Tripura JEE - TBJEE 2018 

TBJEE 2018 is the entrance exam for admission to Engineering, Medical, Dental, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fisheries, Technical and other Professional Degree Coursesagainst available seats reserved for the State of Tripura 

The Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination (TBJEE) will conduct Tripura Joint Entrance Examination(TJEE)-2018 on the basis of its existing syllabi at Dharmanagar, Kailasahar, Ambassa, Udaipur, Santirbazar and Agartala to prepare merit list for admission (*) to Engineering, Technological, Veterinary, Agriculture, Fisheries, Paramedical And other Professional Degree Courses against available seats reserved for the State of Tripura 

Courses Details 

Candidates seeking admission to Engineering / Technological Degree Courses (Group-A)will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and those seeking admission to various Degree Courses of Veterinary / Agricultural /Fisheries, Paramedical and others (Group-B) will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Candidates desiring to take chances in both of the above groups (Group-C) will have to appear in all the four subjects 

Candidates are directed to go through the Prospectus about question pattern and mode of answer 

Eligibility Criteria 

For Appearing at Joint Entrance Exam: 

a) Candidate must be a citizen of India 

b) Candidate must be a permanent resident of Tripura and either the candidate or his/her parent must have been residing in the state of Tripura continuously for not less than 10 (ten) years immediately prior to the date of making application for appearing at the Joint Entrance Examination 2018 

Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) issued by the appropriate authority of candidate/father/mother which one is applicable, must be submitted 

(c) Candidate must have passed/appeared/due to appear in the year of Joint Entrance Exam at the Higher Secondary Exam of Tripura Board of Secondary Education /Central Board of Secondary Education or equivalent exam with the subjects in which he/she desires to appear at the Joint Entrance Exam 

(d) Children of All India Services Officers borne in Manipur-Tripura cadre and the children of the employees of State Govt. posted outside Tripura will be eligible to appear at the exam irrespective of their prior stay in Tripura 

(e) In case a candidate is not permanent resident of Tripura but his/her parent is an Officer on deputation to the Govt. of Tripura/Officer of the Central Govt. working in Tripura and has served in Tripura continuously for a period of 3-years or more and passed H.S from an Institution of Tripura he/she is eligible for appearing in the exam 

(f) In case of Wards of Ex-Serviceman, either the candidate or his/her parents must have been staying in Tripura continuously for not less than 5-years immediately prior to the date of making application for appearing at the Joint Entrance Exam and the candidate must have passed or appeared/due to appear at the H.S. (+2) Exam or equivalent in the year of JEE from any legally recognized institution in India with subjects in which he/she desires to appear at the Joint Entrance Exam 

(g) If a candidate is allotted a seat in the past inside or out-side the State on the basis of the result of Joint Entrance Exam he/she shall not be eligible to appear at the JEE this year or subsequent year unless he/she has surrendered the allotted seat in writing within specific time to the appropriate authority

Total number of seats along other criteria regarding eligibility shall be ascertained on the basis of the communication as received by the Board from the respective sponsoring departments 

Reservation 
Reservation of seats for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Wards of Ex-serviceman (EX) candidates will be as per approved norms of the State Government 

TBJEE 2018 Exam Pattern 

Every year the Board conducts Joint Entrance Examination at the end of April for preparation of merit list to select students/candidates for admission to different professional degree courses, such as Engineering, Technological, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fisheries and others 

The Program of Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TJEE) 2018 for four different subjects is as follow: 

25th April 2018 (Tuesday, 11.00 am to 01.00 pm for Physics and 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm for Chemistry) 

26th April 2018 (Wednesday, 11.00 am to 01.00 pm for Mathematics and 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm for Biology) 

Question Paper of each subject of Exam will be of 100 marks comprising of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) 

Candidates seeking admission to Engineering/Technical Degree Courses (Group-A) will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and those seeking admission to various Degree Courses of Medical/Veterinary/Agricultural/Fisheries and others (Group-B) will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry and Biology 

Candidates desiring to take chances in both of the above groups (Group-C) will have to appear in all the four subjects 

Optical Marks Recognition/Reading (OMR) system will also be adopted in TJEE-2018

The Application Form & Prospectus may be obtained from counter of the office of the Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Exam (TBJEE), Old Secretariat Complex, Finance Building, 2nd Floor, Agartala-799001 w.e.f. 02nd January 2018 to 31st January 2018 in between 11.00 am to 03.00 pm on all working days (excluding Sundays and all other holidays) on payment of Rs.100/- only in cash 

However, on 31st January 2018 Forms will be distributed up to 05.30 pm

All postal requests must be accompanied with a self-addressed envelope of 30 cm x 13 cm size and a postage stamp of Rs.5/- affixed on it 

Exam Fees 
The Exam Fees for different categories of candidates are as shown in the table below: 
UR - Rs.350/- (Rupees three hundred and fifty) 
SC & ST - Rs.300/- (Rupees three hundred) 
BPL UR - Rs.250/- (Rupees two hundred and fifty) 
BPL SC & ST - Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) 

Candidates must have to deposit their exam fees through prescribed e-Challan supplied by TBJEE at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI). In that case, they have to deposit bank commission/other charges in addition to the amount of exact exam fees; but if the exam fees are deposited at SBI, Agartala (Melarmath) Branch, there is no need to give exchange fees/commission/service charges etc.

About College:

Higher education in Tripura had a late start. Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, the first degree college in the State, started functioning under the University of Calcutta only in 1947. Not that there was no attempt in the past in Princely Tripura to establish any higher educational institution. As early as 1901, Radhakishore Manikya made an attempt to establish a degree college in the-then tiny capital town Agartala; but as the proposal did not fulfill the necessary requirements, it did not get approval from the Calcutta University. In 1937, Bir Bikramkishore Manikya, the last Maharaja of Tripura, had planned for establishing a college again at Agartala and an area of 254 acres of land, consisting of undulated tilla land having interposed lakes almost all around, in the eastern part of Agartala, was earmarked for that under the “Vidyapattan Scheme”. A committee under the name “Vidyapattan Governing Committee” consisting of 10 members with the Minister as its President was appointed by the Maharaja to carry out the scheme of higher education and a sum of Rs. 50,000 was placed at its disposal at the first instance. On 7 May, 1937, Maharaja Bir Bikram laid the foundation-stone of the college under the scheme. But with the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-45), the work of construction had to be abandoned. The vulnerability of Tripura became apparent after the fall of Burma to the Japanese in 1942. The ground floor of the unfinished College building was converted into an ArmyHospital for British Army moving to and from Burma. When the Second World War was over, the construction work could not be started immediately due to certain difficulties and on 17 May, 1947, Maharaja Bir Bikram breathed his last and Tripura became restive for various reasons. As a result, the entire scheme of “Vidyapattan” could not be implemented into reality in time. The MBB College (popularly known as the “Dream College”), affiliated to the Calcutta University, was once the only college in the state.

Pondicherry Dental College was established in the year 1990 in a building with only 2 rooms. It was subsequently renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Dental College& Hospital in the year 1995.  Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital was upgraded to present status as Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences on08.09.2005 vide G.O.Ms.No. 57 of the Govt. of Pondicherry. The sanctioned intake for the under graduate (BDS) course is 40 seats under the following categories.

The selection of the candidates under the Puducherry domicile category is made purely on merit basis by the Centralized Admissions Committee (CENTAC), Govt. of Puducherry based on the marks arrived at by adopting the ‘method of normalization’. The seats allotted under the All India Quota are filled in by the candidates sponsored by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Govt. of India through the Entrance Examination conducted on All India basis. The admission under the NRI/NRI sponsored / foreign students are made on merit basis adopting the ‘method of normalization’. The duration of the BDS course is five (5) academic years without Internship. The BDS degree is awarded by the Pondicherry (Central) University after successful completion of the course.

Candidates for admission to the BDS degree course should have a pass in the Higher Secondary examination (Academic) conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of any State Board i.e.  12th standard or any other equivalent examination thereto as recognized by the Pondicherry Central University, candidate for admission to BDS course must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry,  Biology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in  hysics,  Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled  Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and  Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% as above and must have  qualifying marks in English.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Basic Requirements for Admission:-

1.      Five seats (5) of the BDS Course at Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences (MGPGI) are permitted to be filled in by Non-Resident Indians / NRI sponsored / foreign students for the academic year 2017-18.

2.      Admissions under the above mentioned category are made to the I year BDS course based on the marks obtained by the student in HSC Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry including  practicals. When more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list (i.e. the merit list prepared after merging the normalized marks of candidates from various Boards), the ‘inter-se merit’ among such candidates, for each course shall be determined “in the order of priority” as specified below :-

        (iii)       Percentage of actual marks in Chemistry

3.      The fee of the application form is Rs. 2000/- or equivalent in US Dollars by Demand Draft only.

Method of Selection:

Selection for DM Courses are made through a 2-Stage performance evaluation

Stage I (400 marks): Written Test with question paper consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. For each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. If more than one answer is marked, it will be treated as wrong answer and given negative marks.

Ø       For DM (Neonatology): MCQs will be distributed as 40 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neonatology.

Ø       For DM (Neurology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neurology.

Ø       For DM (Clinical Immunology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Immunology.

Ø       For DM (Clinical Pharmacology): MCQs will be 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Pharmacology.

Ø       For Fellowship in Diabetology: MCQs will be 40 in General Medicine and 60 in Diabetology.

Stage II (80 marks): Out of the candidates who secure 50% of marks or above in the Written test (Stage I), Candidates 5 times the number of seats advertised will be called for interview assessment by the Selection Committee, duly constituted for the purpose, on the next working day.

Candidates should be completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2017, the year of his, her admission to the 01st year MBBS, i.e. they should have been born on or before 01st Jan. 2001. (Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants)

No upper age limit

The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:

a) The Higher, Senior Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher, Sr. Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the NCERT after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education (Annexure-I lists the exams recognized by JIPMER)

b) Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure-I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI, NRI for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course

c) Applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology at the qualifying exam

d) For candidates belonging to the SC, ST or Other Backward Classes, OPH the minimum marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying exam is 40%

e) For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination is 45%

Entrance Exam will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only. The examination shall be held on Sunday, 04th JUNE, 2017

The duration of the examination shall be 2½ hours (Two hours and Thirty minutes)

The Online (CBT) Entrance Examination will be conducted in two shifts:

(a) Morning Shift, First shift: 10.00 AM to 12.30 PM

(b) Afternoon Shift, Second shift: 03.00 PM to 05.30 PM
Therefore all candidates will be required to appear at CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted on Sunday, 04th June 2017 in either one of the shifts (10.00 AM to 12.30 PM (OR) 03.00 PM to 05.30 PM) as allotted by the competent authority

The venue, time and shift of the exam will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card

Method of Exam

The exam shall be conducted in English medium only

The Entrance Examination is common to all and consists of 200 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the questions will be asked from the following subjects, and the distribution of no. of question is as detailed below:

Physics - 60 no. of questions

Chemistry - 60 no. of questions

Biology - 60 no. of questions

English Language and Comprehension - 10 no. of questions

Logical & Quantitative Reasoning - 10 no. of questions

The questions for JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam 2017 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board Hr. Sec. and CBSE for XI & XII Standards
Candidates are advised to go through the Mock Test for computer based Test (online exam)

Hall Tickets

Hall Tickets for the Entrance Examination shall be available for download to candidates whose applications are complete in all respects, from 22nd May 2017 (Monday) 10.00 AM towards (Tentative)

The Hall Ticket will contain (1) Name and date of birth as typed by the candidate in the application (2) Photo and signature image as uploaded by the candidate (3) Exam City allotted and Roll Number

No change in the category, age, name, DOB (Date of Birth) will be entertained after submission of application. The candidates in such case have to apply afresh before the closing date

Candidates will NOT be allowed to appear for the Entrance Exam unless he,she produce the hall ticket from the JIPMER website at the exam centres along with ID proof in original & a photocopy of the same
