About College:

One of the first 16 Universities in India, the University of Kerala was founded as the University of Travancore in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore (now southern part of Kerala) in 1937. In 1954, the unified state of Kerala came into being. The Kerala University Act was brought into force in 1957 and the University of Travancore was renamed University of Kerala (a name which was considered even in 1937) with jurisdiction all over the state of Kerala. The Vice-Chancellor, appointed by the Governor of Kerala, is the Chief Executive Officer of the University. How to Apply:

(a) Any candidate who wishes to join PG Degree Programme in the University Departments should compulsorily register online at http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in. A candidate will have the facility to apply for a maximum of 3 programmes through a single registration. On successful completion of the online registration, the candidate should take the printout of the same.

(b) The site is optimized with the latest versions of Mozilla firebox, Google chrome etc,

(c) The candidates are advised to enable “JavaScript” before proceeding with the Registration

(d) Read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the registration.

(e) Do not press “back” button during the process of registration.

Online Registration: The Registration Fee will be as follows:

About College:

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) serves as a regional Institute for Training and Research in Population Studies for the ESCAP region. It was established in Mumbai in July 1956, till July 1970 it was known as the Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) and till 1985 it was known as the International Institute for Population Studies (IIPS). The Institute was re-designated to its present title in 1985 to facilitate the expansion of its academic activities and was declared as a 'Deemed University' in August 19, 1985 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The recognition has facilitated the award of recognized degrees by the Institute itself and paved the way for further expansion of the Institute as an academic institution.

Course Name:

Master of Population Studies (MPS)

Duration: 1 Year

Eligibility:

Candidates having M.A./M.Sc. degree from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in the subjects. Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Population Studies, Political Science, Population Education, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics will be eligible for admission. Candidates having Master degree, other than subjects specified above and having at least two years of experience in Population and Health related field are also eligible to apply. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided if they secure financial support from any outside agency.

Candidates who have already passed the qualifying degree examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled, if s/he fails to furnish final result by September 30, 2020.

The upper age limit of application is 28 years as on June 30, 2020. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS reserved categories and female candidates as per Government of India rules only.

Selection Criteria for MPS Course

The admission to M.P.S. course is through a two-stage process: (i) Online Test, (ii) a Personal Interview. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of Basic General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, English Grammar, Basic Mathematics, Population, Health and Social Science issues. The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card. Based on the performance in the Online Test, shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIPS. Final selection will be based on the weighted average of scores of Online Test and personal interview.

Shortlisted candidates appearing for admission test are entitled to claim sleeper class train fare by the shortest route on production of original tickets and in case of road journey normal fare will be paid only for travel by public transport run by a Government body.

Candidates who have already passed the qualifying degree examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled, if s/he fails to furnish final result by September 30, 2020. The upper age limit is 25 years as on June 30, 2020. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS categories and female candidates as per Government of India rules only.

Students who have qualified UGC/CSIR-JRF or any other national level fellowship are encouraged to apply for this programme. Eligible foreign candidate can also apply for admission, provided they secure financial support from any outside agency/government. Candidate who have already passed the qualifying examination and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, admission of the candidate will be cancelled if s/he fails to furnish the final examination result by September 30, 2020.

The upper age limit is 30 years as on June 30, 2020. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS categories and women as per Government of India rules.

Fellowship: Government of India Fellowships @ Rs. 25,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs. 28,000/- per month for 3rd and 4th years available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for Lectureship in Population Studies or its inter-disciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC. Such Ph.D. fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However the candidates without NET qualification shall be awarded fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs. 14,000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th years, with a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year. In addition, UGC-JRF and other fellowship holders will also be considered for admission.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Part-Time

Eligibility:

The part-time Ph.D programme shall be open to candidates with Master’s degree and at least five years of work experience after Master’s Degree in the field of Population Studies/Demography/Public Health in academic institutions/central and state governments/research and development organizations, who are unable to pursue the doctoral programme in full-time mode. The applicants for part-time Ph.D programme shall be exempted from appearing for the online entrance test. The Pre-Ph.D course work (six months duration) shall be compulsory for the candidates admitted to the Ph.D programme under part-time mode. Total duration of part-time Ph.D programme shall be for a minimum of four years (including coursework) and maximum of six years.

No Age Limit.

Selection Criteria: Candidates should apply online. However, they are required to send a hard copy of research proposal to the Institute. Selection will be selected based on off-line written test and personal interview conducted by the Ph.D Admission Committee of the Institute. Foreign students are exempted from personal interview. The Institute shall not bear travel expense of the candidates called for the presentation and interview.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship (P.D.F.)

Eligibility:

Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Population Studies or subjects related with Population, Health, Gender, Development and Social Sciences are eligible to apply. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission, provided they secure financial support from any outside agency. Female candidates are encouraged to apply for the P.D.F. Desirable: Publications in peer reviewed journals/edited books. The upper age limit is 40 years as on June 30, 2020.

Fellowship: The selected Indian candidates will be awarded Government of India fellowship @Rs. 50,000/- per month for one year.

Selection Criteria: Selection will be based on the research proposal presentation and personal Interview. Foreign students are exempted from personal interview. The Institute shall not bear travel expense of the candidates called for the presentation and interview. All selected candidates shall be paid to-and-fro economy class air-fare expenses at the time of joining and completing the programme. All selected candidates are required to be at the Institute as a full-time research fellow.

M.A. Population Studies (Through Distance Mode of Education)

Eligibility:

Admission to this course is open to all those with a Bachelor’s degree in any social science subject/Health/Maths/ Stats or any similar degree recognized by Indian/Foreign universities with 50 percentage marks for general candidates and 45 percentage marks for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and PWD category. Candidates having master’s degree and also those who are having work experience will be given due weightage. The cut off percentage can further be reduced by the admission committee for candidates with any additional qualifications. Reservation criteria will be followed as per the Government of India norms. Selection criteria: Selection of candidates for the course will be done by a selection committee duly constituted by the Director of the Institute.

Reservation: Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates will be considered as per the Government of India norms.

Dispatch of self instruction course materials to the students by post: The self-instructional course study materials are sent to the students in four lots by post/courier services. The materials include instructions for self- study and self-assessment exercises (assignments).

About College:

The Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi is a Government of India institution and only of its nature in eastern India. The British established this hospital on 17th May 1918 with the name of Ranchi European Lunatic Asylum. It had then a capacity of 174 patients (92 male and 82 female). It catered to the needs of the European mental patients only and it was under the direct control and management of Government of Bihar. In 1922, it was put under the control of a Board of Trustees with various participating state governments represented in the Board and in the very same year its name was changed to European Mental Hospital.

Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing

Duration: 1 year

Eligibility:

A’ Grade Certificate or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.

Selection Procedure

there will not be any written entrance examination, however, there will be an interview for selection of the candidates.

Scholarship: Selected candidates will get scholarship of Rs. 2500/- per month.

How to Apply:
