Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.

Last date of Submission of duly filled and signed online application along with Application fee of INR 3500/- through DD in favour of "Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur" is Monday, November 04, 2019. Aptitude test will be held on sunday, December 01, 2019 at four cities, namely Kolkata, Mumbai, delhi and chennai. Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview (PI) to be held on sunday, December 22, 2019 at IIT Kanpur. Selection will be based on academic records, work experience, and performance in the PI.
