G.H.G. Khalsa College of Pharmacy, Gurusur Sadhar (Ludhiana) was established in 1984 under the aegis of governing Council, G.H.G. Khalsa College. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is the 15th IIM set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development with the support of the Government of Punjab. Eligibility:

All applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in all their examinations starting with the secondary level. The applicants for the program must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be a deemed University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

A Master’s Degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks;

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 60% marks or equivalent grade point average;

OR

Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks.

In addition, managerial work experience in industry or in academics (in AICTE approved organizations/institutions), though not mandatory, will be given consideration in the selection process.

Applicants must have a valid score in any one of the following exams: Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs, GATE, GRE, GMAT, or Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) taken during the current year or last two years (i.e., on or after June, 2017). JRF/SRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR) should be valid before the commencement of the Ph.D. Program.

Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the program will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before June 30, 2020.

Interested candidates should submit an application form along with supporting documents as mentioned in the application form by 15 March, 2020 and pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 1000 for general (INR 500 for SC, ST, EWS and PH category). Request for change in category will not be entertained after submission of the application.

Shortlisted candidates will be called to IIM Amritsar campus for personal interview, written test, area specific tests and a presentation on their research interests to assess their suitability for the Ph.D. Program.

Applicants must not be more than 35 years of age as on 15 March, 2020.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of shortlisting of candidates based on their educational qualifications, test scores, Ph.D. application form, and other supporting documents submitted to the Institute. Shortlisted candidates shall be invited for the interview process. Selection is based on a combination of personal interview, written test, area specific tests and a presentation on their research interests to assess their suitability for the Ph.D. Program. Admission in the program is based on a comprehensive review of a student’s capacity to succeed in the Ph.D. program.

Interviews will be conducted in the beginning of April 2020. Final results will be announced at the end of April 2020.

Acceptance of Admission Offer

Selected candidates and those interested in accepting the offer need to deposit a non-refundable commitment fee of Rs. 15,000 along with Offer Acceptance Form.

Disputes Regarding Admission

All disputes related to the admission process come under the jurisdiction of the Amritsar District Courts.

Provided that in the case of candidates having Bachelor's degree of the University through Modern Indian Languages [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi(Gurmukhi script)] and/or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit/Persian/Arabic) or degree of any other University obtained in the same manner recognized by the Syndicate, 50% marks in the aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together.

Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers. Eligibility:

Candidates with Master's Degree (M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Pharm) with minimum aggregate of 55% marks or equivalent in CGPA in any branch of Life sciences / Biotechnology / Physics / Chemistry / Computer Sciences or allied subject with special interest in Biology OR B.Tech (in Information Technology/Computer Sciences/ Biological Sciences or other branches with special interest in Biology) / B.Pharm / B.E. / MBBS candidates with at least 55 % (or equivalent in CGPA) may apply. B.Tech/B.Pharm/BE students who fulfill the condition for GATE-JRF fellowship (http://csirhrdg.res.in/jrfgate.pdf) are also eligible. The minimum aggregate of marks in case of SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates are 50%.

Candidates also need to have any of the valid research fellowships such as CSIR/UGC NET or DBT JRF examination (‘A’ Category) or DST INSPIRE Fellowship or ICMR JRF examination or other equivalent fellowship. Please note that valid proofs, of Fellowship examinations, and Masters’/ Bachelor’s degree or those awaiting for their final results, are mandatory for appearing in the interview. Those coming for interview must be prepared to be present in Chandigarh for two days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission.  No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview. Candidates must also state their present occupation, if any, before the interview; any concealment may result in cancellation of admission at any stage.

Selection:

The eligible candidates will be called for interview at IMTECH, Chandigarh. The interview will be aimed at assessing the candidate’s knowledge, critical analysis, logical reasoning and aptitude for scientific research. The result of the selected candidates will be declared on AcSIR website. The fee for Ph.D. program is as per AcSIR fee structure. Currently, per semester fee is Rs. 7,000/- and thesis submission fees is Rs. 5,000/-.

Important to Note: In case of selection, admission of candidates shall be provisional subject to condition that they shall obtain fellowship for a period of five years from a funding agency. In case, candidates fail to receive fellowship, admission stands cancelled.
