Sri Krishnadevaraya University had its beginning as the Post Graduate centre of Sri Venkateswara University in the year 1968. It has gained autonomy in the year 1976. Fulfilling the desires of the people of the region, the Autonomous Post Graduate centre was given the status of the University in the Year 1981. Initially,Sri Krishndevaraya University functioned as a unitary residential University. It was conferred the status of an affiliating University in the year 1987. Presently, it is catering to the higher educational needs of the revenue districts of Anantapur and Kurnool. The Post Graduate centre at Kurnool was brought under the jurisdiction of the University in the year 1993.

About College:

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established at National Level in 1998 by an act of Parliament to promote and develop the Urdu language and to impart vocational and technical education in Urdu medium through conventional and distance modes. The headquarters of the University is at an outstanding central location-Gachibowli, Hyderabad, sprawled over 200 acres. The students and staff of the University are drawn from throughout India. They are attracted by its commitment to excellence in quality Urdu education in all disciplines of knowledge.

The objectives of the University are as follows:

to promote and develop the Urdu language

to impart education and training in vocational and technical subjects through the medium of Urdu

to provide wider access to people desirous of pursuing programmes of higher education and training in Urdu medium through Campus and Distance modes &

to provide focus on women education.

The University’s campus education as on today boasts of six Schools of Studies: namely, 1) School of Languages, Linguistics & Indology, 2) School of Commerce & Business Management, 3) School of Education & Training 4) School of Journalism & Mass Communication 5) School of Arts & Social Sciences and 6) School ofSciences. These six Schools run 13 Departments, which in addition to offering masters programmes, provide research programmes at M. Phil. and Ph D level. These Schools have already churned out a considerable number of M. Phil. Scholars. The focus of all these Schools is to search new areas of knowledge and to advance knowledge through research and application.

The University has established three Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and three Polytechnic Colleges in Hyderabad Bangalore and Dharbanga respectively. For all the disciplines on offer in ITI and Polytechnic, Urdu is the medium of instruction, which fulfils one of the objectives of the University of imparting technical subjects in Urdu. Additionally, the University established three Teacher Training Colleges at Srinagar, Darbhanga and Bhopal respectively, where personal and intellectual growth of teachers is realized through varied teacher training programmes.

True to its mission of widening the wings of Urdu and instilling a passion for Urdu among the new generation, the University has also established model schools that provide quality school education.

The University established a UGC-Academic Staff College in January 2007 in its campus with the sanction of UGC. The College offers Orientation and Refresher and Professional Development Programmes, and is engaged in various other academic activities. The University has a full-fledged ‘Instructional Media Centre (IMC), in its campus. IMC is engaged in production of curriculum based audio and video programmes to cater to the needs of students pursuing various academic programmes of MANUU in its Distance Education stream. Documentary programmes meant for the public at large are delivered through the broadcast mode. For this purpose, the University has entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Doordarshan, Prasar Bharti, so that MANUU programmes are broadcast on the DD Urdu channel on a regular basis. The University’s Educational Programmes on Doordarshan’s Urdu Channel have been telecasted daily since 1st January 2010. The University has also established its first campus outside Hyderabad at Lucknow city from the academic year 2009-2010. The Lucknow Campus offers Post Graduate Programmes (M.A.) in Urdu, Arabic, Persian and English.

About College:

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs).  Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. S Reddy, then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University as an autonomous, non-profit society at the initiative of the then Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Shri S.S.Khera, ICS, and late Dr.D.S.Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognized the Institute as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in social science research in 1976.  The Institute is partly funded by the ICSSR and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The Institute is located in a picturesque greenwood area at Hyderabad in Osmania University Campus. Over the last 40 years, the Institute has widened the area of its work. Starting with research, the Institute soon found itself having to undertake consultancy for PEs and responding to the training needs of the executives of PEs and various educational programmes. 

The Institute became a pioneer in the field of computerization, assisting the Government of Andhra Pradesh and several other states in formulation of computerization policy, developing software for PEs and public systems, and on the use of computers as a decision support system.

The educational programmes of the Institute have their basic foundation in the various research, training and consultancy activities undertaken by the Institute for public and private organizations/industries over the last four decades. The programmes are the natural extension of the educational activities of the Institute from the short term management education to the long-term one and have lead to vertical integration of the research function. The insights into management education began in 1981 with the commencement of a 3-year part time MBA (PE) programme for practicing managers. In the year 1995, the Institute started a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), recognized as equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), to provide skilled human resources to meet the requirements of the Industry. Consolidating on the experience and to meet the needs of the industry, the Institute commenced  two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Retail and Marketing (PGDM-RM) in 2007, Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Banking, Insurance and Financial Services(PGDM-BIF) in 2008, Post Gradue Diploma in Management - International Business (PGDM-IB) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Bio-Technology (PGDM-BT) in 2009. Institution also started Executive PGDM in 2009. These courses are recognized by AICTE. These insights have led to the creation of a niche for itself in the conduct of the PGDBM course. Comfortable arrangements are provided to enable students to read and refer books, periodicals, journals, economic dailies and online journals database subscribed enabling to access more than 160 international e-journals. The Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in the country, third oldest in South India and the first to be established in the princely State of Hyderabad.  Though the need for a university for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentsia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government.  Sir Akbar, in a Memorandum to the Education Minister in early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University for Hyderabad with ‘Urdu’ as the medium of instruction “as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State.”  He believed that higher education must have its foundations deep in the national consciousness.
