About College:

The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, (DIAT) as it is known today, came into being as the Institute of Armament Studies in 1952 in the CME campus.
In 1967, the Institute was renamed as "Institute of Armament Technology, (IAT)", which moved to its present location at Girinagar, Pune. From the relatively narrow scope of Armament Studies alone in the Fifties, the role of the Institute was considerably enlarged by the Defence R&D Council in 1964 and further in 1981.
On the basis of accreditation by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Pune University recognised eight courses for the award of ME degree in 1980. In the year 2000, the Institute acquired the status of a Deemed University. IAT has been renamed as DIAT w.e.f. 1st April 2006.

Eligibility:

M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Optics,  Electronics OR B.E., B.Tech (Electronics, Electrical, Communication, Tele-communication, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering)

a) 55% Marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination and valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET exam score. 

b) The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed. 

c) Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet   of the final semester is required to be submitted before commencement of programme. Age limit 26 years.

Selection:  The admissions will be based on performance in the written exam/interview.

Stipend: Stipend is applicable to limited candidates based on the merit as per the MHRD/AICTE/UGC guidelines for Ph.D./M. Tech candidates. Candidates with master’s degree in science seeking admission to Ph.D. must have a valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET score to become eligible for stipend provided by the Institute.

Duly filled applications should be accompanied by prescribed registration fee of Rs. 200/-(Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates) by means of DD drawn in favour of “Vice Chancellor, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, PUNE – 25” payable at  State Bank of India, Girinagar Branch(Code 02155), PUNE – 411 025. The application form with necessary enclosures should reach to the Registrar, DIAT, Girinagar, PUNE-411025 by 30 Apr 09.  Separate application must be sent for each programme.
