About College:
Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped is an autonomous organization under the administrative and financial control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The Institute for the Physically Handicapped came into being when the erstwhile Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other allied institution run by the council for the Aid of crippled & handicapped were taken over by the Government of India on 22nd May 1975 and converted into an autonomous body in the year 1976. It was renamed after Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya in the year 2002.
Building of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped
The Institute aims to serve the physically disabled of all age groups. In this pursuit of alleviating the suffering of disabled people, the Institute runs following programmes:-
Ø Bachelor of Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics, 4 ½ years duration course in affiliation withUniversity of Delhi.
Ø Out patient clinical services in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Ø Workshop for the fabrication of Orthotic and Prosthetic appliances including calipers, splints, artificial limbs, surgical boots and customized wooden furniture for the persons with different types of locomotor impairments.

Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO)
Eligibility:
Eligibility and Selection Procedure for Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics BPO in Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped, PDUIPH, New Delhi
Candidates seeking admission to the 1st Year of BPT, BOT and BPO must have passed one of the following examinations.
(a) Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (12th standard of 10+2 system) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) for BPT/BOT, OR
(b) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology and English (PCME/PCBE) for BPO. Provided the student has passed in each subject separately. OR
(c) Indian School Certificate Examination of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination or equivalent with PCBE for BPT/ BOT and PCBE/PCME for BPO.OR
(d) Intermediate/ Pre-medical Examination or equivalent with PCBE for BPT/BOT and PCBE/ PCME for BPO.
(e) The candidates who have passed one of the above examinations with PCME are eligible for BPO course only.
Percentage of Marks- The candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in above mentioned four subjects for general category and 45% for SC/ST/PH/CWAPP categories each.
Age: As on 01.12.2016 Minimum 17 years; Maximum 23 years for General category (age relaxation for reserved categories will be as per Govt. norms)

The Prospectus Cum-Application Form can be obtained by depositing a Pay Order/ Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped" payable at New Delhi.
Prospectus will also be available by depositing cash on sale counter in Accounts Section of institute between 10.00 A.M. and 4.00 RM. on all working days.
Application Form with Prospectus can also be downloaded from the Institute website: www.iphnewdelhi.in However, such downloaded application forms should be submitted along with a Bank draft of Rs. 750/- for General Category and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST Candidates.
