About College:

The University of Calicut is the largest University in Kerala. Established in the year 1968, it is the second university to be set up in Kerala. The University aims to nurture excellence in education and research in its catchment areas of Northern Kerala, historically consigned to the periphery of Kerala’s academic map. The University lays its emphasis on fostering quality human resource and promoting productive research that benefit both local communities and wider humanity.

The University was created through a Government plan bifurcating Kerala University. As per the plan, the four post-graduate departments of the University ofKerala operating in Calicut were annexed to the new University along with fifty four constituent colleges spread across seven northern districts. With ‘Nirmaya Karmana Sree’as it motto, the University has been able to surmount all challenges and emerge as the largest residential cum affiliating University in Kerala. With 30 post graduate departments and 373 affiliated colleges it has become a beacon of hope and enlightenment for hundreds of thousands of young men and women in North Kerala.

The University campus, located at Tenhipalam, 24 km south of Calicut is the main hub of academic activities. Situated here besides the 28 postgraduate teaching and research departments are: the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the Administration Block, Pareeksha Bhavan, School of Distance Education, Academic Staff College, Educational and Multimedia Research Centre, Computer Centre, and the University Library. Master of Business Management MBA

Eligibility:

Eligibility and Selection Procedure for Master of Business Management MBA in University of Calicut, UC, Kerala

A bachelor degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any subject of University of Calicut or that of any other University recognised by the University of Calicut, with a minimum of  50% marks in aggregate (including languages)

Two year’s work experience is required for MBA evening programme in addition to the other requirements

In the absence of adequate number of applicants with two year’s experience, others would also be considered

OBC/SC/ST students are allowed relaxation as per rules (5% relaxation for OBC and other eligible communities and a mere pass for SC/ST)

Candidates awaiting their degree results may also apply

However, original plus two/pre-degree mark list should be produced for verification at the time of personal interview and group discussion

Selection: Selection is based on plus two/pre-degree marks and the scores obtained by the candidates in the entrance test/CMAT, group discussion and personal interview

Entrance Test: The entrance test will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur

The University may cancel any of these entrance test centres if enough candidates do not opt that centre for the test

The print out should be accompanied by the original demand draft for Rs 500/- (Rs 167/- for SC/ST students if community certificate is submitted) and Rs 5/- stamped envelope (26cmx15cm)

About College:

The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.The Calcutta University Act, 1951, which came into operation from March, 1954 brought about important changes in the constitution and character of the University. The Act provided for Postgraduate teaching in some of the affiliated colleges along with the University Colleges. The Calcutta University Act, 1966 was passed with a view to providing for the reorganisation of the University that came into force on September 18, 1968.The University is now being governed by the Calcutta University Act, 1979 as amended up to 31 May, 2006. Eligibility:

The University of Calicut launches through its School of Distance Education Four Semester MBA Programme in 2012, designed in keeping with the needs of the ever-changing corporate and business world in India and abroad 

Any students who has passed any degree of the University of Calicut (including degree programmes of SDE, University of Calicut) or that of any other University of Institute or Institution recognised by the UGC or AICTE. Programmes of other Universities or Institutions shall be in 10+2+3 pattern (or 10+2+4) under regular stream 

In all the cases, the student should have passed the bachelor degree examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate including the marks of languages if any (without approximation, that is 49.9999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%), is eligible for admission 

However, SC/ST, OBC, and other eligible communities shall be given relaxation as per University rules 

Selection Procedure 

The admission to be programme shall be made on the basis of an entrance exam called CUMAT (SDE) conducted by the University. The rank score shall be based on Entrance Exam carrying 120 marks 

The University based on the Entrance score shall prepare a rank list and a counselling session shall be conducted for admission to the MBA Programme
