About College:

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry. During its initial years, several prominent faculty formed part of its nucleus, including Jagdish Sheth, J. K. Sengupta, among others.

Course Name:

Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) [specializations: Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Public Policy and Management, Strategic Management]

Eligibility:

First Class Master’s or Post graduate diploma (2 years) in any discipline and a threeyear Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate; OR CA with minimum 50% marks or CS/CMA with minimum 55% marks, with B.Com degree; OR B.Tech/4 year’s degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent. Non-engineering candidates who have undergone 10+2+5 years will be considered eligible to apply for the Doctoral Programme. In addition, applicant must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination of a Board (or equivalent).

Reservation: 60% of the seats in the programme are reserved for the reserved categories (including EWS).

How to Apply:

A candidate can apply to a maximum of two Areas of Specialization. The SC/ST/PWD applicants (submitting copy of SC/ST/PWD certificate) are required to pay application fee of Rs. 500/- and all the other applicants are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 1000/-. Applications will be received from November 04th, 2019 to January 20th, 2020.

About College:

The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.The Calcutta University Act, 1951, which came into operation from March, 1954 brought about important changes in the constitution and character of the University.

Eligibility:

1. Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% of marks (for both General and Honours Candidates). (45% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B)

Attendance during the session: Minimum 60% of the total classes held

Admission to Certificate course will be made on the basis of counselling. Applicants are required to appear before counselling session (Mandatory). Candidates who will meet the eligibility criteria will be selected provisionally for Admission to the Certificate Course (2019-20) The candidates must produce their testimonials and other documents in original at the time of counselling.

Counselling will be held on 18.11.19, 19.11.19, 20.11.19, 21. 11.19 & 22.11.19. Final schedule in this regard will be announced in due course.

Application Forms are available in Department of Languages on Payment of Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- for SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-B, PWD) payable at SBI (Calcutta University – Online Payment).

The filled in application along with attested copies of testimonials, four copies of recent passport size photographs along with original SBI online payment receipt of Rs.100/ (Rs.50/-for SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-B, PWD) are to be submitted (2:00P.M.to 6.00P.M.) at the office of the Department of Languages on or before 25th September 2019.

Please attach online Cash Deposition receipt of SBI and write on the reverse Name, Course applied for and Mobile No. of the Candidate.
