Thapar University (TU) was established on 8 October 1956 as an Engineering College named Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. It is a University established in 1985 vide Sec.3 of the UGC Act, 1956 under notification # F.9-12/84-U.3. Thapar University offers Post-graduate and undergraduate programs in Engineering, Science, Management and Social Sciences. At TU we strive to maintain an environment that encourages scholarly inquiry and research, a spirit of creative independence and a deep commitment to academic excellence. Eligibility:

BE/ B Tech degree in any discipline OR M.Sc. / MA in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Physics/ Operations Research/ Information Science/ Information Technology OR MCA with at
least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.0 CGPA or equivalent grade from a recognized university.
Candidates with Non-engineering Bachelor’s Degree in Science will also be considered for admission provided they undertake a one year Bridge Course for direct entry to the MBA programme offered by LMT School of Management. Admission to one year Bridge Course for MBA programme will be open to a candidate having Bachelor’s Degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with
Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subjects with at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.

Eligibility:
Eligibility and Selection Procedure for Bachelor of Technology BTech in Thapar University, TU, Patiala
Admissions to BE, B.Tech. programmes shall be made on the basis of merit in AIEEE – 2016. Only those candidates shall be eligible, who score at least 20% (15% for SC, ST) aggregate marks in AIEEE – 2016. In addition, minimum 60% (55% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science at 10+2 level or equivalent examination are also required to be eligible for admission.
50% of the seats are reserved for the candidates who have passed (or appearing) in their +2 examination from institutions located in Punjab.
For all other Programmes: The admission shall be made on the merit of the Entrance Test.
