About College:

Cochin Shipyard was incorporated in the year 1972 as a fully owned Government of India company. In the last three decades the company has emerged as a forerunner in the Indian Shipbuilding & Shiprepair industry. This yard can build and repair the largest vessels inIndia. It can build ships upto 1,10,000 DWT and repair ships upto 1,25,000 DWT. The yard has delivered two of India’s largest double hull Aframax tankers each of 95,000 DWT. CSL has secured shipbuilding orders from internationally renowned companies from Europe & Middle East and is nominated to build the country’s first indigenous Air Defense Ship. 

Shipyard commenced ship repair operations in the year 1982 and has undertaken repairs of all types of ships including upgradation of ships of oil exploration industry as well as periodical lay up repairs and life extension of ships of Navy, UTL, Coast Guard, Fisheries and Port Trust besides merchant ships of SCI & ONGC. The yard has, over the years, developed adequate capabilities to handle complex and sophisticated repair jobs.

The Shipyard also trains graduate engineers to marine engineers who later join ships both Indian and foreign as 5th Engineers. 100 are trained every year.

The University of Calicut is the largest University in Kerala. Established in the year 1968, it is the second university to be set up in Kerala. Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kottayam has announced the exam dates for MGU Common Admission Test (MGU-CAT 2016), which will be conducted in May 2016. The MGU-CAT will be held from Saturday, May 21, 2016 and Sunday, May 22, 2016. MGU-CAT is conducted for taking admission to Master of Arts (M.A), integrated Master of Science Doctor of Philosophy (M.Sc+Ph.D), M.Sc, Master of Law (LL.M) and Master of Tourism Management (MTM) programs offered in various specializations for the year 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for MGU-CAT 2016:

For M.A Programs: Candidates should have bachelor’s degree in the faculty of Social Sciences with not less than 45% marks (or CGPA of 1.8) in part III.

For MTM Program: Candidates should have bachelor’s degree (including professional degrees) with not less than 50% marks (or CGPA of 2) in any discipline of this university or any other university recognized by Mahatma Gandhi University.
