About College:

The history of Centre dates back to 1974 when the Department of Electronics (DoE) now Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC) set up the first CEDT within the premises of Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore with assistance from Swiss Development Corporation. A decade after the successful running of CEDT, Bangalore, DoE (now MeitY) set up similar centres at Aurangabad, Imphal andSrinagar in 1987, Calicut, Mohali and Gorakhpur in 1989, with an objective to develop human resources at different levels and in different specialized areas of Electronics Design. Aim was to bridge the gap between the academic institutions and industries. The CEDT centres based at Aurangabad, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Imphal and Srinagar were merged with DOEACC (a scientific society of MeitY) in 2001. In order for its metamorphism into an Institute of National Importance the Society was renamed as ‘National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) on October 10, 2011.

Eligibility:

1.    Candidate’s score in the GATE examination.

2.    Minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST candidates) in their B.E./B.Tech Degree or equivalent in Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunication/instrumentation engineering etc. from a recognized University.

Course Name:

M.Tech in Electronics Design Technology (Part time)

Eligibility:

1.    Candidate’s score in the GATE examination.

2.    Minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST candidates) in their B.E./B.Tech Degree or equivalent in Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunication/instrumentation engineering etc. from a recognized University.

3.    Serving in  Academic institution/industry/R&D organization engaged in electronic product or system development for at least two years after completion of B.E./B.Tech degree.

4.    The Candidate should be sponsored by the employer.

5.    His/Her working place should be within 60 km distance from the institute.

Eligibility:

Three Year Diploma Passed candidates of Electronics & allied streams with minimum 45% marks (40 percent for SC/ST candidates) are eligible for Lateral Entry (Direct Second Year) in B.Tech.

Diploma in Electronics Production and Maintenance (DEPM)

Eligibility:

Xth standard/Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination passed from a recognized Board with a minimum average score of 35% in Mathematics and Science subjects.

Candidate willing to take Admission for any of the course mentioned above will have to register his / her candidature for the Entrance Examination by the On-line Registration process through the link available on the IGTR web site. The application in the prescribed proforma should be filled online. The candidate has to make the payment for registration to On-line Entrance Examination through the link provided in the On-line Registration Process. The Registration Fee of Rs.700/- (Rs.350/- in case of SC/ST candidates) plus applicable taxes is to be paid by individual candidate for a single course. Candidates are given choice to register for multiple courses. Candidates willing to register for more than one course will have to make additional payment for each course as applicable. Registration Fee is non-refundable. Candidates will be allowed to appear for On-line Entrance Examination after successful submission of online registration. The admit card to appear for On-line Entrance Examination can be downloaded on successful completion of online registration process.
