About College:

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is an advanced research institute established and fully funded by the Reserve Bank of India for carrying out research on development issues from a multi-disciplinary point of view. IGIDR was registered as an autonomous society on November 14, 1986 and as a public trust in January 1987. On December 28, 1987 the campus was inaugurated by Late. Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India. Subsequently, the Institute was recognized as a Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act.

Starting as a purely research institution, it rapidly developed into a full-fledged teaching cum research organisation when it launched a Ph.D. program in the field of development studies in 1990. The objective of the Ph.D. programme is to produce researchers with diverse disciplinary backgrounds who can address issues of economics, energy and environment policies. In 1995, the institute initiated the M. Phil programme. The M.Sc. programme commenced in 2003 to introduce students to the world of research at an earlier stage. At present the Institute has about 150 employees and students that include about 26 full time faculty members, 24 non-academic staff and about 90 M.Sc./M.Phil/Ph.D students.

Course Name:

M.Sc. (Economics)

Eligibility:

Minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. programme includes one of the following degrees or their equivalents: B.A./B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com./B.Stat./B.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics)/B.Tech./B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level. Reservation Policy as per Government of India Rules. Reserved Category applicants have to produce the necessary documentation as per GOI Rule.

Need-based scholarships are available for Masters students as per Institute’s norms.

Selection Procedure: All candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in an Online test and an interview. The Online test for M.Sc. will emphasize on general aptitude, analytical ability and mathematical skills at appropriate levels. The Online test for Ph.D. will emphasize on English, Analytical ability, General understanding of Economic Environment and Mathematical skills at appropriate levels. In addition M.Sc. students will have to answer a section either on Economics or Mathematics at the undergraduate level.

Course Name:

Ph.D. (Development Studies)

Eligibility:

Minimum qualification for admission to the Ph.D.programme includes one of the following degrees or their equivalents: M.A./M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./B.Tech./B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level. Reservation Policy as per Government of India Rules. Reserved Category applicants have to produce the necessary documentation as per GOI Rule.

Stipend: Ph.D. students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.25,000/- in the first two years. Those students, who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration, will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.35,000/- after Ph. D. registration in the third year.

The Online test will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the following centres: Ahmedabad/Gandhi Nagar, Aizawl, Bangalore, Benares, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh-Mohali, Chennai, Dehradun, Ernakulam/Cochin, Guwahati, Hyderabad/Rangareddy, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata/Greater Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai/Greater Mumbai/Thane/Navi Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Panjim, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam.

The test venue will be notified in the call letter. Based on the performance in the Online test, short listed candidates will be called for an interview at IGIDR around second or third week of June 2020. Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed. The decision of the Institute will be final.

About College:

Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehra Dun made a humble beginning as Forest School established in 1878. Initially named as Imperial Forest Research Institute, FRI came into being in 1906.  Later renamed as Forest Research Institute and Colleges, with a number of centres located at different places all over the country administering research as well as training of Forest Officers and Forest Rangers.  After reorganization of Forestry Research in the country and creation of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in 1988, the training and research centres were given an independent status of institutes. About College:

The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, (DIAT) as it is known today, came into being as the Institute of Armament Studies in 1952 in the CME campus. In 1967, the Institute was renamed as "Institute of Armament Technology, (IAT)", which moved to its present location at Girinagar, Pune. From the relatively narrow scope of Armament Studies alone in the Fifties, the role of the Institute was considerably enlarged by the Defence R&D Council in 1964 and further in 1981. On the basis of accreditation by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Pune University recognised eight courses for the award of ME degree in 1980. The eligibility criteria for admission into the Program are as follows:

·         The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (minimum 55% marks or equivalent) that has been recognized by an authorized body in India. The Bachelor's degree obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or its equivalent.

Sikkim Theatre Training Centre is the first outside Delhi centre of the National School of Drama. Situated in a lush green picturesque valley of Gangtok, the Centre imparts year-long extensive training in theatre. Application categories for PhD admission

Applicant meeting the eligibility criteria may apply for admission to the PhD program under any of the following categories.

A. Regular: An applicant who meets the eligibility criteria may apply for the admission to PhD program as a regular student. Such an applicant has to be a full-time scholar at IIT Bhilai and needs to be present on the campus for the duration of PhD programme as per the rules of IIT Bhilai. A regular student receives Institute Fellowship as per the norms defined by MHRD.

B. Sponsored PhD Programs: An applicant who meets the eligibility criteria may apply for admission to the PhD program under sponsored category if he/she is either awardee of research fellowship from some recognized funding agency (CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR etc. or DST INSPIRE Fellowship) or is sponsored by his/her employer or is ready to self-sponsor himself/herself for the duration of PhD tenure. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for admission.

N.B. - Sponsored candidate DOES NOT receive institute fellowship.

Sponsored candidate needs to apply as one of the following:

i) Full-time: A sponsored applicant may apply for admission to PhD program as sponsored full-time student. Such a student needs to be present on the campus for the duration of PhD as per the rules of IIT Bhilai.

ii) Part-time: Professionally employed personnel such as working engineers, scientists and teachers who can, while employed, attend regular classes as per schedule of IIT Bhilai may apply for admission to PhD program as sponsored part-time student. The applicant must be an employee of a recognized organization and be engaged in professional work in the area to which admission is sought. The student must be available in person for discussion/meeting with the supervisor on a regular basis. The applicant shall give an undertaking endorsed by the employer that the applicant will be relieved to attend all classes.

iii) External: An applicant working in industry / academic establishment / research laboratories having R&D facilities may apply for admission to PhD program as external applicant. Such a student is expected to carry out all/major part of the research work in the organization employing the student. The employer must explicitly undertake to relieve the applicant for staying on the campus to complete the required course work. A certificate to that effect from the sponsoring organization must be provided by the applicant at the time of applying for admission. The student will be under joint supervision of a supervisor from IIT Bhilai and one from his/her parent organization. The applicant shall provide the CV of the prospective supervisor who would supervise the applicant's work at his/her organization. Such applicants may apply as full-time or part-time scholar.

A) External Full-time: An external full-time student needs to be involved in full-time research at the organization employing the student.

Candidate has to apply online from IIT Bhilai website. After filling the details, an Application Number will be generated. Candidate should note down the Application Number. Please note that you have to upload your testimonials wherever it is required to validate your information along with your digital photograph and signature. After final submission of your online application, you will be able to generate your online application print with your specific details/data. This application print may be retained with you for future requirement.

STEP-II: Make Payment

Application fee of 100 INR is applicable for SC/ST/PwD/female candidates and 200 INR is applicable for other candidates. Payment of application fee has to be made through State Bank Collect only. Candidate to visit SBI Collect, for fees payment and select M.Tech Application Fee as per the appropriate category. The candidate has to clearly mention the application id in the correct format (Eg: ME-101) while filling-up SBI collect challan for payment. About College:

Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar came into existence in July 22, 2008, inheriting the brand name IIT. This fact itself charges the Institute not only to be worthy of its inheritance but also to be distinctive and distinguished on its own by ing a path towards novelties. Ph.D. Programme [in: School of Basic Sciences, School of Earth, Ocean & Climate Sciences, School of Electrical Sciences, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management, School of Infrastructure (Civil Engineering), School of Mechanical Sciences, School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering]

Eligibility:

(A) Eligibility Criteria for Institute Scholar:

Candidates who possess the qualifications as mentioned below are eligible for admission into the Ph. D. Programme for full-time with Institute Research Assistantship or UGC/CSIR-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or any other doctoral fellowship offered by Govt. of India (GoI), as the case is applicable. A relaxation of up to 5% marks in all academic examination levels is permitted for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

(B) Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Scholar:

The sponsored candidates are not eligible for Institute Research Assistantship; but they must meet the same requisite standards of marks/grades in their qualifying degree and other examinations as mentioned above. They must also be in continuous service for at least three (3) years in any one of the following organizations, where appropriate R & D facilities exist:

1.    Departments and Ministries of the Government of India or any other government organization.

2.    Established industrial research and developmental organizations.

3.    Recognized autonomous bodies and public undertakings.

4.    Recognized universities/colleges.

(C) Eligibility Criteria for Project Scholar:

The scholars working in sponsored research projects at IIT Bhubaneswar can apply for the Ph.D Programme if they meet the applicable eligibility criteria for admission and have at least two years of fellowship tenure remaining, counting from the academic session or semester in which they are seeking admission. If such a candidate intends to be considered for Institute Research Assistantship after the tenure of the project is over, he/she must present a valid GATE score at that point of time or provide the evidence of a valid GATE score used in the year of admission into M.Tech. or equivalent programme.

Programme wise Eligibility Criteria:

Ph.D. (Engineering)

1.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in M. Tech./M.E. or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with a  valid GATE score in the year of admission into the M. Tech. programme.

OR

B. Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with minimum 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) with a valid GATE score or having secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF. All candidates must have a consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

OR

Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in Master of Science or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record and a valid GATE score or having secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

2.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10 point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

Ph.D. (Basic Science)

1.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Master’s or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

2.    Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

3.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

4.    The candidate must have a valid GATE score or have secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF.

Ph.D. (Geoscience)

1.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Master's or equivalent degree in Geology/Geophysics/Earth Science. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

2.    Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

3.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

4.    The candidate must have a valid GATE score or have secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF/INSPIRE.

Ph.D. (Climate Sciences)

1.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Master's or equivalent degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Marine Science/ Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences/Earth Science/ Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical/ ECE/ Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing/ Computer Science. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

OR

B. Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with minimum 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) with a valid GATE score or having secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF. All candidates must have a consistently good academic record. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

2.    Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

3.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

4.    The candidate must have a valid GATE score in Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences (XE-H) or Valid GATE from other appropriate disciplines or have secured a UGC/CSIR-NET JRF/INSPIRE, or any other National Fellowship.

Ph.D. (HSS&M)

1.    Minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in the Master's degree in appropriate discipline. Provisional certificate is acceptable.

2.    Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) is required in all other examinations. A single relaxation up to 10% marks either at Xth or XIIth level examination or equivalent is permitted.

3.    The candidate must be UGC-NET(JRF and LS) qualified.

N.B. 5% relaxation of marks in all academic examination would be granted to the SC/ST/PwD candidates compared to the General/OBC (NCL) candidates. This is applicable to all candidates.

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering:

Previous Degree: 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in a 10-point scale in B.Tech. / B.E. or equivalent degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Ceramic, Chemical, Mechanical, Production Engineering and allied specializations with valid GATE score or 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in a 10-point scale in M.Sc. in Materials Science along with a valid GATE score.

Essential/Desirable Requisite: Mathematics at B.Sc. level is desirable in case of M. Sc.

Mechanical Systems Design:

Previous Degree: 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in a 10-point scale in B. Tech. / B. E. or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (with a valid GATE score)

Thermal Science and Engineering:

Important Announcement:

1.    The COAP 2020 registration portal has been activated. All GATE qualified candidates, interested to apply for M.Tech. Admission, should register first in the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) before filling online application in the IIT Bhubaneswar website. Visit COAP 2020 website for registration.

2.    After successful completion of registration at COAP, a candidate will receive the "COAP Registration No.".

3.    The candidate has to use this "COAP Registration No." in his/her online application and access information on his/her offers made (if any) from the participating Institutes during the time windows to be announced on the COAP portal.
