About College:

The University of Hyderabad (UoH), one of the major institutions of higher education in India is largely devoted to postgraduate studies and is widely known for its excellence in research and for its distinguished faculty. Founded in 1974 with Prof. Gurbaksh Singh as its first Vice Chancellor, UoH - also known asHyderabad Central University or HCU- has emerged as a leading centre of teaching and research. The large campus located near Gachibowli, which is the IT hub of Hyderabad, has immense bio-diversity and is home to over 75 varieties of bird, not to speak of the lakes and rock formations which give the campus a natural beauty.

With 46 different Departments and Centres organized in 12 Schools of study, the University has over 400 faculty and over 5000 students. A School of Economicsis proposed to be started at the University. Selection Procedure:

The selection for admission to a programme is made on the basis of merit, academic record, professional experience, and service rendered in the areas that are directly related to the subjects.

Intimation of Selection:

The candidates selected for admission will be intimated by mail / post individually under certificate of posting and also through the email (addresses if provided in the CDE office). The list of selected candidates will also be displayed on the notice board at the Centre for Distance Education and on the University www.uohyd.ernet.in 3.2 Reservations for SC and ST Students: Since the course offered in Distance Mode there is no limitation no. of seats. All eligible candidates are given admissions and OBC Students the reservation 27% of admission. In accordance with the policy of the Government of India and the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, 15% and 7.5% of admissions for each course will be reserved for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes respectively, with a provision for inter-changeability between these categories, wherever necessary. Students applying for such programmes should submit, along with their application, a copy of their caste/tribe certificate from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahasildar / Mandal Revenue Officer.

Reservations for Physically Challenged (PC) Students:

3% of admissions for each course are reserved for physically challenged students with the minimum 7

degree of disability to the extent of forty percent, provided that their physical disability does not hamper pursuit of the course. Each physically handicapped student shall be required to submit a certificate from a Civil Surgeon indicating the extent of visual/physical disability and also the extent to which the disability hampers the student in pursuing his/her studies. The students may have to undergo a fresh medical examination, if decided by the University, before being admitted.

Admission of Foreign/NRI Students: Foreign students residing in India or abroad are eligible to apply for admission in the prescribed form within the stipulated date. Those who have passed the qualifying examination from Universities outside India should enclose relevant certificate marks sheets together with the English version (if they are in a different language), duly attested for admission to any Programme, the foreign students must have passed the qualifying examination and proficiency in English which is a pre-condition for admission. They have to pay programme fee at a different rate as shown under sub heading Programme fee for foreign Students.

All payments should be made through demand draft obtained from any nationalized bank drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad” payable at Hyderabad. If a student fails to pay the 2nd instalment fee by the due date with or without late payment, 2nd term study material shall not be dispatched. However, in exceptional cases, the University may permit students to continue their studies by paying the second term fee for the next session and attending contact sessions subject to payment of the following penalties.

Admission: No Entrance Test. Admission to these Programmes is based on Merit, past academic record and professional experience. Reservation exists in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH categories.  

Concurrent Admission: Those pursuing post graduate degree courses in the university, institutes / colleges can seek-admission to these programmes. Students who are admitted to these Programmes can also pursue full time or part time courses.

Prospectus cum Application

Prospectus cum application can be obtained from the office of the Centre for Distance Education, Golden Threshold, Nampally, Hyderabad on payment of Rs. 350/- cash (including Registration fee). Further,  application can also be downloaded from the University www.uohyd.ernet.in and the filled in application along with a DD for Rs. 300/- drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of Finance Officer University of Hyderabad towards Registration Fee may be sent to the Assistant Registrar, CDVL Golden Threshold, Abids, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabad-500001.
