About College:

The Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in the country, third oldest in South India and the first to be established in the princely State of Hyderabad.  Though the need for a university for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentsia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government.  Sir Akbar, in a Memorandum to the Education Minister in early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University for Hyderabad with ‘Urdu’ as the medium of instruction “as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State.”  He believed that higher education must have its foundations deep in the national consciousness.

About College:

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs).  Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. S Reddy, then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University as an autonomous, non-profit society at the initiative of the then Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Shri S.S.Khera, ICS, and late Dr.D.S.Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognized the Institute as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in social science research in 1976.  The Institute is partly funded by the ICSSR and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Selection Procedure

Applications are scrutinised, and eligibility is established on the basis of documents submitted Eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises of NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT) (or, other entrance exams as specified below), Personal Interview (PI) and Rating of Application (RA). Admission under Management Quota

The Institute has the policy of admitting a limited number of students under sponsored category, not exceeding 5% of the total students admitted.

Candidates to be considered for admission under sponsored category must fulfil the following requirements:

·         Satisfy all the eligibility criteria for admission to the respective two-year full time post graduate programs of the Institute as mentioned in the NICMAR website

About College:

Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is the first among the 3rd phase of IITs, announced in 2014, to have its foundation stone laid in March 2015. It started functioning with the support of it’s mentoring institute, IIT Madras from the academic year of 2015-16. The academic program was launched in August 2015 by admitting students in the B.Tech programme in the fields of Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The curriculum has emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practice oriented laboratories. Courses are planned to nurture innovation, creativity, quality, teamwork, communication skills, ethics and societal interaction. MS and PhD programmes will be started from academic year 2017-18.

Presently, IIT Tirupati is operating from the temporary campus on Tirupati – Renigunta Road and also the transit campus at Yerpedu. The transit campus was formally inaugurated by the Director Prof. K.N Satyanarayana on 6th August 2018 and the orientation program for first year students was organized on 7th August 2018. Two boys hostels are now operational for first year students and the third hostel is almost ready for occupation by senior students. 120 and 60 seater classrooms are also ready for conducting classes for the first year students. With these arrangements, transit campus operations have started from August 2018.

Eligibility:

Ph.D. in Engineering:

(a)  Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record.

(b)  Candidates with Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit are eligible for the relevant Engineering discipline. They should have a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration.

(c)  Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with an exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. provided he/she has a minimum CGPA of 8/10.

Ph.D. in Sciences:

About College:

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, a tertiary care referral centre and a jewel in the crown of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati, has established itself as a Medical University of repute with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara.  SVIMS hospital has acquired the state-of-art equipment. The sophisticated medical equipment installed in SVIMS will now facilitate diagnosis and treatment of diseases faster and less cumbersome.

It was established with a view to providing Super Specialty facilities with nominal cost to the poor. Its major objectives include service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology. SVIMS has well trained, dedicated faculty to serve the poor and needy patients belonging to not only Andhra Pradesh but also several of the neighbouring states as well. During the last two decades, SVIMS has witnessed a phenomenal   growth in academic, research and health care services.  Particularly heart-warming is the exemplary performance of SVIMS in the implementation of the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and the Sri Venkateswara Pranadana scheme of the TTD.

Course Name:

PhD [specializations: Cardiology, Medicine, Nephrology, Physiology, Physiotherapy and Radiotherapy]

Eligibility:

·         Candidates with MD/MS, DM/MCh or M.Sc. (Medical), or equivalent Master’s degree awarded by a University & recognized by SVIMS are eligible to register for PhD course under Faculty of Medicine/Allied Health Sciences. Candidates with Master’s degree in life sciences/allied health sciences awarded by a University & recognized by SVIMS are eligible to register for PhD course under Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

·         Candidates with a PG degree in Physiotherapy i.e., MPT degree awarded by this University or a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy considered as equivalent to MPT by SVIMS University, M.Sc. in Nursing degree awarded by this University or a University recognized by INC or a P.G. degree in Nursing considered as equivalent to MSc, by SVIMS are eligible for enrolment in PhD courses under the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences

·         Candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% (aggregate of second and/or third year marks for medical courses). However, a concession of 5% marks is allowed to SC/ST candidates. For MD/MS candidates, the decision of the selection committee appointed by the Director-cum-VC is final

·         Candidates with MD/MS, DM/MCh degrees who are themselves acting as chief guides cannot apply

·         Post graduate degrees awarded by distance education will not be considered.

·         A JRF/SRF working in a project funded by the Institute or any other extramural funding agency and teaching faculty working on ad hoc basis or on daily wage / contract basis can apply for full time registration in a PhD programme. They will be allowed to continue their assignment only if they get provisional registration in the same department where they are working subject to

Age Criteria

1.    For admission to full time PhD as regular candidates, the age of the candidate should be below 45 years as on 01st July 2019

2.    Production of a concurrence certificate from the Principal Investigator/Head of the department (Form A) and

3.    An undertaking that he/she will not claim any extension of the tenure of the post or any other benefit whatsoever, linking the claim to his/her registration and pursuance of PhD program (Form B)

Selection Procedure

The applications should be complete in all respects. Those applications which are incomplete shall be summarily rejected and the decision of the selection committee shall be final. The selection will be made by the committee based on written test and / or interview. The final selection list will be notified and will be communicated to the successful candidates. The selected candidates are required to deposit their fees and undergo medical examination before joining the course. The selected candidates must join within 30 days of the date of communication of the result to him/her

·         Application form and prospectus can be downloaded from the SVIMS website and can be submitted with necessary documents along with DD for Rs.1500/- for OC/BC & Rs.1000/- for SC/ST candidates drawn from a Nationalized Bank in favour of the “Director, SVIMS, Tirupati. Bank Challans, Cheques, Postal Orders and Money Orders will not be accepted

·         The filled-in application form along with the photocopies of the following certificates should reach the Registrar, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati-517507 on or before the last date specified in the application
