Purchase Application form:

1.      The fee to purchase the application form for applicants of General/Defence category is Rs 1500/- and for International/SAARC category is USD 100 or Rs 6900/-.

3.      You can also purchase the application form online via our website or SCDL Associates & HDFC banks from specified locations.

Note: No request shall be accepted to purchase application form by post. Application form fee is non-refundable.

Registration:

Submit by hand or by registered post or by courier, the duly filled application form along with copies of academic documents duly attested by class one gazetted officer or notarised from notary, work experience documents (if any), name change document (if any), 2 passport size photographs, photo identity proof and complete program fee, to SCDL Pune Campus.

Fee Payment:

Submit your complete program fee as per timelines specified online through payment gateway or by demand draft for the enrolled program. The Demand Draft should be in favour of "The Director SCDL, Pune" payable at Pune.

International and SAARC Admissions:

APPLICATION PROCESS

·         Purchase the application form Online for USD 100 or Rs 6900/-.

·         You have to courier the filled application form to SCDL Pune Campus along with necessary documents.

·         Submit the completely filled application form along with attested copies (by Gazetted Officer or notarised by a Notary) of all academic documents, work experience documents (if any), name change document (if any), 2 passport size photographs and photo identity proof.

·         For International and SAARC Students, an address in a foreign country is mandatory, along with address proof or copies of passport page showing visa of the foreign country.

·         Submit Full Fee / First Installment Payment along with the Application Form.

Note:

·         International Students are required to fees in Indian Rupees (INR) instead of US Dollars. The conversion rate of INR to USD will be Rs. 69 to a dollar w.e.f April 01, 2018.

·         The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an organization of South Asian nations. Its seven founding members are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Applicants from the SAARC Countries (Except India), have to pay Registration Fees as mentioned under SAARC Category.

·         International Students may pay Fee via Demand Draft or Cashier's Cheque to SCDL. The Demand Draft or Cashier's Cheque must be drawn in favour of "The Director, SCDL, Pune" Payable at Pune, India.

Selection Procedure

Selection of students is made by the selection committee. Admissions are administered centrally from Pune campus.

Applications are scrutinised, and eligibility is established on the basis of documents submitted Eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises of NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT) (or, other entrance exams as specified below), Personal Interview (PI) and Rating of Application (RA). The details are as follows:

·         NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT) - 150 marks

1.      Quantitative and Analytical Ability - 60 marks

2.      Data Interpretation - 30 marks

3.      Verbal and General Ability - 60 marks

OR, Candidate may also submit valid CAT/GATE/GMAT/CMAT scores secured

·         Personal Interview (PI) - 50 marks

·         Rating of Application (RA) - 50 marks

The RA is calculated on the basis of weighted scores of the cumulative academic performance along with work experience (wherever applicable) obtained from the documents submitted to NICMAR by the candidates. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit. The merit list is drawn on the basis of performance in NCAT/CAT/GATE/GMAT/CMAT, PI and RA. Admission offer letters are issued in the order of merit. Candidate's preference of Program/Campus will be considered, but the allotment will be done at the sole discretion of the admission dept., NICMAR

Admission under Management Quota

The Institute has the policy of admitting a limited number of students under sponsored category, not exceeding 5% of the total students admitted.

Candidates to be considered for admission under sponsored category must fulfil the following requirements:

·         Satisfy all the eligibility criteria for admission to the respective two-year full time post graduate programs of the Institute as mentioned in the NICMAR website

·         Must have appeared for the admission process of the Institute including NICMAR Common Admission Test (or, other entrance exams as specified in admission procedure) and Personal Interview

·         On selection, should be willing to pay tuition fee, which will be 50% higher than the regular tuition fee for the respective program

·         All students who successfully complete the programme under this quota will also be eligible for on campus placement assistance both for summer internship as well as final Job placement.

Eligibility:

1.      Master's Degree of this University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the fields of study notified from time to time by this University

2.      Bachelor's Degree in Engg/Technology of the University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the fields of study with a minimum of 15 years of R&D Experience in National Research Laboratories /Public sector undertakings and with minimum of three publications in refereed impact factor journals or two approved international patents in the last five years

3.      A minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale in the qualifying exam (50% marks or CGPA of 5.0 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST candidates)

Educational Qualifications

1.      PhD Degree in Engineering/Technology: M.E/M.Tech/M.S. (By Research) in the relevant branch of Engineering or Technology

2.      PhD Degree in Science and Humanities: M.Sc/M.A (English)/M.S. (By Research) in the relevant branch of Science and Humanities /MCA

3.      PhD Degree in Management Sciences: MBA/Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management or Administration awarded by Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs)/M.S (By Research) in Management Sciences

4.      Ph.D Degree in Architecture and Planning: M.Arch/M.Plan/M.S (By Research) in Architecture and Planning

Selection Process:

The applications having the consent of recognized supervisor from recognized dept of Anna University, Chennai are only being considered for admission to PhD Programs. Other applications shall be summarily rejected without any notice.

About College:

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities owes its origin to St. Dunstan’s Hostel for the War Blinded established in 1943, which offered a basic set of rehabilitation services to the soldiers and sailors blinded in the World War II. In 1950, the Government of India took over the St. Dunstan’s Hostel and entrusted the Ministry of Education with the responsibility of developing comprehensive services for the rehabilitation of blind persons. Subsequently, services for the blind witnessed remarkable expansion. In the same year, the Government established the Training Centre for the Adult Blind to ensure reintegration of blind soldiers including other persons in the world of work. In 1951, the Government established Central Braille Press; in 1952, Workshop for the manufacturing of Braille Appliances; in 1954, Sheltered Workshop; in 1975 Training Centre for the Adult Blind Women and in 1959, ModelSchool for the Visually Handicapped. In 1963, National Library for the Print Handicapped was established out of which National Talking Book Library was carved out in the year 1990. On integration of all the Units in 1967, the Government established National Centre for the Blind (NCB). This Cent re was further upgraded as National Institute for the Visually Handicapped in the year 1979 and finally in October 1982, it was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and gained the status of an Autonomous Body.
