Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is an Institute of National Importance. It was formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), which was India's one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

1.    Medical qualification: MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the subject concerned or Diplomate of National Board of Examination.

Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply.

2.    Non-Medical – For nonmedical candidates eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. degree & BAMS will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category

Candidate possessing Masters Degree through distant learning course shall not be eligible

Eligibility:

1.    Candidates for the admission to the PhD program for the academic session 2018-19 must, at the time of application, hold Master’s degree with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade of the University, / a deemed University or any other University incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognized by the University. However, for SC/ST candidates, 55% marks are required instead of 60%.

2.    A candidates shall ordinarily be permitted to work for PhD degree in the subject in which he/she has obtained his Master’s or Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology/Applied Sciences provided that the subject must be one of the subjects included in the Statute of the list of subjects of the University and teaching must be going on in that subject in University Teaching Department/colleges affiliated to the University, which has been recognized as a research centre.

3.    The number of seats available for admission to PhD programme shall be decided and notified by the University on its website.

4.    The preference will be given to the candidates who have qualified the UGC/CSIR/DST/ National/State Level Fellowship or GATE/GPAT/SLET/Teacher fellowship. (QIP qualified candidates can directly appear for the course work)

Eligibility for Ph. D course– Non Sponsored

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

1.    Medical qualification: MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch in the subject concerned or Diplomate of National Board of Examination.

Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply.

2.    Non-Medical – For nonmedical candidates eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. degree & BAMS will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category

Candidate possessing Masters Degree through distant learning course shall not be eligible

Candidate having eligibility under non-medical category should have at least 55% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified.

Eligibility:

A Bachelors degree with at least 50 percent marks and Masters degree (minimum two years prescribed duration after 10+2+3 years of formal education) in relevant discipline (relevancy has to be decided by the IIFM) with minimum 55% marks (absolute) including Five year/Four-year Integrated Master's Degree programme and with good academic records., or Professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS with minimum 55% marks (absolute) or for IIFM Graduates, who have done PGDFM and IIM graduates who have done PGDM, the minimum OGPA of 3.00 in 4.33 maximum scale, is required or For MRM Post Graduates from IIFM, with 3.00 CGPA. Note: For those qualifications where the above 4.33 scale is not available, the eligibility will be decided by the Equivalence Committee constituted by the Director, IIFM and its decision will be final.

Financial Assistance

Each student would be given a monthly fellowship of Rs.16,000/- in first and second year; Rs.19,000/- in third and fourth year during the programme. A contingency grant of Rs.35,000/- per year would also be provided.

Short listed candidates will be called for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI). Selection depends on rank list prepared by the Institute giving weightage 70% Valid CAT/ GMAT score, 20% group Discussion and 10% personal interview.
