About College:

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is an advanced research institute established and fully funded by the Reserve Bank of India for carrying out research on development issues from a multi-disciplinary point of view.

IGIDR was registered as an autonomous society on November 14, 1986 and as a public trust in January 1987. On December 28, 1987 the campus was inaugurated by Late. Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India.

Subsequently, the Institute was recognized as a Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act.  Since then it has been awarded the highest National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rating of A++ (under the old methodology) given to Indian academic institutions.

Starting as a purely research institution, it rapidly developed into a full-fledged teaching cum research organisation when it launched a Ph.D. program in the field of development studies in 1990. The objective of the Ph.D. programme is to produce researchers with diverse disciplinary backgrounds who can address issues of economics, energy and environment policies. In 1995, the institute initiated the M. Phil programme. The M.Sc. programme commenced in 2003 to introduce students to the world of research at an earlier stage.

At present the Institute has about 150 employees and students that include about 26 full time faculty members, 24 non-academic staff and about 90 M.Sc./M.Phil/Ph.D students.

The University of Calicut is the largest University in Kerala. Established in the year 1968, it is the second university to be set up in Kerala. Fee Waivers and Scholarships: A large number of Partial and Full Fee Waivers and Scholarships will be available. The University will Endeavour to see that no deserving prospective student, as far as possible, is denied the opportunity of studying at AUD just because of his/her inability to pay the fees.

Admission Procedure

1.      35 Students will be admitted to each of the above MA programmes in 2017.

2.      Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) are eligible for admission

3.      The final selection for admission will be made after written tests and interview.

4.      Admission will be made according to the procedures and guidelines of the University.

5.      A Bulletin of Information and application forms will be available according to the enclosed schedule on all working days at the University office from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for Rs 50. These can also be purchased at select branches of Canara Bank in Delhi.

6.      Application forms can also be downloaded from the website of the University. There is no provision for online submission. Completed application forms will have to be submitted along with a bank draft of Rs 200 for the first MA programme. An extra charge of Rs 100 will have to be paid to apply for each additional MA programme. For SC/ST candidates the application forms will have to be submitted along with a bank draft of Rs 100 for the first MA programme. An extra charge of Rs 50 will have to be paid to apply for each additional MA programme. The bank draft should be made in favour of ‘Ambedkar University, Delhi’ and issued only from a nationalised bank. Please write your name, the name of the programme applied for and contact telephone number on the back of the bank draft.

7.      The completed application can be submitted by hand at the University Office or sent by post or submitted at select branches of Canara Bank in Delhi. Click here for a list of branches.

8.      The last date for submission of applications is indicated in the Admission Schedule enclosed. Those applying by post must ensure that their application along with enclosures reaches well in time. The University shall not be responsible for any delay on the part of the postal department. Applications will not be entertained after the due date.

9.      The schedule for the Written Test and Interview is available here.

10.  Only a limited number of candidates selected on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be called for Interview. Candidates must check the website and / or the notice boards of the University for the date, time, venue and the list of candidates called for the Written Test. These will be available from the date indicated in the Admission Schedule. The exact schedule for interviews will be posted on the website.

11.  Successful candidates will be required to submit attested copies of a character certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended, a certificate of their date of birth, degree or provisional certificate of the last examination passed, and the statement of marks, as also certificates of belonging to a reserved category, where applicable. They will also have to submit affidavits, both personal and from their parent/guardian, in the format given in Annexure I and II of the anti-ragging regulations. They will be required to bring their original certificates for verification at the time of admission.

12.  Admissions will be made in accordance with the reservation policies of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in respect of various social groups and other categories as applicable to institutions of higher education. Applicants claiming the benefit of reservations will have to produce the requisite certificates from the competent authorities.

13.  A large number of Fee Waivers (Full as well as Partial) and Scholarships are available. The application form for these will be posted on the website for downloading. A candidate who wants to apply for Fee Waivers should fill in such a form and submit it at the time of interview.

14.  The decision of the Admission Committee in all matters of admissions will be final.

15.  The jurisdiction of any dispute will be limited to the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
