The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs).  Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. S Reddy, then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University as an autonomous, non-profit society at the initiative of the then Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Shri S.S.Khera, ICS, and late Dr.D.S.Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognized the Institute as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in social science research in 1976.  The Institute is partly funded by the ICSSR and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Diploma Programme on Panchayati Raj Governance & Rural Development (DP-PRGRD) First Batch

Eligibility:

The applicants have to register online for the programme by accessing www.nird.org.in. Weightage in selection would be given only on the basis of certificates and transcripts that are attached. The candidates selected for admission will intimated by post. The list of selected candidate will also be displayed on the NIRD&PR website. Only the applicants who pay the fees within the stipulated date are treated as admitted. Verification of all the original certificates will be done at the time of contact classes. Candidates will be permitted to appear for the term-end examination only after the verification of relevant original certificates, until then their admission will be provisional.

Programme Fee

The fee of the One Year Diploma Programme on Panchayati Raj Governance and Rural Development is Rs 10000/- (Rs. Ten Thousand only). The Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in the country, third oldest in South India and the first to be established in the princely State of Hyderabad.  Though the need for a university for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentsia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government.  Sir Akbar, in a Memorandum to the Education Minister in early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University for Hyderabad with ‘Urdu’ as the medium of instruction “as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State.”  He believed that higher education must have its foundations deep in the national consciousness.

MANAGE was established in 1987, as the National Centre for Management of Agricultural Extension at Hyderabad, by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India as an autonomous Institute, from which its acronym ‘MANAGE’ is derived. In recognition of its importance and expansion of activities all over the country, its status was elevated to that of a National Institute in 1992 and re-christened to its present name i.e., National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management. Eligibility:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50 percent marks

2.    The degree must be from a recognized Indian University

3.    The degree must be from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (OR)

4.    In case the qualification of a candidate is from a foreign university, it must be recognized by Government of India, as equivalent to a degree offered in India.

4.    If a candidate fails to qualify for admission, fee deposited by him will be refunded

Refund of Fee:

70 percent of the fee will be refunded if admission is withdrawn within one month of the commencement of the program (the commencement date for each program is defined). After one month, candidate will not be entitled for any refund.

About College:

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs).  Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. S Reddy, then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University as an autonomous, non-profit society at the initiative of the then Cabinet Secretary to the Government of India, Shri S.S.Khera, ICS, and late Dr.D.S.Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, recognized the Institute as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in social science research in 1976.  The Institute is partly funded by the ICSSR and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
