West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has announced the exam dates for Joint Entrance Examination (JEHOM-2016), which will be conducted in May 2016. The JEHOM 2016 will be held on Sunday, May 08, 2016. JEHOM is conducted for taking admission to Bachelor in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) program in the state of West Bengal for the session 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for JEHOM 2016:

·         The applicant must be a citizen of India.

·         Candidate should have passed, appeared in 10+2 level examination in regular mode from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or from any other equivalent board.

·         Candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B category) at the qualifying examination.

How to Apply:

Application Procedure for JEHOM 2016:

·         Candidates can apply online.

·         The candidate has to take a print out of the e-challan for payment of fees of Rs. 510/- (application fee-Rs. 500/- and bank charges-Rs. 10/-). 

Paper Pattern for JEHOM 2016:

·         The test will be on 50 questions, each carrying 2 marks (full marks 100) to be completed in 1 hour. The paper contains following topics:

·         English Language-30marks–15 questions

·         General Knowledge-30marks–15 questions

·         Logical Reasoning-20marks–10 questions

·         Elementary Mathematics-20 marks–10 questions

·         All questions will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.

·         Each question will have four answer options of which only one is correct. Each correct response will fetch 2 marks, each incorrect response will fetch (-1, 2) mark, whereas no response will fetch zero mark.

·         Multiple responses for any question will fetch (-1, 2) mark.

·         The questions will be in English language only.

Important Dates:

Last date of submission of online application form: Saturday, April 22, 2016.

Download of admit card: Monday, May 02, 2016 to Sunday, May 08, 2016.

Date of JEHOM: Sunday, May 08, 2016.

About College:

Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission as commanded by his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, for the secular and spiritual amelioration of humankind as a whole, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, nationality, gender or religion. The twofold aim of the Ramakrishna Mission is, in Swami Vivekananda's own Sanskrit slogan, atmano mokshartham jagaddhitaya cha ("For one's own spiritual emancipation and for the welfare of the world"). To achieve this aim at both the individual and the collective level, he established the Ramakrishna Mission, by which he "set in motion a machinery which will bring noble ideas to the door of everybody." Swamiji envisioned it as "a lever for the good of humanity…which no power can drive back." Swami Vivekananda made Belur Math the headquarters of the worldwide Ramakrishna Movement, comprising the twin organizations of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. He envisioned that Belur Math would be a centre of great harmony and synthesis, not only of all religious beliefs and traditions, but also of arts and sciences and the various branches of knowledge, both secular and spiritual. In fact, on 2 July 1902, just two days before he passed away, he prophesied, standing at the Belur Math grounds: "The spiritual impact that has come to Belur [Math] will last fifteen hundred years, and it will be a great University. Do not think I imagine it; I see it."

About College:

Netaji Subhas Open University is the premier State Open University in India. The year 1997 was the birth centenary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Chief Minister of West Bengal made an announcement at a State function that an Open University would be set up soon and dedicated to Netaji's hallowed memory. The Higher Education Minister, Govt. of West Bengal spearheaded the idea after his visit to the Open University in U.K. Under his instruction was set up a ten-member steering committee headed by late Dr. Bhaskar Ray Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Kolkata University.

Following this, a State Act (W.B. Act (XIX) of 1997 and Recognised by U.G.C.) was passed on the 20th August 1997 in favour of opening a University for imparting Distance Education. Netaji Subhas Open University was established by bifurcated Netaji Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) and in terms of the Act of West Bengal State Legislative Assembly and is housed in Historic building of Sri Sarat Chandra Bose, elder brother of Netaji. The University started functioning with effect from July 1998 Semester, only with the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Arts & Commerce to provide an opportunity of higher education in the vernacular medium to various disadvantaged groups of aspiring learners. It is the tenth Open University of the country and the ninth State Open University.

Professor Radharaman Chakraborty, the then Director of NIAS was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of NSOU. An Advisory body, consisting of eminent educationists and senior administrators was constituted to plan and oversee the activity of the newly opened University. They executed the preliminary set-up necessary for the functioning of the Open University and from July 1998, 31 Study Centres started functioning under Netaji Subhas Open University with a Bachelor Degree Programme (BDP) in Arts & Commerce. Since January 1999 semester further 5 study centres were opened with Arts & Commerce Courses under the BDP.

The University started Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Science subjects from January, 2000 session.

The Post Graduate Degree Programme in Science subject(Mathematics) and Arts Subjects (History and Social Work) were started in January, 2002 and January, 2004 session respectively.

In the meeting of BOG MDI held on 11th October, 2010, the board had discussed the proposal regarding expansion of MDI in the eastern and southern part of the country. It was informed to the Board during the meeting that the Govt. of West Bengal is setting up a Food Park in JANGIPUR, West Bengal on PPP model and is willing to allot 10 to 12 acres of land to MDI for setting up educational institute.

Management Development Institute (MDI), one of India's premier B-schools, promoted by IFCI, thus launched its Murshidabad campus. The foundation stone for the institute was laid on 31 October 2010, by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon'ble Union Minister of Finance, Government of India at Jangipur, District Murshidabad,West Bengal. The new project is being guided and monitored by a Committee viz. Committee for MDI (Murshidabad).

The land allotted on lease to MDI by Jangipur Bengal Mega Food Park Ltd. for setting up the new campus, is located 250 kms from Kolkata on National Highway No. 34 (Kolkata - Dalkhola) and is about 42 kms from Farakka barrage. Jangipur Bengal Mega Food Park Ltd. is a Company incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 and the development of infrastructure for Food Park is in progress adjacent to MDI Murshidabad campus.

The setting up of the new campus and making it functional w.e.f. academic year 2013, required immediate and concerted action. The capabilities of MDI Gurgaon being already stretched, was not available for this purpose. Looking at the profile of IFCI Infrastructure Development Ltd. (IIDL), as the company has constructed a large number of high end residential and commercial spaces and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and transparency, IIDL has been engaged for the construction and maintenance of the infrastructure at Jangipur. The proposed Financial City at Bangalore is also being developed by IIDL. MDI (Murshidabad) is being developed as an Institution of excellence with facilities for providing teaching, training, consultancy and research. The total area proposed to be constructed is 29990.68 Sq. mts. In two phases.

Under Phase I it is proposed to develop Academic Block, Teaching Block, Students village, MDI Guest House and the residential area at a total cost of Rs. 47.23 crores.

Under Phase II further expansion of Academic Block, Teaching Block, MDP Guest House, Residential Area, Auditorium and Sports complex will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 43.58 crores.
