Course Name:

PhD (Integrated) [MSc-PhD in Biotechnology]

Eligibility:

Indian students

Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to be apply for admission. Students from the SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PWD categories shall be given a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks. Students in the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided that they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program.

Eligible students are required to appear for the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS). Shortlisted students based on their performance in the JGEEBILS, shall be invited for interview for their final selection to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program. The interview is to assess the student for his/ her science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development. Up to 20 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. There shall be reservation of seats as per the orders of the Govt. of India in this regard.

Foreign Students

Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to apply for admission. Studentsin the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program. Eligible students are required to apply online for admission and fellowship to the program. Shortlisted students shall be invited to appear for a Skype-based interview for their selection to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program. The interview is to assess the student for his/ her science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development. Up to 5 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. Admission of foreign students is subjected to getting student visa from the Govt. of India for the duration of the program.

FELLOWSHIPS

The Indian and Foreign students admitted to the program shall receive the RCBRamachandran-DBT fellowship Rs. 16000 per month for the first 2 years of the program, after which the Indian students shall be required to qualify for the junior/senior research fellowships offered by CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other such funding agencies. The performance of the foreign students, after completion of their MSc component of the program, shall be evaluated by the Student Advisory Committee and based on its positive recommendation the student shall be awarded the RCB-DBT International Doctoral fellowship equivalent to the fellowships offered to Indian studentsfrom different funding agencies as per the relevant DST guidelines. Currently, the amount of the Junior Research Fellowship is Rs. 31000 per month and it is Rs. 35000 per month for the Senior Research Fellowship.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM

The duration of the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program is a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 7 years.

HOSTEL FACILITIES

On campus shared boarding and lodging facilities are available for admitted students on payment of prescribed fees.

Fellowship

The National institute of Financial Management (NIFM) was set up in 1993 on the basis of a proposal made by Ministry of Finance, which was approved by the Union Cabinet. Eligibility:

Private Participants/ Corporate Executives

(i)           Participants must have completed their Graduation with at least 50% in aggregate from an Indian University / institution recognized by Association of Indian Universities. Preference would be given to the participants having Professional Qualifications such as CA, CS, CWA, CFA, BE/B. Tech, etc.

(ii)          Candidates must have qualified in any one of the all India Common Admission Tests i.e. CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT or GMAT and submit the valid test scores not more than 2 year old

(iii)         The upper age limit is 30 years on the date of commencement of the programme

The decision of the Selection Committee of NIFM for selection will be final and no correspondence in this matter shall be entertained by NIFM.

Government Officers

1.    Minimum percentage of marks at graduation level should be 50%.

2.    The upper age of participant is 40 years on the date of commencement of the programme.

3.    Officers at middle/senior level working with the Central or State Governments, Public Enterprises and autonomous organizations belonging to State / Central Government or similar participants from foreign countries are eligible to apply for admission.

4.    Government officers/PSU officers are exempted from Common Admission Tests i.e. CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT

PhD Admission Process:

a.    PhD admission shall be done twice a year in an academic year viz July and January on the basis of a written test followed by interview. The exact dates for the same shall be notified on the Website of the University

b.    Interested candidates shall apply against the advertisements in the prescribed application forms available from the University and on the website from time to time.

c.    The Entrance Test shall be a qualifying test with qualifying marks of minimum 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. The syllabus for the entrance examination is available at the Lingaya’s University website. which is updated from time to time.

d.    Exemption from Entrance test: Candidates who have qualified in UGC/ CSIR (JRF) Examination/ SLET/ GATE / M .Phil (As a Regular Candidate from UGC Recognized University for admission to non-engineering disciplines), may not be required to appear for Entrance Test of the University. However, their appearance in the interview shall be mandatory for admission for such category candidates.

Eligibility:

i.       Qualifications: MSc/MTech in any branch of Life Sciences/Chemistry/MPharma/ MVSc/ MBBS or an equivalent degree.

ii.      Qualifying Marks: 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC allowed as per the GoI norms).

iii.     No of seats: Twenty (20)

iv.     Reservation of seats: As per the GoI guidelines.

v.      In addition to the above, candidates should have qualified any of the following examinations and hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of interview like.

·         Joint CSIR-UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF)

·         Innovation in science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST-INSPIRE)

·         DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF)

·         ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF)

·         Any other nationally-competitive fellowship offered by the Government.

Selection Process

The applications received by the due date will be scrutinized for eligibility. Eligible candidates will be called for a written test followed by an interview of the short-listed candidates during 13-14 December 2018.

Fellowship

The students admitted to the programme will have to avail the fellowship for which they have qualified as per the rules of the funding agency. RCB will have no financial liability regarding the same

Course Name:

Ph.D programme on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

Eligibility:

For the program on Biostatistics, the candidate must possess a first-class (60% marks or more) Master's degree in Statistics or Mathematics. For the program on Bioinformatics, the candidate must have a first-class (60% marks or more) Master's degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics. Those appearing in the final examination and having secured at least 60% marks on an average in all examinations held during the Master’s degree programme are also eligible to apply. However, students will be permitted to join the program only on production of first-class Master’s degree certificate.

Selection procedure for admission and stipend: Eligible candidates need to appear for a nationally-open written examination at RCB. Short listed candidates will then be interviewed for the final selection. Selected students shall receive a consolidated stipend of Rs. 45000 per month for the first 2 years of the program and Rs. 50000 for the next three years. The stipend shall be subject to taxes as per Govt. of India rules. Continuation of stipend is subject to satisfactory progress made by the student to be evaluated annually. A total of four students may be selected annually to these programmes.

Application procedure: Interested students may apply online by paying the prescribed application fee of Rs. 1000. Eligible candidates shall be invited for a written test and interview on 27th or 28th July 2018 at RCB in Faridabad. Selected students are required to join the program on August 1, 2018.
