Eligibility:

Minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM program at the Institute is three / four years bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST) in any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities. However preference will be given to Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Management and Computer Science graduates and candidates with relevant work experience.

Candidates appearing for final year or final semester of their graduate degree examination in academic year 2018-19 are also eligible to appear for the admission process. Such candidates, if called for interview, should submit the copy of admit card or a letter from the principal of the college where they are studying to that effect. Such candidates if finally selected at XISS, Ranchi must clear their graduation examination with 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST) by August 2019.

Admission Procedure:

Three stage admission process is followed by the Institute as per the guidelines of AICTE. These stages are

1.    All India Management Admission Test

2.    Group Discussion

3.    Assessment of Writing Skills

4.    Personal Interview

A candidate desirous of seeking admission in Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi will have to appear in an all India level management admission test. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT 2019) conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur (exam date: 6th January 2019), Common Admission Test (CAT 2018) conducted by IIM Lucknow, (exam date: 25th November, 2018) and (CMAT 2019) conducted by AICTE, New Delhi are the only approved examinations through which a candidate can apply to XISS Ranchi. Aspiring candidates will have to apply online for appearing in one or more exams by visiting www.xatonline.net.in, www.iimcat.ac.in, or http://aicte-cmat.in.

The candidates will have to apply separately at XISS, Ranchi. The institute will accept only online registrations. The process of filling up forms for seeking admission at XISS will remain open from Oct 05th, 2018 to Feb 25th, 2019.For online registrations, the Registration Fee can be paid through online transactions using Credit / Debit / ATM cards / Online Banking.

About College:

The Central University of Jharkhand was established through the Central University Act, 2009. The University started with a vision to specially focus on relevant present age educational drives with an emphasis on research in cutting edge technologies. It offers 5-year integrated (UG/PG), Post graduate and Ph.D. programmes in almost all its Schools/ Centres of studies. The University is open to new ideas in course curricula and research proposals, collaboration, interaction and capacity building programmes. Being located in Jharkhand, the study of culture is the thrust area of the University as manifested in Centre for Indigenous Culture Studies, Centre for Tribal & Customary Law, Centre for Tribal Folklore, Language & Literature and Music & Performing Arts. Campus

The present campus of the University is located at Brambe, a 25 km drive from Ranchi city, in the State of Jharkhand, India. It located in 45 acres beautiful and vibrant green campus, with classrooms and hostels blending well with the environment. The classroom complex is located inside a mango orchard and the hostels are surrounded by tall Sal trees. In order to preserve the trees, one can find some tree inside the rooms and growing through the roofs. The State Government of Jharkhand allotted a 510-acre land to the University for its Permanent Campus at Cheri-Manatu, about 10 km off main city, construction work has started with a plan to create a campus worth visiting and staying in. The campus is planned to be matchless in its own right by offering an eco-friendly environment for academic pursuit among green architecture and designs, which would beckon scholars to its fold.

Eligibility:

·         Should Hold a Bachelor’s Degree and have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. The students belonging to any of the reserved categories like Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Persons with Disability (PWD) or Differently Abled (DA) category must have at least 45% marks.  

·         The degree has to be awarded by any of the Universities included by an act of the central or a state legislature in India, or any other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or are declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or hold an equivalent qualification recognized by the MHRD, India.  

·         Applicants who are appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and the candidates who have completed their graduation degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. If selected, candidates will be allowed to join the program provisionally, only if he/ she submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of her/his College/Institute mentioning that the particular candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date when the certificate was issued.  

·         Should have appeared in CAT-2018

All candidates who have appeared in CAT-2018 and are interested in admission will be required to submit application forms.

·         CAT user ID/Reference Number ready with him/her.

About College:

The Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi is a Government of India institution and only of its nature in eastern India. The British established this hospital on 17th May 1918 with the name of Ranchi European Lunatic Asylum. It had then a capacity of 174 patients (92 male and 82 female). It catered to the needs of the European mental patients only and it was under the direct control and management of Government of Bihar. In 1922, it was put under the control of a Board of Trustees with various participating state governments represented in the Board and in the very same year its name was changed to European Mental Hospital. The year 1922 is also notable for the fact that the Institute was affiliated to the University of London for the Diploma in Psychological Medicine examination. It was a unique phenomenon since the postgraduate training in Psychiatry was nonexistent in India in those days.It may be worth noting that this Institute has been the most premier centre for mental health in the country and it has many firsts to its credit. For example, to mention only a few, the first Occupational Therapy Department in 1922, ECT in 1943, psychosurgery and neurosurgery in 1947, clinical psychology and Electroencephalography (EEG) departments in 1948, a full fledged neuropathology section in 1952, the first use of Lithium in 1952 and chlorpromazine in 1953.

Industrial development plays an important role in the development of the country. To provide the requisite quality & quantity of trained man power at different level, Govt. of India set up the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) in the year 1966 in collaboration with UNDP-USESCO. NIFFT is registered as Society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The management of the Institute is vested with Board of Governors with Chairman at its apex and members representing Govt. of India (Ministry of HRD & industry), AICTE, Private and Public enterprises, technical and R & D organizations. During the last four decades NIFFT has earned a reputation as a leading institute for teaching, training, research & development, Consultancy and documentation and information retrieval services in metal casting and metal forming technology.

Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Full Time & Part Time [Department: Forge Technology, Foundry Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Department of Applied Science & Humanities, Metallurgical and Material Engineering]

Eligibility:

(a)  Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): ME/M.Tech its equivalent from a recognized Institute/University in Mechanical Engg, Metallurgy & Materials Engg., Production Engg., Manufacturing Engg., Foundry-Forge Technol., Material Science and Engg., Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nano Technology, and allied disciplines with at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate. OR M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Environmental Science or equivalent from recognized institution or University at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks in aggregate). OR BE/B.Tech or its equivalent from a recognized Institute/University in Metallurgy & Materials Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering , Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and allied disciplines with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate.

(b)  Few Seats are available for Part time Research Scholars from academic Institute/R&D Organization/Industry, without Scholarship.

NOTE: To be eligible for Institute Scholarship, a valid GATE score/NET qualification is mandatory for candidates not possessing ME/M.Tech degree. Mathematics should be compulsory at B.Sc. level.

SCHOLARSHIP:

(a)  Rs. 25000/- per month for the 1st two years and Rs 28000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th year for candidates admitted with Institute Scholarship. However scholarship may be enhanced as per MHRD norms.

(b)  No scholarship for sponsored candidates

Selection Process and Reservation:

(a) Written test/interview will be held at NIFFT, Hatia, Ranchi on 26th -27th Nov 2018, No postal communication will be sent in this regard.

How to Apply:

The application forms and information brochure can be obtained by sending requisite application fee, in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) payable at Ranchi along with a self-addressed, stamped (Rs. 40) envelope of 28x16 cm size, to the Dean (R&C). The application forms and information brochure can also be obtained in person from the academic section of the institute by producing DD towards application fee. Alternatively, the application form and information brochure can be downloaded from the Institute Website also.

Application Fee: Rs. 1000.00 for General/OBC and Rs. 500 for SC/ST

(a)  Filled in application with all supporting document may be sent to Dean (Academic) NIFFT, Hatia Ranchi- 834003. The downloaded application forms from the institute website must be accompanied with the requisite application fee in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology payable at Ranchi. Separate PhD application fee is to be given for each department.
