The JGEEBILS test is a shared entrance test for graduate programmes in Biology and interdisciplinary life sciences. The test originated from the TIFR annual entrance test for Biology, which was used by DBS/TIFR as well as NCBS/TIFR. The motivation for this shared test is to reduce the difficulties that students faced with multiple entrance tests, and to reduce the duplication of effort by many institutions in conducting such examinations. JGEEBILS is intended to serve as a common point for students from any science discipline or engineering to start the process to apply for biology graduate programmes around India. Participating institutions contribute questions and logistical support for conducting the examination. This year the examination will be on 8th December 2019.

Each participating institution has its own admission process and eligibility criteria. The JGEEBILS test is only one step in this. In general, applicants must apply separately to each participating institution that they are interested in. Please visit the institutional websites for details of these different entrance processes.

Fee waivers: a waiver of application fee on grounds of financial distress may be requested by a letter from the principal or the head of the Department justifying the request. Students may apply online and send the waiver letter/request from the principal/HOD (On their letter head duly signed and stamped) by post to "The Asstt. Registrar (academic), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Homi Bhabha Road, Colaba, Mumbai 400005". Alternately, The recommendation letter can be scanned and uploaded profile. these requests would be considered depending on availability of seats and cannot be guaranteed.

Students may take the online test in multiple subjects provided the timings do not clash. Please submit separate application for each subject.

Established by the Government of Gujarat, under the flagship of Home Department - Government of Gujarat. The Gujarat Forensic Sciences University is a highly specialized higher education institution that came into existence through an Act: No. 17, passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly, dated the 30th of September 2008. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master's degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a Ph.D. degree.

The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.

Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows and CSIR Scientists are also eligible to apply (as per AcSIR Ordinance No. 4(5)).

Sponsored PhD (Sciences):

Master’s degree in Science with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

How to Apply:

Online Admission System: The Admission Forms can be submitted online (except for International Students) through Onlie Admission System at http://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in. Currently, the facility is available for the programmes offered through Common Prospectus except merit-based and entrance test based programmes. The prospective learners are required to create their user ID and password for logging in the system and upload the required documents along with the submission of the Admission Form. There is no need to send the printed copy of the Admission Form to the Regional Centre. The programme fee can be paid online using payment Gateway. Once the admission form is submitted online, the students can track the progress of their admission. A message is sent on the mobile number and email ID registered with the System once admission confirmed.

The prospective learners submitting the Admission Form through this System can download the Prospectus free from IGNOU website. However, an amount of Rs. 200/- is charged as registration fee along with the programme fee.

About College:

The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.The Calcutta University Act, 1951, which came into operation from March, 1954 brought about important changes in the constitution and character of the University. All the three colleges- DPMC&H, DCAST, DCET and DVCE, which are rapidly developing and progressing byleaps and bounds, are the offshoots of Ch. Charan Singh Memorial Educational Society and Maharani Laxmi Bai Memorial Educational Society which are already providing its expertise for more than 20 years in preparing the students professionally.
