current faculty in collaboration with researchers who are selected as PhD scholars under faculty supervision.

Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Design

Eligibility:

The following shall be the minimum eligibility for selection to the PhD programme:

a)    Master’s degree in Design from an accredited institution or recognised University or Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design from the National Institute of Design, Advanced Entry Programme or five-five and a half year School Leavers’ Professional Education Programme Diploma in Design from the National Institute of Design. OR

b)    Master’s degree in Architecture or Fine Arts or Applied Arts from a recognised institution or University with 55 percent marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7 point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or an equivalent foreign degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions and having a graduate or post graduate degree, in Design. OR

c)    Bachelor’s degree in Design from National Institute of Design or National Institute of Design’s Graduate Diploma Programme in Design with three years’ of professional or teaching experience or both. OR

d)    Four and a half year School Leavers’ Professional Education Programme Diploma in Design with three years of professional or teaching experience or both. OR

e)    Master’ s degree in Philosophy (in Design) with 55 per cent. marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7 point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or an equivalent foreign degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. OR

f)    Individuals who have successfully completed a Faculty Development Programme in Design having two years or more duration from the National Institute of Design or any other recognised University.

Candidates who are scheduled to complete the final year of their qualifying examinations and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme. In such cases, their candidature shall be provisional and confirmation of selection shall be subject to successful completion of the qualifying exams. Provisional acceptance will be confirmed only if the candidates secure the minimum grade/marks in their qualifying examination and submit its results to the Institute before the commencement of the programme. Failing this, the provisional status granted to such candidates shall automatically stand cancelled.

About College:

The Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR), Bhubaneswar is a permanent research centre of Indian Council of Medical Research. The foundation stone of the centre was laid by the then prime minister of India Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 29th March 1981.Initially the Center started in a small rental accommodation in 1982 and shifted to the Centre’s own building in year 1990 after completion. The campus of RMRC is located in 20 acres of picturesque landscape in Chandrasekharpur and has its own laboratory –cum- administrative building, animal house, auditorium, guest house & research scholars’ hostel and staff quarters. The concept of Regional Medical Research Centre was evolved during 6th five year plan period in 1980. Under this scheme six RMRCs were set up in different parts of the country. The thrust areas of research and linkages for RMRC, Bhubaneswar have been outlined in the project committee report of ICMR in 1981 under the chairmanship of Prof V Ramalingaswamy and subsequently in the high powered committee report of 1995. For the past 3 decades, the institute has continued to remain as a national and international focus for collaboration in research where clinical, population, laboratory and social sciences are integrated to address the broad issues of health. The strength of these disciplines, combined in a single institution and tightly linked by a common mission, creates a unique multidisciplinary environment for capacity building and research.

Course Name:

Master of Public Health (MPH)

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility:

·         Bachelor degree holders of any institute/University recognised by the UGC having secured at least 50% of marks for General & 45% marks for SC/ST Candidates in the relevant subject, such as Medicine, AYUSH, Dental, Allied Medical & Health Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Nursing, Epidemiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Life Sciences, Population Science/ Studies, Statistics, Biostatistics, Demography, Social Sciences, Social Work, Public Health Engineering, Physician Assistant, Nutrition, Home Science, Community Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Management, Law and Economics.

·         Students appearing in the final degree examination can make a provisional application pending publication of results subject to meeting minimum eligibility requirements at the time of interview. Admission to the course is based on the combined result of written test and interview.

Required documents:

Selection Procedure

·         A selection committee constituted by Director, ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar will select the candidate based on following:

Entrance Test

·         All eligible candidates will have to appear an entrance test to be held at RMRC, Bhubaneswar. All the questions are of MCQ type and compulsory. Each question carries 2 marks. One mark will be deducted per wrong answer.

·         The questions for entrance examination will cover General Public Health Awareness, Numerical ability, General English including Grammar/ Common errors and Scientific awareness up to +2 levels.

Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

1.    **Medical qualification: MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the subject concerned or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) of Examination will be considered eligible for the admission.

2.    **Non-Medical – For non-medical candidates, eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per the requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. in a subject allied to Life Sciences/Bio-Medical Sciences (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. The degree will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category. §  Candidates working under Central Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organization should submit their applications through proper channel i.e. employer. They will be required to submit a ‘No Objection Certificate” from their employer before they are allowed to join the PhD Course.

§  The candidates who are likely to complete requisite qualification and degree by 15th September 2019 may also apply.

§  A candidate who is employed as a Research Fellow in extramural research projects in this Institute provided, he/she possesses the required educational qualifications**.

§  A teacher of the Institute holding a substantive post who is relieved on study leave with salary for a period of not less than two years for pursuing a Ph.D. program.

Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) was established in the year 1989 as an autonomous institute under the administrative control of Govt. of Odisha. Eligibility:

Essential Qualification:

1.    Candidates should have passed their M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.Pharm./ M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in life sciences and allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Biophysics/ Chemistry/ Microbiology, etc.) with minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent grade point). Candidates awaiting final results may also apply, however, if shortlisted, they have to produce their final mark sheet on the date of the interview, failing which they will not be interviewed.

2.    Candidates should have also qualified in CSIR/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF or DBT-BINC-JRF or UGC-RGNF or ICMR-JRF or DST-INSPIRE or GATE or GPAT. If the original certificate is not available, the candidate has to provide a photocopy of the original admit card and the particular result page highlighting their roll number, along with the application.

3.    The candidate should be below 28 years in age, as on 10 th May, 2019. An age relaxation of five years in the case of SC/ST/women/PH candidates and three years in the case of OBC candidates will be given (as per Govt. of India rules).

The fellowship and other emoluments will be as per the guidelines of the funding agencies - SERB/DST/DBT/CSIR/ICMR and as revised from time to time.

To and fro bus/rail fare by the shortest route limited to second class sleeper will be paid to all the candidates appearing for the interview.

Interested and eligible candidates may fill-up the prescribed application form as available in ILS website (www.ils.res.in). The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) located in Bhubaneswar has been brought under the fold of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in August 2002. The institute was earlier under the administrative and financial control of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Orissa.
