Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak Dance, is a premier Dance institution of the country, dedicated to promoting the practice, development and awareness of Kathak Dance as an artistic skill, as well as a component of the rich classical heritage of the nation.

Established in 1964 as a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, Kathak Kendra aims to carve highly skilled performers of the art who are the next generation of learned Guru-s, Choreographers and above all, intelligent advocates of the artform. A talented and dedicated team of Guru-s forms the strong pillar of training at the Kathak Kendra.

At the Kendra, a classical tradition is seen as a constantly evolving body of practices, attitudes, beliefs, skills and arts. Through its yearly programme of seminars, performances, workshops and lecture demonstrations, the Kendra endeavours to keep alive the dialogue and debate to foster this spirit of growth, diversity and evolution.

The Kendra offers two main streams of training in Kathak dance – the Elementary and the Advance. The Elementary section consists of a five year Foundation Course and a three year Diploma (Pass) Course. The Advance levels consist of a three year Diploma (Hons.) Course and a two year Post Diploma Course.

The Elementary course offers introductory knowledge and training in the various aspects of Kathak Dance. It also equips the students with a strong foundation required to study Kathak at a professional level in the Advance courses.

Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, is a Constituent Unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, and its management vests in the Executive Board of the Akademi, which is assisted by an Advisory Committee and the Director of the Kendra.

Post Diploma course looks at further fine-tuning the advanced student into a complete artist and a consummate dancer.

Diploma Honours course The course aims to build a strong foundation in the performance skill and repertoire of the art form and to create basic proficiency in other disciplines such as Yoga, Music (Hindustani Vocal, Tabla / Pakhawaj) and Theoretical understanding, to fine tune the art of the performer.

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Training in the School is highly intensive and is based on a thorough, comprehensive, carefully planned syllabus which covers every aspect of theatre and in which theory is related to practice. As a part of their training, students are required to produce plays which are then performed before the public. The syllabus takes into account the methods of great theatre personalities who have shaped contemporary theatre in all its variety. The systematic study and practical performing experience of Sanskrit drama, modern Indian drama, traditional Indian theatre forms, Asian drama and western dramatic protocols give the students a solid grounding and a wide perspective in the art of theatre.

Besides its 3-year training programme, the School has also explored new vistas in the areas of children’s theatre and decentralization of theatre training through workshops under the Extension Programme.

The School has two performing wings – the Repertory Company and Theatre-in-Education Company.
The Repertory Company was started in 1964 with four artistes - Shri Ramamurthy, Ms. Meena Williams, Ms. Sudha Shivpuri and Shri Om Shivpuri - with the objective of providing a platform where graduates of the School could perform plays professionally. Over the years it has presented works of various playwrights and directors who have been associated with it and has evolved into one of NSD's major institutions, working on contemporary and modern plays as well as introducing experimental work on a regular basis. In addition to doing productions, it organizes its own Festival, where past and new productions are introduced and staged each summer. NSD’s Repertory Company also tours and performs extensively in India and abroad.

The second performing wing the ‘Theatre-In-Education Company’ (Sanskar Rang Toli) was established in October 16, 1989, and is one of the most important theatre education resource centres in the country. It consists of a group of actor-teachers working with and performing for children. The major focus of the TIE Company is to perform creative, curriculum-based and participatory plays in schools, specially designed and prepared for children of different age groups. The major thrust of the plays is to create an atmosphere that encourages children to raise questions, take decisions and make choices with an awareness of themselves within the larger social context. The TIE Company has done more than 800 performances of 26 plays in Delhi and other parts of the country. More than 5.5 lakh children, apart from college students, teachers, parents and theatre lovers, have witnessed these plays.

1.            Graduate in any subject from a recognised University in India or abroad.

2.            Participation in at least 6 productions.

3.            Working knowledge of Hindi & English.

Medium of instruction: Hindi / English

Age Limit as on 1.7.2017 Minimum 20 years Maximum 30 years. The upper age limit is relaxed able by 5 years for SC / ST candidates only.

Reservation for SC/ST/ Physically Disabled Persons: Out of 26 seats, 4 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled castes; 1 seat is reserved for scheduled tribes; 5 seats are reserved OBC (except Creamy Layer as notified by Government) and physically disabled persons, as per Govt, of India rules.

Selection: The Expert Committee constituted by the School will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidates & its decision will be final. Any CANVASSING in this regard will be treated as a disqualification.

Centers for Preliminary Test: A preliminary test will be conducted at five Centres i.e. Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai & Guwahati. The candidates qualifying in this test will have to attend a workshop of 4 / 5 days in the School premises for their final selection for which they will be paid D.A. and II class train / bus fare from the place of their residence to Delhi & back by the shortest route, on submission of ticket / cash receipt and will also be provided accommodation on modest sharing basis.

Financial Assistance: All selected students will be given monthly scholarship of Rs.6000/- to meet their academic and other expenses.

Physical Fitness: The students selected for admission will undergo a medical test for physical fitness. The preliminary selection is subject to the clearance of fitness test.

 The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Indian Law Institute (ILI) was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research. The Institute is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Indian Law Institute has the requisite independence and academic freedom to carry out its objectives. Hon’ble Chief Justice of India is the ex-officio President of the Institute. The Law Minister of Government of India & the Attorney-General for India are its ex-officio Vice Presidents.  The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had a vision of making the practice of Unani Medicine into a scientific discipline so that Unani medicines could be dispensed in a more efficacious manner to patients. He gave the name "Hamdard" to his venture which means "sympathy for all and sharing of pain". His illustrious son, Hakeem Abdul Hameed, carried forward the philosophy and objectives of Hamdard in independent India. Even at the time of partition of India in 1947, Hakeem Abdul Hameed was dreaming of setting up a complex of educational institutions which would concentrate on highlighting the contribution of Islam and Islamic culture to Indian civilization and development of Unani medicines for curing diseases
