In realization of the need for training better quality technicians to meet the large scale industrialization of the country, the ministry of Human Resource Development (the then Ministry of Education), Government of India established four Regional Technical Teachers' Training Institutes (now National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, NITTTR at Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata in 1967. After partition of the country, the Punjab College of Engineering & Technology, Lahore (formerly known as the Maclagan Engineering College) of the pre-partitioned Punjab remained in Pakistan under the name of "East Punjab Engineering College". Academic Eligibility

In case, CGPA on a different scale is awarded OR if only grades are awarded, percentage/CGPA equivalence provided by the principal examination authorities will only be considered. Applicants appearing for the qualifying examination with the above-mentioned subjects in the academic year 2018-19 and expecting their final results latest by September 15, 2018 may also apply. AND

Applicant should have a minimum total valid score of 1800 in SAT Subject Tests (Subjects: Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry).

Residential Requirement

All foreign nationals studying in any country including India or Indian nationals studying abroad who fulfill prescribed admission criteria shall be eligible.

Prescribed admission criteria for Indian Nationals shall be at least two years of education, inclusive of 11th & 12th or equivalent (not beyond), in a foreign country during the last 8 years and must pass the qualifying examination from abroad.

Eligibility:

1. Eligibility for Full-time Research Student/Candidate

An applicant belonging to the above admission categories should possess the following qualifications in appropriate areas to be eligible to apply for admission for the Ph.D. programme of the Institute.

a) Engineering Technology streams: Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology of 2 years duration after graduation in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded. OR

b) Science/ Humanities & Social Science, Management Streams: Master’s degree in Science/ Humanities & Social Sciences/ Management in respective discipline or equivalent with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute where letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks where marks are awarded. Candidates with valid GATE/ NET score shall be given preference.

c) The admission eligibility requirements may be relaxed to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks for admission in all categories of scholars for the following categories: i) SC/ST candidates ii) PwD (Persons with disability) Candidates with valid GATE/ NET score shall be given preference.

2. Direct Admission of B.E./B.Tech. candidates to Ph.D. programme

a)     All candidates having B.E./B. Tech degree would be eligible for admission to Ph.D. program

b)     To be eligible for the admission under this category, a candidate is required to have minimum CGPA of atleast:

i)                    9.0 (on a scale of 10) at the end of the seventh semester (if applying during final year) under Open category.

ii)                  9.0 (on a scale of 10) at the end of the eighth semester (if applying after the completion of B.E./ B.Tech) under Open category.

iii)                 For SC/ST category students, the minimum CGPA requirement will be 8.5.

c)     Candidates should have a valid GATE/NET score. Selection to program would be made on the basis of GATE/NET score and interview.

d)     Successful candidates in final year of undergraduate programme may be given provisional admission to the Ph.D programme. This admission shall be confirmed provided the student completes his/her undergraduate programme with required graduation CGPA.

e)     Under exceptional circumstances, when a student is unable to complete the requirement of the Ph.D. prograame, an exit option with the M.Tech. degree will be available at any time after the end of two years, subject to completion of required course work and M.Tech. dissertation.

f)       B.E./B.Tech students taking direct admission to Ph.D. programme will be required to complete mandatory course work in the first two semesters (similar to that of M.Tech. programme). Successful completion of State-of Art proposal and additional course requirements as per UGC guidelines after additional one year may entitle the student to assistantship as admissible for Ph.D. students with Master’s qualification.

3. Eligibility for Part-time Ph.D

a)     The eligibility criteria shall be the same as that for full time students. Additionally, the part time candidates need to fulfill the following conditions and provide the information along with the application:

1.      The applicants must have been in continuous service with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of submitting the application form for admission and submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer stating that (i) He/she is on the regular payroll of the organization, (ii)He/she is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis, and (iii) His/her official duties will permit sufficient time for research. Sponsorship letter (on letterhead of the sponsoring organization) should include an undertaking stating that the period of study of the candidates will be treated as ‘on duty’ with usual salary/allowances, and he/she will be relieved for the period of studies.

2.      He/ She will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than one semester i.e. six months duration which is mandatory in the first year of Ph.D Programme. (This condition of minimum residence period will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in PEC or in Organizations/ institutions located within a distance of 50 km from the Institute).

Note: 1. Guidelines on course work for Senior Executives working at the level of CEOs and Directors in industries, Government and research organizations who want to register as Part Time Ph.D. candidates are given in Clause VIII.

Note: 2. Ph.D. degrees which are pursued either full time or part time will be treated as degrees awarded through Regular Mode provided these are in conformity with the existing Statutes/Byelaws/Ordinances etc. of the degree awarding University. However, the Ph.D. acquired under distance mode is not permitted.

1.      The applicants appearing for the qualifying examination in March/April 2017 are allowed to take the Entrance Test - 2017 provisionally, subject to the condition that their candidature shall stand cancelled in case they do not pass the 10 + 2 March / April Exams 2017 with the required percentage of marks.

2.      Candidates passing the compartment papers of qualifying exam of 10 + 2 subsequently shall not be eligible for admission even if a seat is available.

3.      In case an applicant has passed a qualifying examination from Board/University whose degree has not been notified as equivalent to the Punjabi University, Patiala, he/she will have to produce the eligibility certificate from Punjabi University, Patiala at the time of interview, failing which his / her candidature shall not be considered.

4.      Candidates whose declaration of results is delayed should apply well in time to the concerned Board of examination to forward a confidential result directly to Principal, Army Institute of Law, Mohali, Punjab. The responsibility to ensure its timely dispatch will be that of the candidate. Delayed receipt of result shall render the candidate ineligible for admission.

Admission Process

a)     Admission to 60 seats for wards of army personnel will be done through entrance test conducted by AIL under the aegis of AWES.

b)     Admission to 04 seats in the All India Category will also through the same entrance test.

c)     Candidates for both Army and All India Category will be called for counselling as per merit in the written exam. Admission will be granted only if the candidate is found eligible on the day of counselling.

d)     Admission to 16 seats in the Punjab Category will be based on 10+2 merits, drawn up by the nominated university as per the notification issued by Govt. of Punjab.

Selection Process

Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in the NIPER Joint Entrance Exam 2018 (NIPER JEE) organized by the Institute

There will be one objective type question paper containing 170 questions of 85 marks, for each of the following areas i.e.  Chemical Sciences; Biological Sciences and; Pharmaceutical Sciences

The question paper will be of the level of M.S. (Pharm.); M.Pharm.; M.Tech. (Pharm.); M.V.Sc.; M.D. and M.Sc. (in relevant discipline) level.

Each discipline will also have questions from general Pharmaceutical Sciences and general aptitude. Duration of the examination will be 2 hours.

There will be negative marking in the entrance examination. 25% marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

The qualified candidates in each discipline shall have to appear for interview which will carry 15 marks

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was established under an Act passed by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in July, 1998. The mission of the University is to create an intellectual, academic and physical environment, conducive to free flow of ideas and exchange of information between various faculties of the University and between this University and other Universities of Health Sciences in the country and abroad,thereby opening a window to the world for the health professionals, health planners, health managers, biomedical and social scientists and educators in health sciences of the country .

Established in the memory of great Sufi Saint Baba Farid by Punjab govt. in July, 1998 by an Act of the State Legislature.

Fifth of its kind in India, First in Northern India- Punjab Govt. deserves the credit of establishing it.Due to inadequacy of health professionals(in quantity & quality) the need was imminent. Such a University is expected to be a “Pace-setter” – in developing appropriate modes & models of Health Care. University committed to providing Community oriented need based education & Training programmes for Health professionals.

His Excellency the Governor of Punjab has recognized all the degrees and diplomas certificates and other academic distinctions awarded by the this University w.e.f. 1st July, 1999.

The Govt. of India has recognized the MBBS, MD/MS/PG Diploma/BDS/Bsc(Nursing)/M.Sc.(Nursing) being awarded by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences

DCI/CCH/CCIM has recommended to Govt. of India for the recognition of MDS/BHMS/BAMS degrees awarded by this University

Eligibility:

Eligibility and Selection Procedure for Master of Dental Surgery MDS in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, BFUHS, Faridkot

The admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma/MDS and six months training in Ultrasonography shall be open to candidates who have qualified PGET – 2018/Special Test and eligible as per Punjab Govt. notification (incorporated in this prospectus in Part–B) and possessing basic qualifications i.e. MBBS for various medical PG programs and BDS for various dental PG programs.

Candidates can apply online.

Registration fee for PGET-18 and special test for six months training in Ultrasonography is Rs. 8000 (Rs. 4000 for SC candidates).

The prescribed registration fee should be remitted through prescribed bank challan form or payment gateway provided using a credit card or a debit card issued by banks in India or through Internet Banking.

Selection Procedure for BFUHS, Faridkot:

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the aggregate marks secured at the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) conducted by the university.
