Eligibility

The candidates for the programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India, or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE. The degrees of candidates from foreign universities must be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Similarly, the PGDM of Indian Institutions must be recognized as equivalent to MBA by AIU or approved by AICTE.

Master’s degree or its equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks

OR

Professional qualifications such as CA/ICWA/CS along with a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average.

OR

Five year Integrated Master’s degree in any discipline, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade point average, obtained after completing the higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

OR

Four Year/Eight Semester Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch.) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade point and additionally a minimum of two years of work experience.

Those appearing for their final examination in the respective discipline can also apply. Such students if selected shall be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements in obtaining their Master’s Degree before September 30, 2019. The admission of these candidates shall remain provisional until they produce the mark sheet proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The genesis of the National Archives of India may be traced back to the year 1860 when Sandeman, the Civil Auditor, in his report stressed the need of relieving the offices of congestion by destruction of the papers of routine nature and transfer of all valuable records to a ‘Grand Central Archive’. However, things took a concrete shape in 1889, when Professor G.W. Forrest of Elphinstone College, Bombay was entrusted the job of examining the records of the Foreign Department of the Government of India. Earlier, he had earned reputation as an Archivist for his work in the Bombay Records Office. In his report, he made a strong plea for transferring all records of the administration of East India Company to a Central Repository. As a result, Imperial Records Department (IRD) came into existence on 11 March 1891 which was located in Imperial Secretariat Building at Calcutta (Kolkata). Professor G.W Forrest was made its Officer in Charge. His main task was to examine, transfer, arrange and catalogue records of all the Departments and to organise a Central Library in place of various Departmental Libraries. After G.W. Forrest, the work at Imperial Records Department (IRD) progressed well under S.C. Hill (1900), C.R. Wilson (1902), N.L. Hallward (1904), E. Denison Ross (1905), A.F. Scholfield (1915), R.A. Blaker (1919), J.M. Mitra (1920) and Rai Bahadur A.F.M. Abdul Ali (1922-1938) who were scholars as well as Records Keepers in their own right.

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Training in the School is highly intensive and is based on a thorough, comprehensive, carefully planned syllabus which covers every aspect of theatre and in which theory is related to practice. As a part of their training, students are required to produce plays which are then performed before the public. The syllabus takes into account the methods of great theatre personalities who have shaped contemporary theatre in all its variety. The systematic study and practical performing experience of Sanskrit drama, modern Indian drama, traditional Indian theatre forms, Asian drama and western dramatic protocols give the students a solid grounding and a wide perspective in the art of theatre.

An Expert Committee constituted by the School will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidates & its decision will be final. Any CANVASSING in this regard will be treated as a disqualification. The school reserves the right to shortlist the number of candidates for audition/preliminary test on the basis of experience of the candidates in theatre arts.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: All selected students will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 8000/- p.m. to meet their academic and related expenses.

PHYSICAL FITNESS: The students selected for admission will be required to undergo a medical test for physical fitness at NSD Delhi. Their final selection is subject to clearance of the fitness test.

About College:

The School of Planning and Architecture had a modest beginning in 1941 as a Department of Architecture of Delhi Polytechnic. It was later affiliated to the University of Delhi and integrated with the School of Town and Country Planning which was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning. On integration, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture in 1959. Recognizing the specialized nature of the fields in which the School had attained eminence, in 1979, the Government of India, through the then Ministry of Education and Culture, conferred on the School of Planning and Architecture the status of "Deemed to be a University". With this new status, the School has broadened its horizon by introducing new academic and extension programmes and promoting research and consultancy activities.

Eligibility:

·         Architectural Conservation & Urban Design: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Planning from a recognized university or equivalent.

·         Environmental Planning: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or Environmental Engineering or Master’s Degree in Geography or Economics or Sociology or Environmental Science or Environmental Management of a recognized university or equivalent.

·         Regional Planning & Urban Planning: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or M.A. Geography or Economics or Sociology from a recognized university or equivalent.

·         Housing: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or Municipal Engineering or Building Engineering or M.A. in Sociology or Economics from a recognized university or equivalent.

·         Transport Planning: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent or Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Operational Research/ Economics from a recognized university or equivalent.

·         Landscape Architecture: Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or Architecture or Planning or Master’s Degree in Planning or equivalent post- graduate diploma of a recognized university/institution or certificate of completion of Pre-Landscape Architecture Course of the SPA, New Delhi.

·         Building Engineering & Management: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering or Architecture or Architectural Engineering or Building Science or Five Year Diploma in Construction Technology or equivalent from a recognized university/institution established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature.

·         Design (Industrial Design): Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture of a recognized university or equivalent or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Design/Fine Arts of a recognized university or equivalent with valid CEED score (essential for non-architectural candidates) from approved streams.

MARKS: Candidates with at least 55 percent marks in aggregate at the qualifying Examination, 50% aggregate marks in respect of SC/ST/OBC

How to Apply:

Eligible candidates may download Application Form through School’s website and send it to the Section Officer (A&E Section) by Registered/ Speed Post to the School on or before 22nd March, 2019.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

An applicant can apply for single Programme only. Application fee for PG programme is Rs.2,500/-(Non Refundable) for Indian Nationals and US$ 300 (Non Refundable) for Foreign National/NRI/PIO/OCI to be paid by online 1. Short listed/eligible candidates shall be notified on the School’s website and must bring original certificates & self- attested photocopies and project work/portfolio etc. at the time of Test/ Interview. The School reserves the right to reject/cancel any application without assigning any reason to the applicant.

PG SCHOLARSHIPS: The scholarships to GATE or CEED (applicable only for ID course) qualified candidates will be paid to those who have valid Score Card.
