Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995.

For admission to the PhD Programme in Engineering departments, a candidate must satisfy one of the following  criteria:

(i)    Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/Pharmacy in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

(ii)  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.

(iii)Bachelor’s degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

(iv) A candidate having MSc degree with Mathematics as a subject at bachelor’s level is also considered for admission in the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level with consistent first class at other levels.

(v)   A candidate with MSc in a relevant area is also considered for admission to the Department of Biotechnology. The Candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level.

(vi) A regular student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her MTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 8.0 at the end of second semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her third semester of study. Such students can receive only PhD Degree.

(vii)           A student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her BTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 6.5 at the end of sixth semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her seventh semester of study. Such students can receive dual BTech and PhD Degree. Both the degrees will be awarded after completion of PhD degree.

MININMUM EXPERIENCE FOR SPONSORED, SELF-FINANCED, PART-TIME AND EXTERNAL CATEGORIES OF APPLICANTS FOR PHD PROGRAMME

1.            Candidate in Sponsored, Part-time and External categories must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least one year of professional experience in the respective field.

2.            Candidates in Self-financed category should have at least one year of professional experience in the respective field.

Selection: - The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for written test or/and interview/portfolio review, if required, based on performance in GATE/NET/CEED/INSPIRE, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc.

Relaxation for SC/ST/PD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PD applicants.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test 2013, TISSNET 2013

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) would be conducting TISSNET 2013 (TISS National Entrance Test) for admission to its full-time post graduate degree programs in subjects such as social work, health, management, development, habitat and climate sciences.

Application procedure

Candidate can apply for the three programs in two institutes by online application.

For those who do not have access to internet may collect the form from the institute and send it by speed post to the institute.

Application fees is Rs 1020/- for online application or Rs 1000/- + bank charges for postal applications.

Exemptions in application fees are applied to reserved class whose income is below Rs1, 00,000/- in the last financial year.

Joint Admission Test for MSc

Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM} 2014 will be held on 9th February, 2014 (Sunday) for admission to Integrated PhD degree programs at HSc Bangalore (HSc) and MSc (two-years), Joint MSc - PhD, MSc - PhD Dual degree and other post-bachelor's degree programs at HTs (Bhubaneswar (IITBBS). Bombay (HTB), Delhi (IITD), Gandhinagar (IITGN), Guwahati (IITG). Hyderabad (IITH), Indore (IITI), Kanpur (DTK), Kharagpur (lITKgp), Madras (HTM) and Roorkee (IITR)) for the academic session 2014-15. JAM 2014 is open to all nationals. However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission.

JAM 2014 is being organized by IIT Kanpur. All correspondences related to JAM 2014 must be addressed to Organizing Chairman, GATE/JAM Office, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur-208016.

Eligibility:

·         For IISc Bangalore: First class (as declared by the university) for General/OBC category candidates and second class (as declared by the university) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, for SC/ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

·         For IIT Guwahati: At least (a) 56% marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least (a) 50% marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries Or (b) 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

·         For all other IITs: Atleast 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD Category candidates 'm the qualifying degree.

For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks with be decided by the admitting institute(s).

·         Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September, 2014.

·         Reservation Policy: As per Government of India norms.

How to Apply:

A candidate can apply/register for JAM 2014 through Online process only during 16th September to 16* October, 2013. A student has to first register as a user on the JAM-2014 website. Then the candidate needs to fill-in all the personal data. Once all the personal data is submitted (the personal data cannot be changed at a later stage) the candidate can make a payment either through net-banking or through challan. In case you choose to pay through net-banking, the site will take you to a secure site from which the payment can be made and then you will be directed back to JAM-2014 website for taking printout of the online registration form. In case you choose to pay through challan, you can generate a PDF-file of the challan, latest by 12th October, 2013. The challan needs to be presented, the next day, to any Core Banking Branch of State Bank of India for payment After two days of making the payment, you will be allowed to login into your JAM-2014 account for updating the information related to challan payment and only then you will be able to take a printout of the online registration form. The payment is to be made to the account of "Chairman JAM", State Bank of India, IIT Kanpur (For A/C No. etc, refer to JAM website).

Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering 2014, (GATE 2014) Conducted by IIT Kharagpur

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2014 will be held by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, which is the organizing institute this year. The seven IITs (Roorkee, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Guwahati, Delhi and Bombay) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) oversee GATE. The GATE score is used for scholarships and employment. The eight GATE zones are:

For a Master of Engineering (M.E.) or Master of Technology (MTech), you should be in the second, third or fourth year. You are eligible if you completed the degree. If your qualifying degree is a Master of Science (MSc), you should be in the final year or be finished with your program.

You can only appear for one GATE 2014 paper.

Launching the 5th batch of Axis Bank Young Bankers Program

Axis Bank has entered into a tie-up with Manipal Global Education to create the Axis Bank Young Bankers (ABYB) program offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Services (PGDBS) and a guaranteed job with Axis Bank on successful completion

The Post Graduate Diploma in Banking (PGDBS) Services would be a one-year program comprising of four trimesters of 13 weeks each

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for applying for admission are:

Qualification: Graduates from any stream, with 55% and above in their graduation and a consistent academic performance

Age: Age limit 25 years, born on or after 1st April, 1988

Selection Process:

The selection will be through a two stage selection process, which is aimed at selecting candidates who are most likely to succeed at various Branch banking roles offered by the Bank

The Bank is looking for candidates with high integrity, who are dedicated towards work, with positive attitude and good communication skills

Candidates shall be selected by Axis Bank through a selection process consisting of an online Aptitude test followed by an interview

Aptitude Test: The Aptitude test will be of 2 hour duration and will be administered online

The test will assess the proficiency of candidates in the areas of: Logic and reasoning skills; English language skills; Quantitative/numerical ability; Personality assessments

Bank reserves the right to hold a second stage of aptitude test (if required for any reason) at its own discretion

Personal Interview: All the applicants who successfully clear the aptitude test will be invited for a personal interview/candidates will be informed of their progress and status at each stage by email

Online Test Centres:

The candidate will be required to give 1 choice of preference at the time of registration only

The Bank will endeavour to give each applicant a test venue as per his/her choice; however the Bank cannot guarantee the same

Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guwahati, Patna, Raipur Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Bangalore, Kochi, Bhopal, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Chennai, Lucknow, Dehradun, Kolkata etc.

Stipend and Salary

Stipend: Young Bankers will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs.5000/- per month for the first 9 months to meet the out of pocket expenses and Rs. 12,000/- per month during the internship towards their living expenses

Other Benefits

Medical Insurance cover of Rs.1,00,000/- is provided to the student by the bank for the duration of course

Salary: On successful completion of the course the student would be absorbed as an Assistant Manager in the Bank with a gross CTC (cost to company) of Rs.3.71 lakhs per annum

How to Apply:

After completion of the online registration, Application fee of Rs. 500/- (inclusive of taxes) to be paid through Demand Draft / Cash mode at any of the Axis Bank Branches before 1st September,2013

Application fee payment

Cash: Denomination Rs. 100/- and above only

Demand Draft (DD): DD number and date must be filling up in the deposit slip

The DD must be in favor of “Axis Bank Young Bankers“payable at Bangalore

Kindly furnish all the details mentioned on the deposit slip and submit the same over the counter in any designated Axis Bank branch

Mode of Payment: Application fee payments to be made to account no: 913020038425146

Payment will need to be through Demand Draft or Cash only

No Cheque/NEFT/RTGS will be accepted

All payments to be accompanied with the Deposit Slip duly filled, at the nearest Axis Bank Branch

Please carry a print-out of the deposit slip when making application fee payment at Axis Branches; a copy of the deposit slip to be retained by the candidate and submitted at the time of online test

Please note that the candidate's registration shall only be considered complete if the application fee is paid

If the candidate fails to provide a copy of the deposit slip at the venue of online test, he/she shall not be allowed to appear for the test
