Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) 6th Batch [jointly offered by IIM Calcutta, ISI and IIT Kharagpur]

Eligibility:

·         A candidate must hold a graduate/post graduate degree with any of the following: 10+2+4/10+2+5/10+2+3+2 with a Minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Qualifying Degree (i.e. B. Tech./ B.E./ M.Sc./ M. Com or equivalent).

·         For SC/ ST and Person with Disabilities (PwD) category candidates, the qualifying marks for eligibility shall be 55% or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale.

·         The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks, even if the degree awarding Institute provides marks in CGPA system. Their admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10, the eligibility of a candidate will be based on the equivalence of the CGPA on a 10-point scale.

·         Candidates, who are in the final year, are also eligible to apply provided they appear in the final examination and complete other academic requirements as specified above by May 31, 2020. For such cases, admission will be provisional subject to submission of final mark sheet by October 31, 2020.

Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) [specializations: Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Public Policy and Management, Strategic Management]

Eligibility:

First Class Master’s or Post graduate diploma (2 years) in any discipline and a threeyear Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate; OR CA with minimum 50% marks or CS/CMA with minimum 55% marks, with B.Com degree; OR B.Tech/4 year’s degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent. Non-engineering candidates who have undergone 10+2+5 years will be considered eligible to apply for the Doctoral Programme. A First-Class Graduate Engineers with First Division/ First Class Marks from SLC/ Madhyamik

WORK EXPERIENCE

Self sponsored candidates, not in service. - Minimum 4½ (four and half) to maximum 10 (ten) years of work experience in manufacturing, engineering and related sector; holding responsibilities in production planning and control, research, design and development, quality control, plant engineering, maintenance, supply chain, construction etc.

Sponsored candidates need to have minimum 4½ (four and half) years work experience only. In these cases, there is no upper limit of experience.

Candidates on study leave also need to have minimum 4½ (four and half) years work experience only. In these cases, there is no upper limit of experience and are eligible for participating in the placement process only on submission of “No Objection Certificate” from the Company/ Employer. Please note that participation in placement process does not guarantee placement.

The date of computation of the number of years of work experience shall be up to 28th February 2019 for the academic year 201920, i.e., 13th batch.

Selection Procedure:

Based on the eligibility criteria short listed candidates are called for a written test consisting of three sections – Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability and Engineering Ability. The written test is conducted at one or more centers.

Candidates shortlisted after the written test are called for Personal Interview (PI) at the host institute.

Selection will be based on academic records, work experience, and performance in Aptitude Test and PI.

How to Apply:

1.    Kindly be aware that you will be solely responsible for ensuring that the application form is duly completed in all respect (including referrals) by the due date. Application, which is incomplete in any way, will not be evaluated. You will be able to save your data and proceed to the next step only when all the mandatory fields are completed.

2.    The applicants have to fill in the requisite information, particulars, and details asked for during the initial “registration”. They are required to register their user name and password in order to save their partially filled in application on-line, log out of the system and come back later to complete the application process by re-logging into the system with the same user name and password.

3.    Kindly make sure you have the following information and scanned self-attested copies of the required original documents with you before proceeding to start the application process. Note that file size for each scanned copy cannot exceed 1.95 MB.

4.    Please note that photographs and other documents will be actually uploaded and saved only after you click the "Save & Continue" button. Once saved, you should be able to see the uploaded photo and/or files and also any modification needed can done in that step on clicking the "Back and Edit" button.

A preview of the data filled in will be shown after completion of the final step. In case you need to edit anything you can edit. However once you click on “Save & Finish”, you cannot go back and edit your application any more.

5.    The Letters of Recommendation will have to be provided online by the two Referees. The details about their submission process will be sent directly to your Referees. A Referee could be your mentor/supervisor from the last company you have worked for, or a Professor or Teacher from a recent degree program you have completed and who knows you well and are in a position to comment on your candidature. You will be solely responsible to ensure that your Referees provide the referral by the due date. Please contact your Referees to ensure that they submit their recommendations within the due date. An application without the complete sets of referrals will be considered incomplete. For each application, TWO Letters of Recommendation are required.

Applicants are requested to fill up the Referee information carefully. However, once submitted, Referee information cannot be changed. After payment and final submission the link will be sent to your referees to submit their recommendation online.

PhD in Statistics of the Department of Science

Eligibility:

·         Candidates with M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics and allied subjects from any UGC recognized University/Institute with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply

·         In case of candidates from other Universities, admission for the PhD Program will proceed after determination of equivalence by the relevant University body and fulfillment of the admission criteria

·         There will be 24 short answer type questions of 5 marks each out of which one has to answer 15 questions; the qualifying marks for Entrance Test will be 50%

·         Candidates successful in the written exam would have to compete with other eligible candidates who have already cleared NET/SET/GATE/M. Phil/M. Tech. (QR&OR) at the interview stage

·         List of finally selected candidates would be posted in the University Website & Departmental Notice Board

About College:

The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.The Calcutta University Act, 1951, which came into operation from March, 1954 brought about important changes in the constitution and character of the University. The Act provided for Postgraduate teaching in some of the affiliated colleges along with the University Colleges. The Calcutta University Act, 1966 was passed with a view to providing for the reorganisation of the University that came into force on September 18, 1968.The University is now being governed by the Calcutta University Act, 1979 as amended up to 31 May, 2006.
