Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology in the country. The Govt. of India conferred on the Institute, the Deemed to be University status (under University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)) with effect from 26th June 2002. Subsequently, the Central Govt. by Act of Parliament (National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 (29 of 2007)) declared VNIT Nagpur as an Institute of National Importance along with all other NITs. Civil Engineering: B.E. / B.Tech / AMIE (Civil) and M E / M.Tech in any branch of Civil Engineering with a minimum of First Class (C.P.I. or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Qualified GATE score or equivalent national level exam in past.

Computer Science and Engineering: B.E. / B. Tech. / AMIE or equivalent in any branch of Engineering and M.E./M. Tech or equivalent in one of the following branches: Computer Science/ Computer Technology/Computer Engineering/Information Technology/ Information Science with a minimum of First Class (C.P.I. or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Candidate should have qualified GATE score or equivalent national level exam in past.

Electrical Engineering: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Allied branches and M E / M. Tech in Electrical & Electronics / Power Systems/ Integrated Power Systems/Power Electronics and Drives/ Energy Systems / Control System/ Instrumentation & Control / Power Electronics / Electric Drives with a minimum of First Class (C.P.I. or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale) at Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Candidate should have qualified GATE score or equivalent national level exam in past.

Electronics & Communication Engineering: 1. B.E. / B. Tech. /AMIE/AMIETE/B.Sc.(Engg.) of four years duration in one of the following branches: Electronics and Communication /Electronics and Telecommunication/ Electronics/ Electronics and Instrumentation with a minimum of First Class or C.G.P.A. not less than 6.75/10 AND 2. M.Tech/M.E./M.S.(at least two year program) in above branches or departments with specialization in the following RF/Wireless/Antenna/ Signal and Image Processing/Communication Systems/ Embedded Systems with First class or CGPA not less than 6.75 out of 10. VLSI & Nanotechnology: M.E. / M. The application form is available on institute website. Candidate has to pay application fee of Rs 500/- online through “State Bank Collect”. After payment, SBI Collect generates receipt mentioning SBI Collect Ref. No. (e.g.: DU65……………) Candidate shall mention this SBI Collect Ref. No in the application form & also print a copy of the receipt. All candidates will be required to appear for the written test, which will be conducted in the respective departments on the date specified in the information brochure. Further, the candidates shortlisted on the basis of performance in the written test shall be interviewed.

Top most scorer of the written test will be normalized to 100 and marks of other candidates will be scaled accordingly. Then depending on the number of candidates to be called for the interview, Department can set a cut-off normalized score. However, normalized cut-off below 40% is not allowed. Candidates will appear for written test / interview at their own cost.

Ph.D (Full time and Part time)

Eligibility:

(i)       To be admitted to the candidature for a Ph.D. Degree Programme an applicant shall have:

(a)  Obtained a Master’s Degree in law (regular mode) from any recognized University including a foreign University securing not less than 55% marks or its equivalent. or

(b)  Obtained a Master’s Degree (regular mode) in any discipline from a recognized University including a foreign University with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent.

(c)  Provided that the candidate with qualifications in sciences, social sciences and humanities may pursue his / her research interfacing with public policy or law. Provided further that the candidate whose final result of the qualifying examination is awaited, for any reason, shall be allowed to appear provisionally in the admission test. Such candidate shall have to produce the final result of the qualifying examination at the time of the final presentation of his / her Ph.D. proposal. Provided further that the requirement of 55% marks or its equivalent at Master’s Degree is relaxed to 50% marks or its equivalent in case of candidate belonging to SC / ST / OBC (non- creamy layer) and Specially Abled Persons (SAP). Or

(d)  A Judge who has served for minimum three years as a Judge of High Court in India or Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

(e)  The candidate who has passed the Company Secretary examination conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and has been awarded the Associate Membership of the Institute (ACS) and having a Bachelor Degree in Law from a recognized University through regular stream shall be eligible for admission to the programme. Provided that the research he / she wishes to pursue interfaces with a special focus on public policy or law. Or

(f)    The candidate who has passed the Charted Accountants examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi and has been awarded Membership of the Institute and having a Bachelor Degree in Law from a recognized University through regular stream shall be eligible for admission to the programme. Provided that the research he / she wishes to pursue interfaces with a special focus on public policy or law.

(ii)      The Vice-Chancellor may permit a faculty member of the Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur to take up Ph.D. Degree Programme along with his / her teaching assignment in the interest of faculty development, provided that his / her teaching assignment(s) and other responsibilities do not hamper in any way and fulfills the eligibility conditions prescribed in these Regulations.

Test Centre:

The University has decided to conduct the All India Entrance Test (AIET) for Ph.D. Degree Programme 2018 at Nagpur only

How to Apply:

Categories of Enrolment:

The University shall be offering Ph.D. Degree Programme with full time and part time enrolments which shall be as followed:

(i)               Full-time Enrolment

(a)  Enrolment for the Ph.D. Degree Programme shall ordinarily be full-time. The candidate shall put in a minimum of three years, including course work during which the candidate is required to stay at the University for a minimum period of 12 months. There shall thus, be a provision for the candidate to earn credits for research work done outside the University.

(b)  Six years shall be the maximum period in which a full time candidate shall complete the research work and submit it for evaluation.

(ii)             Part-time Enrolment

(a)  A part-time candidate shall put in a minimum of four years, including course work, of part-time study in the University including time spent for research at any other place with the permission of the Supervisor. Provided that the part-time candidate shall put in residence in the University for at least a total period of twelve months spread over the four-year period.

(b)  Six years shall be the maximum period in which the part-time candidate shall complete the research work and submit it for evaluation.

The Application Form can be downloaded from the University website and the filled-in form should be sent along with a Demand Draft for Rs.2,000/- (for Indian Nationals) and Rs.4,000/- (for Foreign Nationals) drawn in favour of “Registrar, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur ” payable at Nagpur. The duly filled-in application form must reach the Office of the Registrar on or before September 11, 2018 either by post or courier. Applications received after the last date shall not be entertained.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NAGPUR (IIITN), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) in the country, set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Information Technology.
