About College:

Vellore, a district capital in Tamil Nadu, has long been known for its stately fort and temple, renowned hospital and medical college, Parry's factories and the vast government industrial estate in nearby Ranipet. Vellore's history records several dynasties and powers. The Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas, Hoysalas, Sambhurvarayars, Chalukyas, Vijayanagar, Bijapur Sultans, Mughals, Marathas, French and the British have all ruled the area at one point of time or the other. The twenty or more palaces and forts in the district reflect ancient styles and traditions. The most striking of these is the famous Vellore Fort, built in the 16th Century by Chinna Bommi Nayak of Vijayanagar. The fort was declared a national monument in 1992.

Eligibility:

·         A minimum of 60% marks is required in undergraduate degree from a recognized University or Institution.

·         The Bachelor’s degree should be of minimum 3 years duration after completion of higher secondary education (10+2) or equivalent.

·         The candidate should have studied in regular full-time programmes.

·         The candidate appearing for final year examination in the current academic year, whose results get published before August, is also eligible to apply.

·         Relevant work experience will be an added advantage.

·         The candidate should have taken any one of the tests -CAT/XAT/MAT/NMAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA and the scores should be made available to the admissions office before the last date for application.

Admission Procedure

Selection of candidates is based on the written Assessment test (WAT), Personal Interview (PI) and CAT/XAT/MAT/NMAT/CMAT/ATMA score.

Test Centres: WAT and PI will be held at the centres in Bhopal, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Madurai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore and Vijayawada.

·         Application cost of Rs.1150 (includes GST) only can be paid through Online mode (Net banking / Debit card / Credit card / Paytm).

·         It is mandatory that the print out of the application form along with the photocopy of X & XII Mark list, Semester/Year wise mark lists, Transfer Certificate/Migration Certificate, Provisional Degree and valid score card of any management aptitude test like CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ NMAT/ MAT/ CMAT should reach "The Director - PG Admissions, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore-632 014, Tamil Nadu, India" on or before 5th March 2020

The Thiruvalluvar University was established at Vellore by Government of Tamilnadu in October 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002 (Government of Tamilnadu Act 32 / 2002). The Post Graduate Extension Centre of the University of Madras, which was functioning in Vellore before 2002 formed the core of Thiruvalluvar University. Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)/ Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

Eligibility:

·         The candidate’s who are studying Post Graduate programmes and cleared all papers up to III Semester are eligible to apply for M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes. Further, the candidate should produce the evidence for pass in the final semester along with mark statements at the time of interview.

·         University is not responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit.

·         If the particulars given by the applicant found incorrect, the applicant is liable for legal action and his/her admission will be cancelled.

·         Candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in PG degree be eligible to apply for Ph.D./ M.Phil. and the relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled.

·         For Eligibility criteria, the candidates are instructed to read the Regulations of M.Phil. / Ph.D. (2020) which are available in Thiruvalluvar University official website.

Selection Procedure

·         NET / SET / SLET qualified candidates are exempted from appearing Common Entrance Test and No Application fee, however, they need to upload all the required documents in this portal.

·         Common Entrance test for both Full-time and Part-time candidates.

·         Those who have appeared for the Common Entrance Test alone will be considered for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes on merit basis.
